I think the wizard and jester had preliminary pics, as I remember the color of the beard changed form gray to black in the finished sets and that caused a lot of stir.

Someone mentioned a civilian pack with pitch forks etc.) It is possible they will release such a set without prelims, like the Pharaoh's Quest battle pack which flew under the radar.

Ah that's too bad. I was hoping those impulses were a surprise and we might get more. I'm still hoping that the 30061 and 30062 polybags might fill that role in the coming year. Please Lego, make more of those!

I passed on the 2010 Kingdoms battlepacks. I got about 4 feet away and could spot the defects (prints were way off basically). Not to be a downer or anything, but it really put me off. Here's hoping for a civilian pack or six. That would be awesome.

I'm with you on that one, I got my Kingdoms minifigs in sets and off of Bricklink but I won't touch battle pack figures. (Why go cheap on my favorite theme?)

Speaking about battlepacks, IMO the Kingdoms Advent Calendar is the most value for money. There're 3 soldiers, 2 civilians, 2 royals and a wizard (I ignore the skeleton). In Singapore, they sell for S$35 where each BP sells for S$27. I've been stocking up with calendars.

Oh I wanted an advent calendar but apparently waited too long. They were all sold out her by around December 5th. I'll know better next year.

I suppose it's unlikely however that we'd get another Kingdoms calendar second year in a row? It seems that last years there has been a City calendar and another one for some other theme - City and Kingdoms 2010, City and Pirates 2009, City and Castle 2008, City and Belville 2007. I don't know where the info comes from, but according to Brickset.com this year's calendars will be City (7553) and Star Wars (7958). Not very good options for fans of history themes.

A civilian battle pack (if we are speaking about a good quality one) could be a very nice idea.

A big UCS castle in minifig scale for around 150 euros has been the dream of castle fans for a long long time.

Bah! I waited too long too! Hopefully, the Red Queen and Wizard will appear in a 2012 set. Then again, it would make sense for her to be in the carriage set.

I'm hoping that there is aa 2011 Kingdoms calendar and that it has a more civilian/peasant look to it.

I don't know what everyone else is complaining about - I had no problems at all with my battlepack figures.

The Minifigs found in the battlepacks are made of inferior plastic and often are slightly off-colored or have print defects--not always major ones though. for the most part, I'm fine with it though, as the difference frequently requires a keen eye to spot. Also they have an odd indent in their arm pits.

I wish they hadn't stopped selling the BPs though.

Lego has been saying that they are moving their production from overseas so perhaps that will help a bit with the quality of the battle packs. I have read information saying they are aware of the issues and are working to correct them.

I would imagine with the "Pink Knights" issue they will be watching the newer battle packs. Does anyone know how the Pharaoh's quest battle pack or the new Star Wars battle packs look?

I've got the Pharoah's Quest Battle Pack and I don't find the quality difference to be all that noticeable between the figs from that and the regular set figs. The Battle Pack is a little lower quality, but not by as much as the past. So it does seem to be improving.

If they managed to get the battle pack quality to the quality of collectible minifigures I will be more than happy, I'll leave it at that.

On a funny side note, are any of you getting the "chicken fever", where you can't wait to get your hands on as many as you can and build every variation of a farm/village etc that you can think of?? I sure am.

I also hope they increase the quality of the battle packs, but now that I think about it I probably wouldn't need to buy any more since I plan on buying a ton of the regular sets  Of course if there was a civilian battle pack I would have to invest in that...

I wouldn't say chicken fever, but I definitely have mounted dragon knight fever. I'm also suffering from pitchfork fever, but in this case the sicker I am now the better this summer will be!

Somehow I'm having the houses fever. I need more variations of farm houses. I lack creativity, so depends on official models for my medieval town.

I don't see why they can't just have the BP figure quality be THE SAME as the figures from the sets????

They use different molds from different materials - what with the factory being built in another country. Even if the plastic used is the same, the surface will have a different shininess & smoothness, (and the printing process could be different too). It has been said by some that the plastic used IS actually the same.

They should just make them all in the same plant then and have some consistency. Pick out figs for sets and battlebacks from the same batches.

In a perfect world they would, but I'm afraid it's much more cost effective to outsource.

that would be great, but the reason is they need to make $. If they made collectible figs out of ABS plastic, they would make little to no money.

I'm a little confused by that as well. All my BP figs looked fine. A wee bit 'loose in the joints' perhaps.

I have noticed in some pics by other folks though, that there was a 'pink' problem with the Kingdom knights.

It would be interesting, if the quality of the battlepack figs actually has improved. But, last summer i made a review of the dragon knights battle pack, and on page 2 i posted a comparison picture of a "normal" fig and a battle pack fig, and explained the difference in quality. You may want to check it out here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42598

What plastic are they made out of?

From what I understand they ARE made of ABS, it's just the mixing/molds/quality control that ends up making it different from the others.

Just looked at Brickset; they've already got a description of the Kingdoms sets in the second half of 2011!!

"There are four new Kingdoms sets on the way of which two feature 'ordinary medieval village life', albeit with some marauding knights pillaging the place. The big news is that they feature new minifig-scale animals: chickens (in white and brown) and goats."

CHICKENS! GOATS!
