Question about SCALA part

Does anyone know if this piece (6942) was ever made without a hole through the center. In the newer sets (Like Battle of Endor), the disc has a hole through it, but has it always had this even in the late 90's scala sets?

This isn't 100% proof, but in 3119 from 1998 (the part first appeared in 1997) it is used as a light shade and you can see the antenna piece going right though.

So to me the answer is yes, the hole was always there.
