I think they are blinkers, so the horse only sees straight ahead and doesn't get distracted by other things visible around the place.

They are normally used in horse racing.

Not only horse racing, they are common on heavy horses pullying drays

Which I guess is similar to the horse in this set, a working horse!

Yep, working horses tend to have them to keep them looking straight ahead. Especially clydesdales - the fluffy footed ones. I received the MVR yesterday but haven't had the chance to look at it yet. I will probably agree with you anyway.

Just picked up all 4 new Kingdoms sets today on the way home from work. I have put together all of them except fro the Mill Village Raid set. So far the other 3 smaller sets are very nicely designed and carefully thought out. There are also plenty of unique pieces that I have never seen before. I can't wait to put together the MVR set! Nice job on these Lego! :sweet:

Picked up the Blacksmith Attack from my local Toys R Us; they were selling it for $9.99, which I'm assuming is MSRP? I was also tempted to buy the Village Raid but decided to wait until there was a sale going on, which might be a bad move since I'm sure they'll realize they have the prices set at MSRP and raise them in the coming days/weeks. :sceptic:

I paid $12.99cdn for Blacksmith Attack, $24.99cdn for Escape from Dragons Prison, $49.99cdn for King's Carriage Ambush and $89.99cdn for Mill Village Raid. These are all Canadian prices but considering that our dollar has been on par with the US dollar give or take a couple cents for over the last year I would say that the prices I paid are definitely a rip off. I decided to grin and bear it though because I did not want to wait for a sale. I can see these the larger Kingdoms sets like King's Carriage Ambush and Mill Village Raid selling very slowly here until there is a sale or until Christmas rolls around since they prices are hugely inflated by Lego for the Canadian market.

where did you find them?

Mine is barely getting them I bought the Blacksmith attack and the dragon prison escape last week, but they didn't had the king's ambush or the mill village raid. Today I check the website and try to see if the store I purchase is eligible for pickup at store(usually my cue to make sure they do have them instock) and lo and behold the website says they do have it in stock. Funny thing is that I went there yesterday and didn't see them there, but I shall see, I want to use my discount coupon on that set!

Never heard about that set number, where did you hear about it?

Friend of mine, who has some friend in factory. He tells me news from time to time (the info about pet shop and post office, Shuttle Expedition was correct, so I believe the info about kingdoms set will be true too). Such as that there should be UCS 10223 set named Kingdoms Joust.

Well it would be fun to have such a UCS. If it is a joust I guess it will be more something like the old joust (Classic Castle) rather than the Fantasy Era Final Joust. Could be fun, though I must say that the upcoming wave of sets excites me more. Nevertheless, I'm always happy with more Kingdoms sets

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it yet or not ,but in the lego product catalogue with the QAR on the front ,on the Kingdoms set page theres a castle behind the top left corner of the Windmill.

Interesting if true. The timing is right since Medieval Market Village is on the way out (according to Amazon.com it is discontinued by the manufacturer). If the theme of the set is jousting, I wonder what it would include? Perhaps some tournament tents and food vendors?

Can't tell the release date, the only thing I got are the set numbers, names plus some info about new series, but no identification of the source nor pictures, so the info is not reliable. Let's wait till the pictures are released, even if it is 3 days before start of sale.

My guess about release would be January 2012, as Volkswagen, Executor and Post office with lower numbers have not been released yet.

I think everyone here would be excited about a jousting set, though I have a hard time imagining it as a Direct to consumer set like MMV since there would be only so much you could put in a jousting set...maybe if it had tents, etc. Probably won't see pictures for a while, but it is nice to hear rumors from the pipeline.

For all those who're still eagerly waiting for the sets to arrive in S@H, the sets have finally arrived on the german S@H. So I'd guess they either are already avaiable in the rest of europe as well or they'll hit the shelves within the next days :sweet:

Odd, just checked S@H page for Oz and only the Blacksmith Attack set and it's not to bad at 17.99 I guess with the new parts....though I'll compare with other countries to really see if it's worth the money or not !

@lightningtiger:

The german prices (link to the german site) are 9,99€, 19,99€, 39,99€ and 69,99€ - which means that at the current difference between Dollar and Euro they cost roughly 30% more than in the US :hmpf_bad: This is especially frustrating with the Mill Village Raid, because the difference amounts to more than 20€.

The difference between € and AUD is about 25%, which means that you'd save about 4,5 AUD before shipping if you order the Blacksmith Attack here and about 8 AUD if you order in the US.

Nonetheless, with the exception of the carriage, our price-per-piece-ratio is still quite good and I guess I'll get one copy of the two bigger sets and two or three of the smaller ones to increase my army of dragons

Peterab quoted the Aussie prices a couple of months ago, they are roughly 7/4 times the US prices. $10->$18, $20->$35, $40->$70 & $70->$120 I believe. No surprise that I bought them a lot cheaper from Bricklink.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed it yet or not ,but in the lego product catalogue with the QAR on the front ,on the Kingdoms set page theres a castle behind the top left corner of the Windmill.

Looking at it there are *2* castle structures on the horizon behind the WindMill Raid set. The larger one half behind the upper right blade, which to me seems to look a lot like the silhouette of 7946 Kings Castle, but it's hard to tell for sure. The second on appears to be only slightly blocked by the upper left blade but is at most 1/3 of the height of the right side image, but the silhouette appears to differ greatly from the right side image. It could merely be an image taken from a different angle but the between being a silhouette and teh samll size there's very little to speculate on....

Further perusal of the Kingdoms pages also shows what appears to be an unblocked image of the 7946 Kings Castle on the horizon to the right side on the 7188 Kings Carriage Ambush page as well...

I was thinking maybe lego is doing what they did with Castle teasers, showing shadow images of things to come, because that castle is different from the other Kingdoms sets.
