legolijntje Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) I bought a 8043 today and when I opened it and looked to the instructions, I saw this: In the package were also the stickers. It's the new excavator version. Does someone now what's going on at LEGO? sorry for big pictures, don't now how to resize them) Edited October 22, 2010 by legolijntje Quote

(sorry for big pictures, don't now how to resize them) It must have been to due to all our complains at damaged/crumpled/torn/peeled sticker sheets. Glad to see they took the initiative to avoid future problems! Good on TLG! edit: It would be ironic if *only* the instructions were placed inside that bag and the stickers still loose... jantjeuh Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) Holy unresized humongous pictures, Batman Good to know TLG is taking steps to improve the dire folded instruction-sheets/crippled sticker-sheets situation :) Edited October 22, 2010 by jantjeuh Quote
Benly Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Holy unresized humongous pictures, Batman This thread needs a 64K warning. Heck, even a 512K warning wouldn't be far fetched Quote
phool Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 We can only hope that the trend continues (packaging instructions between cardboard; not posting massive unresized images). Quote
Piratedave84 Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I had dreams of the day Lego would do something about crimpled instructions / destroyed sticker sheets. Lego, once again you live up to my expectations!!!! Let's hope it's a trend which will apply to most larger sets, maybe even smaller!!!! Pirate Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 It is said that the packaging of the instuctions and stickersheet is only in sets over 800 pieces. But... It's a start! Quote
Front Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I was very surprised when I saw the building instruction packed like shown here. It was a delight to open the set back when I "tested" a fresh 8043 set with improved LA. But please don't get your hopes too high. I've also seen how these manuals are packed, and we at LEGO need to figure out an inexpensive and automated way of doing it, before it will be the norm. Front aka Erland, Part Design. Quote

Indeed, But for now all packed sets with more than 800 parts will be having this type of instructions & stickers packaging. Bear in mind though, that it's only sets being packed now and therefore you might actually buy a 8043 that hasn't got this instructions cardboard wrapping. Quote
dr_spock Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Holy huge bandwidth eating pics, Batman. It's great to see that Lego is protecting the instruction booklets and stickers. My 8043 booklets and stickers were bent in the box. I had to flatten them out under a pile of heavy books. Quote
cleong Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Well here's to hoping that the cardboard-backed instruction manuals mean they're the updated kits. Have been messing about with my excavator for the past one day and it all seems fine. The shop that I bought it from assured me it was the fixed one. Quote
jantjeuh Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Well here's to hoping that the cardboard-backed instruction manuals mean they're the updated kits. You can also tell by the production codes on the LA's :) 3x60 or 'higher' means you've got the real deal. Quote
CP5670 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 It's good to see that TLG is at last doing something about the crumpled manuals we often get in large sets. This has been about 10 years overdue though, so I wouldn't give them too much credit for it. Quote
