Nabii Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Anyone come signed up for this? AFOLCon Website Seems like a mixture of a US style event, European events and something new. The guests look pretty good so far! Should be cool. Quote
cavegod Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 i'm going and displaying will only be there for the 2 public days can't justify £60 for the other days Quote
Nabii Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 i'm going and displaying will only be there for the 2 public days can't justify £60 for the other days From what I understand this is about the same as all the US events charge just for people to display their MOCs to the public, but in this case you get two private days including talks, lectures and show and tells from LEGO Designers, TT Games Designers, LEGOLAND Designers/builders and a bunch of other LEGO specialists. Seem like a good deal to me, but I would say that, I'm one of the confirmed LEGO Designers who will be there. Anyway, there is now a press release, just hinting at some of the funky goodies the organizers are throwing the way of the attendees: AFOLCON Press release - it's a PDF (sorry). Believe me this is going to get more and more exciting as we get closer to the date and myself and the other guests can start to confirm what we will have there. Plus there are only a limited number of spaces - just a heads up in case you decide to go too late! Cheers, Mark. Quote

Tim has worked on lines such as Power Miners, Space Police, Atlantis and more recently Ninjago. This year, his presentation will revolve around the process of creating Ninjago, all the way from conception of the idea to release into the marketplace David Gauntlett has been Senior Researcher for the LEGO Learning Institute for four years, working as a consultant on internal projects such as ‘Systematic Creativity’ and ‘Systematic Creativity in the Digital Age’. He was lead author on the newest study, not yet released, entitled ‘The Future of Play’. He has also worked on LEGO Serious Play, and recently co-wrote the materials for its ‘open source’ release. In his day job, he is Professor of Media and Communications at the University of Westminster. He will talk about his new book, Making is Connecting, and his work with LEGO. See: http://www.makingisconnecting.org Carl Greatrix works for TT Games, the company behind LEGO Starwars, Batman, Indiana Jones and now LEGO Harry Potter - the videogame. Known as 'Bricktrix' on Flickr, his MOCs of both game elements and his own love, trains, are legendary. I love hearing about the process of creation and a full day of talks on lego sounds great. I am also excited to meet other AFOLs, I've never met another die hard lego adult in person before! It should be amazing :D Quote
