Well me and my son builds a lot of lego. We done all the modular houses now (he builds, i pick out the parts) Alot of fun.

Of course he likes lego for christmas. Problem is he likes them all.

He have pointed out the big pirat ship, the harry potter castle, the new tower bridge, the space shuttle and the big death star.

I already removed the bridge from the list since i know he cant really play with it.

Space shuttle looks good, but can it really be played with without breaking?

Potter castle looks great and he really loves the lego harry potter game.

The death star looks great and is expensive, but i don't think it will be around much longer, maybe best to get it now? Same problem here however, it looks very "hard" to play with without breaking.

Ship looks cool, but i think its very hard to play with.

Else i can buy 1 big/medium set and a few small once. But then i get something he didnt put on the list :)

Fun problem :)

How old is your son? I'd go for anything Harry Potter,my son loves anything Harry Potter and will most likely be getting a few sets from that theme this christmas amongst others.A castle is much more fun for a kid to play with, especially one thats full of wizards!!!

If it's in the budget, I think the death star will give him the most excitement, plus with so many figs, the play value is huge.

I know it's expensive, but I think it would be the most exciting for a kid.

Oh yes, go for the Death Star if it is within your budget! You will have many, many hours of fun building and lots more of playing! There are, what, thirteen rooms, a basement and an elevator. 25 figs! If your son has seen the OT, this will be THE set of your collection! :classic:

Just remembered - I wrote a whole blog entry on the Death Star set recently, including photos of some of the individual compartments and a description of the play features. You can view it at :

And before anyone picks me up on it, I apologise for mentioning my blog twice in one morning on these forums - I promise not to do it again ! It's just a big coincidence that 2 topics arose today, both of which I've blogged about recently.

Anyway, hope the info is useful.

I agree! The Death Star is very playable, one of the most playable sets I have purchased, don't that playability scare you away. IT wont be around for more than another year or two.
