simonjedi Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 Hey all. I'm a big fan of the BBC Sci-fi comedy Red Dwarf and I decided to create the title ship into Lego. I decided to base it on the classic small red brick style model rather than the Pencil shape CGI version most of you will be familiar with. Here's a reference pic: Some more pics: I'm not entirely happy with the way the front bit has turned out, but it's the only way i could get it together without lots of plates. Thanks for looking. Comments and criticism welcome. Quote
Chris Phipson Posted October 30, 2010 Posted October 30, 2010 For some reason I can't see the pics (must be my work computer blocking the images) but any fan of Red Dwarf gets my vote! Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast! ~Chris. Quote
Solscud007 Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Very nice. Im a Red Dwarf fan thanks to my brother. I even had a Curry with poppadoms when I was in england back in July. FANTASTIC!!!! Now you need custom Kryten, Cat, Dave, and Ace hehe Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 That's a great LDD MOC simonjedi, I'm not at all familiar with the Red Dwarf, buy your LDD model sure looks accurate with the real ship based on the reference pic. Good job! Quote
Tobbe Arnesson Posted November 1, 2010 Posted November 1, 2010 Nice! Instant recognition! Will you do it in minifig scale as well? ;) I've seen a few Starbugs but not the main ship. Quote
gedren_y Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Wonderful. Too bad you can't buy it because it was made with pieces that are not available. So, which version of Holly is driving this Red Dwarf? Quote
De-Brickifier Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 It really looks like the actual thing! Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 This looks really good. Any plans on actually building it? I haven't watched Red Dwark in years. It used to come on right after Doctor Who Sunday nights on PBS. I think I saw everything through the end of the fifth season. My favorite lines had to be at the end of the second season: Female Rimmer (to the Listers): How could you sleep with yourself? Make Rimmer: Why break the habit of a lifetime? Classic Quote
rriggs Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) Nice! Did you try and join up the front end at all? I can't think of a way to do it off the top of my head but it would finish it off nicely... You going to try a minifig scale version next....??? HaHaHa! Cheers Rog PS - For those of you that are not fans of the show the Red Dwarf ship is 6 miles (10 km) long, 5 miles (8 km) tall, and 4 miles (6 km) wide! Edited November 16, 2010 by rriggs Quote
