Globemaster Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Hi everyone, I'm in the planning stages of building a new ship and I was wondering what do you guys prefer for deck colour? From what I've seen, reddish brown and tan seems to be the standard, but there's an abundance of dark tan plates on bricklink these days at low prices and I'm leaning towards getting the dark tan cause of the cost. Anyone have any experience with this colour or pictures of ships with this deck colour? I personally don't have any bricks in dark tan so I'm just going off pictures I see online Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 Captain Blackmoor has made ships with a lot of dark tan plates. You can see them here. I think it looks very nice and realistic. Tan and dark tan are both nice. The only problem with dark tan plates is that there are no 1x..plates, they are all 2 studs wide. So they are all like this (or bigger) instead of this But there are 1x2 plates. So they are both nice, but normal tan would be easier, certainly on smaller ships. Quote
Fluyt Posted November 3, 2010 Posted November 3, 2010 The availability of the right pieces in the colour you want are a fairly big factor, like Admiral Croissant said, with the 1xX and 2xX plates for example, or with wedge/"wing" plates. It also depends on the other colours you're going to use on the ship. I personally think tan, dark tan, brown, reddish brown and light grey all look good on a deck, but it's just personal preference. Big Cam Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I agree, availablity is probably going to be your biggest factor. The tan pieces for me will forever be PoP pieces though. I'd really like to see a ship in that color though, I'm sure it would quickly change my mind. Quote
