Zerobricks Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 (edited) I am not sure this has been reported but neither of the two chain links can be connected to any type of gears. You just need to work arround it...just lay some link near the tooth gear and use hinge tool to loop them arround. Edited November 14, 2010 by Zblj Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Another bug I encountered when I was doing 7738: The hole of the 75535b cannot be connected to a stud. Quote
roamingstop Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 That is an interesting one. I assume you mean that a 6961 cannot attach to four 30565 placed as a circle? I wonder if this is a brick bug or not? Because for it to work, LDD would have to know when four 30565 have been placed, and only then allow connectivity, and I don't think LDD at the moment has conditional connectivity. True. But adding plates underneath does not solve it either as it cannot close tightly to the studs of 30565. Anyway easy to work around. Quote
Aanchir Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 You just need to work arround it...just lay some link near the tooth gear and use hinge tool to loop them arround. I actually made a template for that, at least around 24-tooth gears. I'll see about making one for all the sizes of gears that those work for. Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 When I was doing 7643, I encountered this bug: the 41531 cylinder piece cannot be inserted in this step due to the protruding 1x2 part of a 2x8 plate. Here's the LXF. I did a minor modification just to complete the LDD of the set (replaced the 2x8 plate with a 2x6 and completely inserted inside the body so there won't be any protruding part). Quote

Aanchir Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) Piece 45705 has an annoying collision error with parts placed beside it at a particular interval: Also, the radar dish 4285 cannot be recessed into the wheel piece 44772 the amount required to complete set 8118 Hybrid Rescue Tank. Superkalle Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 Another bug I experienced when I was doing Set 7738: 61483 piece cannot be connected in the hole in the underside of the helicopter, but the instructions clearly states it can. Can you try it again. There should be a sweet spot where it should connect, but you have to be very precise with the mouse. Quote
Superkalle Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 All bugs so far reported to TLG. Quote

I did several exercises to verify/confirm this error, and here are the results: a) 61483 fits in the technic hole of the orange piece alone b) 61483 fits in the technic hole of the black 2x8 piece alone c) 61483 still does not fit in the combined technic hole of the orange piece-2x8 black plate piece set-up stated in the instructions d) I used the 61483 piece in another LDD set that I made (3222), and it fit the technic hole of the dark bley piece Conclusion: 61483 fits in the technic hole of single pieces, but not the two plate thick set-up as in set 7738. Here's the LXF file if you (or anyone) would like to verify this. Edited November 15, 2010 by KielDaMan Quote

Here's the LXF file if you (or anyone) would like to verify this. I can tell you what the problem is. The piece probably does fit in a stack of two Technic plates just fine. The reason it doesn't work with the aircraft piece and a Technic plate combined is an error I mentioned earlier: the fact that that aircraft piece is thicker than a regular plate. This should not be the case, and caused major problems for me when trying to build the Thunder Driller set from the Power Miners theme. Once that aircraft piece is corrected, your problem should be solved. Quote

The aircraft piece might probably be thicker than the normal plates as you said. Great spotting! Quote
Aanchir Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 (edited) Just had a collision error with parts 40387 (Mosasaur, Upper Jaw) and 40374 (Body, 5x2x4 with bush, right). When the neck is angled upwards 22.5 degrees from a horizontal position, the Mosasaur jaw collides with the body. In real life this is not the case. Here's an image: Note that if part 40374 is removed, though, the jaw fits just fine-- despite that the part it's attached to is symmetrical with it: Clearly, then, the error is with part 40374 and not any of the other parts involved. Also, part 30489 (Ceratops Head) has an even more egregious error: it will not connect with the neck piece 40375 at all. It connects fine with other parts that have Technic holes, so there seems to be a collision error involved here. There's also a rather tame error with parts 40395 and 40396, two neck/tail pieces: the Technic pins on the actual parts are colored black, while the rest of the piece is colored a second color. In LDD, these parts cannot be dual-colored. This never interferes with construction, but it is still a problem if you want to go for exactness. Edited November 15, 2010 by Aanchir Quote

Aanchir Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 The stern piece 47404 cannot allow the slope piece 47457 to attach in the position required by the instructions of set 8078 Portal of Atlantis. I can't verify at the moment that this connection works with the actual brick. but I know for certain that if it didn't it would have been obvious to the designers-- a piece in compression from that angle would automatically want to pop out of place as soon as it was attached (if attaching it in compression were possible in the first place, which it might not be). It should defintely fit - otherwise there wouldn't be a stud there (at least that's my conclusion). Quote
Aanchir Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 It should defintely fit - otherwise there wouldn't be a stud there (at least that's my conclusion). Not necessarily, because there are plenty of parts that fit on studs that have a much smaller footprint-- for instance, a 1x1 round plate. Still, I think that it would be obvious to the designers if the part didn't fit right, so I doubt the connection is truly illegal. Quote

Yes, and there also seems to be a small indent in the bow bricks to enable a brick to fit. Oh, and BTW. I reported all the bugs you found on that Atlantis set. The only thing I didn't get was the frog. Quote
BrickWild Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Here's one that you haven't noticed earlier! I was making a simple telephone set and on the bottom of the slope brick, you can see the keypad decal in the wrong place! Quote
