I have to say I was a little sceptic.

But this last pictures just blew me! This line delivers! Great sets!

I loved the movie, and the pics so far makes me wish I had them!

Oh, that boat.....hello, Sea Patrol ! Grey boat pieces.....oh, it's time to go to war !

Lego seem to pulled out all spots with every theme this year eh ?

But with that boat on second thoughts, should have been a single haul....why ? Answer....kids will want to see it float won't they ?

Oh, how I'm I going to hide these from the wife and make sure my son doesn't tell....ah, bribe him !:laugh:

Ooh, is tow truck in dark brown? Then it's lots of new useful parts in that great colour! :sweet:

And that light green colour, is that a new one? Might be useful.

I do hope for stickers instead of printed parts, more versatile in MOCing.

Thanks for sharing the Pit Stop pics Oky and grogall. This is definitely one of my favorites in the line, I simply love Guido! As a big fan of the movie, I've contemplated on collecting the non-LEGO versions before, but now that it's made in our beloved LEGO, I might have to revisit that plan of collecting these (even if it would entail buying almost all of the sets in the line - Ouch my wallet hurts...).

Is it just me or does anyone else just see all the money Disney has payed for new molds... Does anyone else see anything else here that I miss.

They are awesome new sets and I am excited as anyone else, but the first thing I see in every new Disney paid for Lego box... Is money for New Molds.

I love it!

Dam you Lego....that set is C & C (cute and cool) !

My arm will hurt with all this twisting to buy !

And that is not a 3 wide windscreen, 2 wide slope pieces instead - well that's my guess anyway !

Well, Disney isn't paying for the new molds. TLG is, and as far as I can tell there aren't that many new molds in this theme. I can spot 9 new molds with a quick glance. Even the Atlantis theme had more new molds than that last year, not to mention the Hero Factory theme which had about 45 new molds in the first half of this year alone.

Thanks for the pics, grogal! I like the Tokyo set but someone should have told TLC that's not the way the Japanese write things. The letters don't turn 90 degreees, they stay upright..

Well, I would expect the sticker designs to be based on stills from the movie. But whoever was responsible for it, yeah, that seems to be a genuine mistake.

I think they have done something good with this theme. I love the large amount of printed pieces and I would love to see that trend continue. However I feel they overused the printed pieces as many of them can't really be used for most other things. There also seems to be a lot of specialty pieces used to build the cars, and that is a trend I don't like. Just my two sense.

I must say, these sets are turning out to be better than I expected them to be.

The only things that turn me off are the US Prices.

Sure, $8 for one car seems okay, but the V8 cafe for $66 and the Tokyo Circuit for $99?

I'll be definitely buying the two single-packs, maybe Escape at Sea and Spy Zone too.

In some cases, the printed parts that can't easily be reused are ones like Lightning McQueen's windscreen-- parts which would be hard to apply stickers to due to their curved contours. Personally the specialized prints of some parts don't bother me much, since the cars are basically this theme's equivalent to minifigures.

As for having too many specialized pieces, as I said before I've observed only 9 new molds in the cars from this theme, and of those not too many seem overspecialized. The main one I'd consider overspecialized is the part with Lightning's face on it-- most of the others have very useful curves or shapes without much besides the prints keeping them from being used in other sets and themes.

Remember that these are TRU prices, and in this case are marked up. The prices that FBTB reported from Toy Fair are a bit lower all around, progressively. That means that the more expensive the set is from LEGO, the more dollars TRU adds to it. The single cars should be $7, while the V8 Cafe should be $60 and the Tokyo Circuit may be $90 (that one wasn't even listed at Toy Fair in the book, apparently).
