  1. 1. How do you rate this Harry Potter train set?

Honestly, this set needs the S@H treatment. We've had four Hogwarts Express sets and none of them have really come close to doing the actual engine a lot of justice. With the introduction of the new train wheels in the Emerald Night this would have been a perfect time to introduce a proper Hogwarts Express. I would have preferred a proper Hogwarts Express to either the new Diagon Ally or the Hogwarts Castle sets. This set could have been something truly special.

I know what you mean they could off used the emerald nights new wheels and made it a S@H exclusive :sadnew: But that didn't happen :hmpf_bad:

Love that train. It's beautifull. Only thing I don't like is that the minifigures can't walk in the train. Like every Harry Potter set it's just a little bit too small. But why didn't LEGO included a driver? That isn't hard at all.

This is good, but as usual, there are flaws that must be adressed.

These flaws are: No Ravenclaw uniform for Luna , no sweet trolley lady even though there is the trolley, the wands are too long and the pre-HP ones weren't necessary, it's overpriced, like a lot of Lego is these days  and it is too much alike the old ones and is still too small; not enough carriages and larger wheels would be nice. However, I do recommend it inspite of these pesky flaws.

Another thing that I forgot to mention: Luna first appears in Order of the Phoenix, but in your review you said that she first appeared in Half Blood Prince. Would you please change this easy to overlook mistake.

You misread it. WhiteFang is saying that the glasses first appear in Half-Blood Prince. He doesn't mean that Luna first appeared in HBP, even though the pronoun 'she' is used. Remember, these are international boards and not everyone is a native English speaker; you will encounter some grammar mistakes from time to time, but that shouldn't be a problem.

Oh. *oh2* I forgot that some people post on here using a translator. Apologies to Whitefang for my foolish mistake.

I don't used tools like "translator" for my typing. However, I do make occasional mistakes like this.

Thanks Clone O'Patra for helping to clarify on that point. :sweet:

This set is very nice except:

1.This is the ONLY set with Draco so TLC makes you buy this set to get him :cry_sad: .

2.There are no doors.

3.The passenger carrige looks crowded!

Apart from that it looks like a nice set :classic:

Well Draco does come in the Quidditch set but I know what you mean, this is the only set that comes with the Slytherin uniform.

I want to get this set but it is not at the top of my list and I will wait until the sales to get it.

I just opened my box to put the bags in a more compact container.

I noticed two 4x1 red bricks loose inside the box.

Any idea about this?

Also the 2 instruction booklets are so crumpled. :cry_sad:

I'm excited to open and build the first 2 bags!

On the review: Thanks for a very comprehensive review!

whenever I need to check on these sets, eurobricks is my first stop for reference.

I bought this as part of a TRU buy one get one 50% off. I'm not really sure why because the only thing that appeals to me is the passenger car. I've never even seen a Harry Potter movie. The locomotive design is weak and it can't be powered unless you do some major re-working so I'll just use most of the parts to create more rolling stock. Good review though.
