I finally got the ring sorted out, so thank you for everyone's help! But I just noticed something new, which has something to do with the Fabuland Broom (Part 4322). As shown in this image, I turned the Broom upside down and placed it into a round plate with a hole. However, the first time I did that, I inserted the Broom until it could go no deeper, and it was removed the next time I opened the file. Simply speaking, placing the broom too deep will cause it to be removed. Next, this Mini Head (Part 3626) has two tiny extra bits of printing on one side. Finally, below is a recap on two errors I reported earlier.

First, three bricks have a colour included in their names, but they are not necessarily provided in those colours in the Regular Mode Of LDD. The first one is Ball Ø 52 mm, Charcoal grey (Part 23065), which is provided in Dark Stone Grey, Medium Stone Gery, Bright Red, Bright Yellow and Bright Blue. Next is the Gold Ingot (Part 99563), which is provided in Medium Stone Grey and Silver Metallic. Finally, the Antique Key, Gold (Part 62808) is provided in Dark Stone Gery. These bricks should be clarified as their names are quite confusing at the moment. Next, some Bricks have a slightly incorrect name. The most obvious example are the four wigs made especially for the Harry Potter Theme, including Harry Potters Wig (Part 40233), Hagrids Wig (Part 40238), Dumbledores Wig (Part 40239) and Rons Wig (Part 40240). All the names of these wigs should have an 's after the name of each character, instead of just an s. If we look at the Boy's Wig, Horse's Tail (Part 95226), we can see that LEGO has included this before, so they should do the same for the four wigs mentioned above.

I have a major problem installing LDD on Windows 7. It keeps saying: "dgbhelp.dll is either not deigned of run on Windows or it contains an error." Reinstalling LDD did not solve it. I have it working under Windows 8 on my laptop but I wanted to make a pov-ray render and that is so slow on my laptop (virtual machine, it's a Mac and the scene is quite large). Any ideas?

PROBLEM:

It looks like LDD changed two parts from one to another - in build 1264 brick #3957 had rounded top tip as it should be (#3957 should be the original old one) but now in build 1564.2 it is actually brick #30064 that has such top tip and #3957 has flat top tip, so now all my sets that have #3957 having flat top tip instead of round top tip... :sceptic:

Another error I just found: In the Regular Mode of LDD, I could only find the Eagle Wing Right (Part 11777), but not the Eagle Wing Left (Part 11778). Instead I found the Left Wing only existing in LDD Extended. As a pair of wings is more unique which needs to exist side-by-side, could the Left Wing be added in the Regular Mode of LDD?

I found a bug after ordering parts from Bricklink

1x1 round studs do no connect securely to the top of the minifigure cupcake piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=93082g in real life. Yet its a viable connection in LDD.

I wanted to attach the whipped cream topping piece https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=15470 IRL to make some Nixel Cupcakes but found out that they don't stay on securely

Found a bug with part 15627. The attachment points for window panes are seemingly too close together, preventing two of the window pane 60608 from being used together.

It's a shame that the grooves on a 1x2 Grille Tile can't mesh, because I have a Tiny Turbo-esque Euro Box Truck minibuild which relies on this obscure technique to prevent the chassis from flexing too much, thus ensuring that all the wheels make contact.

argh_015.jpg

The pic shows the part before I positioned it by editing the LXFML, but reopening the file just forces the grille on the back of the cab to be removed.

Not sure if this is a bug but whenever I'm trying to attach bricks to the top of a large plate it wants to prioritize attaching it to the bottom of the plate instead. Even when the camera is looking directly above the plate. I have to add a baseplate or an inverted tile to keep it from doing that.

I've actually already sent this bug report in some time ago, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. :sceptic:

(PS: Cool idea BTW :classic:)

It's a known error. I believe it has to do with the algorithm that searches for connections. For some cases it fails.

I couldn't find a suitable piece of glass for the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154) in LDD, but from my research it seems that there is no such piece in reality. The only piece which is currently used with it is the Wicket 4x4 (Part 6155), which is attached to the back of the frame. If you compare the the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154) with the Window Frame 1x4x5 (Part 2493), you can notice four holes on both frames in the front, two on top and two directly below in the bottom. As there is a Glass 4x5 (Part 2494) which fits into the Window Frame 1x4x5 (Part 2493), attached via the four holes, my question is: is there a corresponding glass for the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154)?

