Palathadric Posted May 3, 2013 Posted May 3, 2013 I own next to none of the sets I built here, although I certainly wish that I did. The render that I always remembered since I first saw it is this one. It's just awesome That is ridiculously awesome. *oh3* Quote
lego2lego Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Yeah, the advancement in compute generated graphics is just awesome these day. But I'm think about photographs and if a rendered image can be made so it is ABSOLUTELY impossible to distinguish from a photo. I mean, if you zoom in on a photo you can always spot small blemishes (color deviations in bricks, dust speckles, finger prints etc). So, I'm basically asking for cases where someone would enter a render in a MOC contest, and it would be completely and utterly impossible to spot that it's a render. Has such renders ever been made? http://www.indigorenderer.com/content/great-lego-render-schosch Would you be able to tell, if you didn't know it was fake? Quote

Calabar Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 The big error is obviously the lack of an actual Wampa. Poor Chewbacca is standing in for it. You could try a brick build solution. For example here there are custom solution for Jabba and a tauntaun. Quote

Walter Kovacs Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I've made a (giant) brick-built Wampa for the Hoth Wampa Cave above. Let me know if you like it. I'm not certain I do. Quote
C3POwen Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 (edited) I've made a (giant) brick-built Wampa for the Hoth Wampa Cave above. Let me know if you like it. I'm not certain I do. Brick-built solutions can go two ways, and I personally feel that the wampa is not as strong as the Jabba you used in "4480 Jabba's Palace". However, about a year ago I exported the body parts for the wampa from LDD (as a lot of LDraw parts are created like this) but didn't do anything with them. I thought I'd tidy them up a bit (fix their position and add a little colour) in case you wanted to use them in your render. Of course, they're not official parts, and I don't plan on submitting them to the LDraw Parts Tracker as they need a lot of work done to them, but for rendering purposes, you're more than welcome to use them. 87562p01.dat - Wampa Body 87564p01.dat - Wampa Arm Right 87565p01.dat - Wampa Arm Left These parts can be placed into the following folder to avoid mixing them up with the official library: C:\Program Files\LDraw\Unofficial\Parts (assuming that LDraw is installed at "C:\Program Files\LDraw" - for 64-bit Windows it's "C:\Program Files (x86)\LDraw"). I also put all of the parts together in an LDR file, along with the Technic pins to attach the arms and croissants for horns (as the tauntaun horns don't yet exist in either LDraw or LDD): LDR file Edited May 18, 2013 by C3POwen Added 64 bit info Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 5541 Blue Fury (Model B) [Model Team, 1995] Errors: - One of the hinges that attaches the steering rack doesn't quite join, due to the lack of give that real parts normally have. I just opened your file and could not find the error you are referring too. The steering works in the animation console of SR3D,which requires all the relevant parts to be connected probably. Quote
C3POwen Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 I just opened your file and could not find the error you are referring to. The steering works in the animation console of SR3D,which requires all the relevant parts to be connected probably. The actual parts used for steering are joined up, but there are two hinges that are used to attach the steering rack to the chassis, and the one further back won't clip in like it should: Quote
