___ Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) Well, thanks ! I'm beveling every corner of the parts, so you can see this kind of "separation" in between them. I'm using the LGEO library which can give you the possibility to replace standard ldraw stud by marked ones. I'm creating a LGEO parts to replace the ldraw part for rendering, I can then, choose to modify every surface of a part to a grainy one if I want. You're right, I will correct that asap. Thanks for your answers, Darats...now - as of yesterday evening as I finally achieved all I wanted using my LDD/Blender rendering tandem - I see we doing basically the same (although in another SW's) without knowing about each others way of work, nice :) I don't know what software you are using LDD or a LDraw application, but there are some pretty good guides in these forums. I wish to answer your questions but I don't want to "pollute" this thread. Maybe your question can be moved (by an admin) to the relevant forum (rendering LDraw with Povray) and I will be glad to offer you some advice, Thanks, we stay in contact about this stuff as I wrote you...appreciated your suggestions you gave me, they help big time! ;) Edited May 9, 2014 by bublible Quote
Darats Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 sorry to tell you but NOT TRUE: as I own this set personaly I have to tell youmthat those rear gray tails are BLACK ;) Corrected! Quote

lego2lego Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 (edited) 8860 Car Chassis (1980) - Technic Download Errors: Rubber bands on both chairs are missing as Lsynth doesn't allow for twisting it, and I had to resort to some tricks to get some things right. The rear suspension has to be compressed in order to have all wheels aligned, so the spring is a bit more higher up into the cylinder than physically possible. And due to the "challenging" way bricksmith let's you angle parts, I had to shorten the diagonal part of the steering axle to make it fit. Edited May 15, 2014 by lego2lego Quote

I'm creating a LGEO parts to replace the ldraw part for rendering, I can then, choose to modify every surface of a part to a grainy one if I want. If I may ask: in what SW are you making your LGEO parts? I could look to it myself too then and decide which way suits my need better ;) Edited May 19, 2014 by legolijntje Removed images to keep page clean Quote

It will be corrected soon. Thanks for notifying me. I will add more blackness to the tyres, will see how it renders. About the gold color. I will try to improve it later. If I may ask: in what SW are you making your LGEO parts? I could look to it myself too then and decide which way suits my need better ;) I'm re-creating the part from scratch in a CAD software (I'm using CATIA V5), then export to STL, then use STL2POV to make it readable by POV. From that I get a file xxxx.inc with the mesh in it. Then I'm making a lg_xxxx.inc (compatible with the LGEO format) file which will use xxxx.inc and add studs, colors if needed, slope surfaces if needed, etc... To sum up, I have for each custom LGEO part : a xxx.inc file with the geometry inside and a lg_xxxx.inc with the LGEO specification inside. If you want further detail, PM me, or create another topic, not to pollute too much this one. I have around 200 parts like that I've recreated. (quite difficult to share as some with very detailed geometry are weighting more than 50 Mb) This is what I've recreated : here Quote

___ Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Corrected OK, and one more thing: from the picture it is not clear but are you aware of the fact that all slopes there should have the grain on their slew parts INCLUDING PC SLOPE BRICKS? Quote
Darats Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 All my slopes have the grainy surface. Check my Flickr account for higher res pics. In that case you can barely see it, as the camera is a bit too far away. But believe me, the grain is there. Quote

Darats Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Thanks for you comments. About the colors, I've already spent a lot of time tweaking them. I came to a result satisfying enough for me and I don't really want to change them much. Exept the black rubber one that I have darkened a bit following your advices. :) Quote

legolijntje Posted May 19, 2014 Author Posted May 19, 2014 So, here is the next index update. Not a big one (and I wanted to build some model too, but I'm busy working on instructions), but nonetheless a very good update.
