Bricks2000 Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Here are the links to pics of some of the new cars sets, here and here From these pics I would say that the sets look decent. ~buddy~ Wow. I like those single cars. Quote
prateek Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Flo's Cafe looks okay. I'll reserve my judgment until better pics show up. Quote
Oky Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 I tried to enhance the pics: 8200 & 8201 8486 & 8487 It's great that they sell Lightning and Mater separately. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 Thanks for the new pics buddy and Oky! These Cars sets really look promising. I'm a fan of Cars and it might be hard to resist collecting these. I agree the separate McQueen and Mater small sets is a great idea, but only two of the Cars won't be enough for me and I might be tempted to get Flo's Cafe and the Mack set just to complete the characters. prateek Posted December 25, 2010 Posted December 25, 2010 (edited) Better pics. Now I can make out the general structure of the Cafe, and it looks decent. I can't wait for the rest of the sets! Edited December 25, 2010 by prateek Quote

Masked Builder Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Overall these sets look okay. My little bro is really liking them. I'll decide after I see the prices. Quote
RileyC Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 They look pretty good! Its definitely strange that Lego are selling McQueen and Mater in like impulse type sets. Flo's cafe does look good and really seems to have the whole bunch from radiator springs. I suspect the boxes with no image must be sets from Cars 2 cause Disney must want to keep it under wraps. Look at how many variations there are in the normal toyline. Quote

Oky Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 (edited) Yeah, I don't find it all that strange either. Those will sell like hot cakes! By the way, the pics I posted above are still there. Edited December 26, 2010 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Raphy Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 You guys can't tell how delighted I am at these! Just look at those rims - they'll definitely be compatible with the TTs. I'm getting tired of the classic ten-spoke chromies. :P Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Flo's cafe looks nice. I'll need to see better pics to decide about these. Quote
legomaniac83 Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 (edited) Wow, just as I am trying to cut back Lego purchases for the new year because of other (more important) priorities, this comes along.... I am excited with the scale of this series, and the CARS characters that will be priduced. This will be an excellent move for Lego, scalewise, and I would expect it will have no trouble selling. Look at the marketing that's already been done with diecast, clothing and so on in the CARS theme. Can't wait for some better pics, and prices....... Edited December 27, 2010 by legomaniac83 Quote
autobrick Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 When I first saw the Cars sets in the leaked catalogue, I couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. To me, they look very <insert that tiresome argument>, very Megablock-ish. I know it isn't easy to faithfully recreate the characters at such a small scale without stickers/specialized pieces, but they look like they are getting frighteningly close to the danger zone (ie. Megablockland). I hope that when I saw clearer pictures of them they will look better. However, seeing as Cars is one of my many favourite Pixar movies (despite the rather poor plot), I know I'll be getting my hands on a couple of these. Lego always gets me in the end. Quote
Gamer Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 Two DUPLO CARS sets are available at LEGO.com in the part of the site titled Shop,in by themes. The names of the sets are: Macks Road Trip and Lightning McQueen. Gamer. Quote

buddy Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Excellent news , Huw on Bricset has just said: >Do the Cars sets use stickers for details? No, they are printed, thankfully This is great news, that the new cars in the Cars sets will be printed, not stickered! ~buddy~ Quote
escortmad79 Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 Any new pictures of these sets yet? Want to see decent pics of Flo's V8 Diner Quote
Oky Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 (edited) Yes, that's great news considering how many eyes and decals there are on the cars alone. On the other hand it will make all the pieces harder to reuse in non-Cars MOCs. Oh well. By the way, I was wondering what 8678 Ultimate Build Francesco could look like, and a quick google search came up with pictures of a leaked diecast of the character. Apparently his name is Francesco Bernoulli and he's a Formula 1 race car. Click here to see more pics. If this is anything like those large Ferrari F1 racers, this could be a great set! Hopefully it wont have a lot of Technic. Oh, and could a mod please add the missing sets to the first post? Edited January 30, 2011 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
bockers Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Hope these turn out much better than the Duplo ones. Quote
Thee Pirate Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 This is fun news. I was a little disappointed that the first run of cars was all Duplo. Way before I'm a pirates, I'm a gearhead, so I'll probably get all the sets from this theme. Is Doc Hudson supposed to appear in this film? ...and to everyone that says these won't be compatible with "normal" system cars, these look 4 wide from the pictures I've seen. For years 4 wide was the Lego car standard so I can still see it working Quote

For years 4 wide was the Lego car standard so I can still see it working Doc Hudson won't be in the film because his voice actor, Paul Newman, passed away. I'm not sure how many of the upcoming Cars sets will be from the original Cars and how many will be from Cars 2, however, so we might still see a set including him. Quote
