LOL, an attempt to make profit. Thats funny as i recall purchasing 3 models from you not 1. I don't see all 3 items listed. Your pictures are detailed enough to duplicate from if that was the intent. If the intent was profit I would just make a video on how to build it. however i will rebuild my 12 speed just for you so you understand.

I did admit to using your top plate design to simplify the tranny as the Ranger was moved to the rear right before the Diff. I never did ask, I could just remake a new plate that looks completely different (already have). Would you prefer that or a link to you. I never list an item as mine in the description if I didn't create it as my designs have been appearing in ILE9OS listings. I have thousands of people pass through my store. I am not trying to pull profit off of 1 item as I sell over 300. Do you want more traffic to you, or I can relist the alternate plate that uses more common parts. Honestly I have only sold 2, and don't plan on selling more than 1 a month at my price as I list it higher than you on purpose. I list buy it nows, and not auctions, though I could mass list it in auction format, but wont. I rather sell the parts and not take to much time building as that is the fun of Legos. I have been selling assembled items on Ebay for over 2 years, and with a family and 50 hrs a week driving a truck I don't want to make and mass sell them.

This actually sounds quite reasonable to me..

But as always is the case; two people two views. I for one cannot confirm any of those, noone can but they themselves

Mind you: I hate people who steal someone else 's design for credits and / or credit (profit)!

Then why didn't you just build the components from the pictures then? Why spend $100+ if it was so easy to do? If your 12 speed is so advanced and wonderful, then why not sell off your own design rather than one from someone else. How would you profit from making a video of how to build it? From selling the video?

What you seem to be failing to realize is that there is more to this than just changing the shifting plate around to look different. I have built this gearbox and not only is the shifting plate a unique way to line up the shifter at the needed 1/2 a stud spot, but it also works with the parts that hold the axles and gears into place in the needed 1/2 stud area. It's the entire design that is being copied my friend, not just the shifting plate as you are mentioning. Yeah the gearing setup is pretty old school by today's standards, but how he implemented that old school with studless building was very well done.

This section of his design is equally as important as the shifter plate.

I don't se what all the fuss is all about. I really admire some of the builders aroung here, and there are some interesting designs and solutions floating around. You can learn a lot from them and have some fun. You can not put a copyright on your custom LEGO design, but you can put copyright on the instructions, but only for selling them, not using them. You have to admit that you are allready selling something that you didn't design, ( lego designers did) you are just putting bricks in different order, and over and over repeating the patterns that are used in official Lego sets, so you are also copying some other designers work. Since I am a designer ( in real life, not in Lego  ) I really know what I am talking about, and it is difficult to put a line between "improving" something and "ripping off" somebodyelses design. You should enjoy in building, hey, If you need selling lego to feed your familly, that is totaly fine. There is no law that can say that you are forbidden to sell your own property ( I am talking about Lego parts ) There are a lot of sellers around that sell official lego sets, and they are not official resellers, they are private persons that buy models and sell them latter, when the prices go up. And I call that smart seller. If Paul sells his gearbox for 40 bucks,( parts cost around 7-8 bucks here in Croatia) It means that he is a good bussinesman, and he made a nice proffit from it and he shoul be happy :-)

I am just revisiting Technic, I presume couple more weeks and I am going to get borred, move to something new so I will not participate in this forums any more, but I noticed a huge amount of ego going around here, and huge amount of politics, lust for agnoligement and what not. You should all enjoy your Lego, learn, enjoy, have fun, don't turn it to another stress in your life. If you can make some money from it even better. If somebody else sels it at a higher price, it is not called a thief, it is called a resseler, and obviously, he knows the market better then you do.

Allways remember, you didn't invent Lego, you are just playing with it

Happy hollidays

That is fine if he is selling them, but morally what gives someone else the right to also start doing it? I consider them a leech or a parasite that is feasting off of someone else. It seems more and more everyday there are people selling off creations copied from builders from all over the world. It's not illegal, but it just doesn't seem right.

Did I mention a lot of trolling and spamming, with no purpose other than building your post count:-)

Ego? I haven't noticed any of that in the Technic forum. Everyone seem to support one another quite well. :sceptic:

Of course, there is some hidden morality issue, but you can't really define it, because the medium is still third party product. And you have to take the recession into mind that is really obvious in some parts of the world, so some people really have to do anything to survive and to feed their familyes. If it helps to feed his kids, again, he is not doing anything legaly wrong.

No, generally, you are all really nice bunch of creative people, but to me, as the outsider to the toy industry, it seems a bit to serious at times :-)

Maybe you should do so today.

Maybe you should do so today.

Amen, DLuders...BRAVO.

you are just playing with it

i don't play with lego, i build with it.

i don't mind the egos (can't spell lego without it!), especially my own, but they should end at "look what i did!"

Be cool guys, you don`t have to be so cruel :classic:

I think the ego that the poster sees is peoples pride in their models. After putting to much effort into their models, people usually become very proud of them.

Besides, its only Legos we are talking about! :classic:

tim

its only Legos

only lego?! world wars have erupted over lesser offenses.

Actually it looks like that seller is getting rid of his entire Lego collection... It's no big deal...I am proud just to know that someone else thought that my work was good enough to replicate... As long as no one is selling my instructions or selling custom things that I am also selling, I have no problem with it at all...

On that positive note I think I'll be closing this topic. It's starting to get nasty.
