Stardusty Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 I agree that Mater's Tall Tales' are great. "What happened? Well, don't ya remember? You was there too." Heavy Metal Mater is my favourite for a lot of reasons: - Guido sings on the start of the episode, and it sounds so funny - Lighting McQueen looks really cool I really like this theme, but onl because of the characters, so I'm still not sure about buying any set. Not to emntion that they are expensive in Croatia Quote
sharky Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) I was at my local Target today and noticed the Ultimate Build Lighting McQueen had a clearance sticker and was marked down 30%. The original price was $29.99 and they had 3 of them for $20.99. I would have bought one, but I ended up getting the Toy Story Pizza Planet Truck for $19.99. Has anyone else noticed this? It was hard to believe that a set so new would be marked down. I was wondering if it was a mistake. But, they had 3 of them and they scanned at the reduced price on the price checker. None of the other Cars sets were marked down. Edit: Here's a pic from a 2nd Target I found them on clearance. I also noticed Ultimate Build Francesco is also on clearance at some Targets as well. prozac Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 SO I called Lego today to buy some replacement stickers for Set 8638 Spy Jet Escape and after a few minutes the rep tells me that set isn't supposed to be out in the states yet! I told him I bought it about 2 weeks ago at TRU and they had the Big Bentley Bust Out too. All 3 Spy Jet sets had beat up boxes and the bricks punctured the sticker sheet. He said he would replace them for free since it was a quality thing and I said that i didn't figure it was thier fault which is why i was going to pay for them. He stated these 2 sets were supposed to be available exclusively in Europe for a few months before making it to the US and that he would forward the info on to be investigated. Guess I shuold have bought the bentley set too cause I think they are gone now. So has anyone else seen these sets at TRU yet? Quote
minifgure_fan Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) Yeah, I was up at TRU to buy the Earth Dragon the other day, and they had the spy jet, but not big bentley. Odd. I was also at target a few days ago and got Flo's cafe since it was marked down from $60 to $41. SCORE! [EDIT] - Ultimate build McQueen was also marked down at Target. Target clearances are determined on a store-by-store basis. It's essentially computerized, and based on sales at a particular store and a ratio of sales to stock in hand. So, essentially, this means that at the particular Target you went to, this set was low in sales and high in stock. I saw not a single Target with set marked down, but did go tomone with Ultimate Build Francessco marked to the same price. Quote
WhiteFang Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Not sure if I am in the right state of mind. But I am very sure that the LEGO Cars 2 sets are starting to interest me more than just mere "Cars", but it's something very nice to have in a collection, especially after watching the movie last night. Suddenly, all of the released sets made some sense to me! Geez, I think I can expand and exploring into this new theme! Quote

The same happened to me After seeing the film I do think that: TLC should of not inclueded Profeser Z in the Big Bently set because in the flim he does not really have a big role in this sence. More sets should include the 'lemons'.. sigh... tthey will probaly be out in the next wave, more sets for me Quote

It's fun to have a kids movie with guns. At first I though I'd nly get Lightning and Mater. Glad to see I'm not the only one sucked in by this theme. Quote
Morten Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I got hooked on Cars too, and I gave my two sons the MCK-truck and the plane, so I had to get an extra copi of those sets to have a complete collection! Same here I only wanted a Luigi and Guido, then I thought I should get Mcqueen and Mater by buying the £13 sets. When I saw the film I really wanted to buy all of them I now have: Flos v8 cafe All of the £13 sets The boat set Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 That super pack almost made sense and then failed (just like most of the SW ones). Having Guido and Luigi with the rest of the Cars 1 characters makes good sense, but Finn and Z. don't really. Still, I guess this is the only combination of three sets that results in no overlapping. Do these sorts of things need to make sense? I had one in my childhood that was a Castle set and a Spyrius set. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Do these sorts of things need to make sense? No, and I have nothing against it. I was just commenting. (I do find the SW ones to be weird) These are all good sets containing characters that have many interactions. Quote
Oky Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 Yeah, I think the point of this superpack is to get most of the main Cars characters in one buy. In fact, I was planning to buy these three sets just for that reason, and I did buy the first two, but then decided that I want a normal version of Finn, so I skipped on the Escape at Sea. Do these sorts of things need to make sense? I had one in my childhood that was a Castle set and a Spyrius set. How does that not make sense? They could be time-traveling space spies, couldn't they? Oky Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Sorry for the double post (and thread revival), but I just had to share this cool video that I found on the Lego Cars website! I sure hope there will be more! Quote
refriedbeans Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) I'm very excited I'm the first to post about this! Okay I went to Toysrus us today and there was a sign about a Lego Cars event where you can get a Lego Rod "Torque" Redline! The event will be held October 15. I have pictures but they are to large to upload I would gladly send these to someone to put on the website somewhere. Edited October 9, 2011 by refriedbeans Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 (edited) I finally got Cars 2 on Blu Ray/DVD thanks to a BOGO 50% off at TRU. TRU has an exclusive 6th disc. It is all about Lego Cars 2. In it there are Stop Motion animated scenes. They were directed by Patrick Boivin. I have been following some of his work on Youtube for a while. Remember that stop motion animator who animated those transformer cars? Well he animated the Cars 2 Movie Trailer out of legos Official Cars 2 Movie Trailer official movie trailer with Lego Cars toys. The trailer was on the 6th DVD. My wife and I had a good smile watching it. Edited December 6, 2011 by Solscud007 Quote
surrideo Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 That must have taken so much time..................... Thanks for the link, my kids were mesmerised with it Quote
brickie Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 I bought some of the Cars2 sets and they looked great but they just sat there and looked at me. So I built them onto slot cars { very modified }. By attaching a 9V train controller to eachh slot, I was able to have enough power to have 3 or 4 'Cars' racing on each slot. Kids loved it especially if you raced Lightning against Franchesco. Quote