According to BrickLink, only a couple of non transparent door fits the 6154, but I guess you already checked that.

Besides that, at least I don't know any glass that would fit.

Thanks for the information. That is the same Brick as the Wicket 4x4 (Part 6155), but in a different name. If no glass is known to fit the frame, then I wonder what the four holes on the Frame 1x4x4 (Part 6154) are for as the Wicket 4x4 (Part 6155) is attached opposite the four holes. Edited by suenkachun

Here's a bug I saw in another topic but not found by me.

Part 92903 is called Brick With Bow 1x1x2 but should be called Brick With Bow 1x3x2. A Brick with a similar shape Part 92903 is called Brick 1x3x2 W/Ins And Outs.Bow and proves this naming bug.

In the latest version of LDD (Version 4.3.8, Brick Version 1564.2), this connection (Plate 1x1 Round) is not possible, although several of the Friends Sets use this connection (such as Set 41006 Downtown Bakery and Set 3061 City Park Cafe). Therefore should this become a bug of LDD again (only add connectivity for all 1x1 Round Plates but not other Bricks)? I'm working on a Bakery and need this build to make some simple cupcakes (like those in the Friends Sets).

EDIT: The Friends Set 41034 Summer Caravan uses the 1x1 Decoration Top No. 1 connection, so if the Plate 1x1 Round connection is made possible the 1x1 Decoration Top No. 1 should also connect to the Cupcake Piece (M4).

Here's a small problem related to the two LEGO Computer Keyboards (both printed on a 1x2 Flat Tile respectively) as seen in this image. The upper two Keyboards show the original printings, where the White Keyboard has a clearer printing than the Dark Stone Grey Keyboard. The lower two Keyboards are produced by reversing the colours of the two Keyboards in LDD Extended, which further shows the differences between the two printings. At first I thought this was only a problem existing in LDD, but this seems to be a real-life problem as well. According to Brickset, there are three variations of the Keyboard.

4293350 Flat Tile 1X2, Keyboard (link)

4200903 Flat Tile 1X2 No. 79 (the less common one/link)

4493478 Flat Tile 1X2 No. 79 (link)

By comparing the images of the three Keyboards, you can clearly see that the White Keyboard has a clearer printing compared to the two Dark Stone Grey Keyboards. Therefore there Dark Stone Grey Keyboard should have a clearer printing.

EDIT: After viewing the printings more closely, I realised that the White Keyboard has no space in between the edge of the Flat Tile and all its Keys, so the Dark Stone Grey Keyboards have a smaller and therefore blurred printing. As a result, can the printing quality of the Dark Stone Grey Keyboards be enhanced even after a slight size reduction?

It's almost impossible to place anything inside the Box 3x4 (Part 30150). I tested this with most of the Bricks which can fit inside the Box and many of them could only be inserted directly on top of the Box or beneath it, but not inside it. The only exceptions are the 1x1 Bricks/Plates/Flat Tiles and the corresponding taller/wider Bricks (1x2x2, 1x1x3, 1x1x5, 1x2x5, 1x3x5 and Column 1x1x6), which can be inserted inside the Box directly or by placing the Box beneath the Brick(s).

The box is one of those temperamental parts where the camera angle plays a part in how things can connect to it. I assume it's because the little crenellations on the long edges count as connection points, making LDD's Brain-o-Matic all hot and bothered when trying to work with it. Superkalle can probably confirm this in less silly terms.

I could only place a 2x3 brick inside the box when the camera elevation was low. Some things suddenly work when the camera is almost completely overhead. Whenever these tricks don't work, you can still force things to fit by building a simple brick scaffolding above the box with the right amount of space for a part to snap between them.

That's funny, I actually never took notice of this until now.

For example placing 2x3 brick is pretty difficult until you "come in from the side".

But this makes me curious - is there any brick that just can't be placed in the box at all with the "normal" methods. You mentioned there should be some, but which?

No, that's actually the term for it
