MOC: Ye Olde Country Cockfight

Hello Everybody,

This is my next entry in the CCCVIII contest over at ClassicCastle.com:

"When the work is done for the day, the English peasantry and country folk from all about gather to the cockpit to watch the birds go at each other. It attracts quite a crowd, and everyone bets on the bird they think will carry the day. Thievery is also rampant, as evidenced by the fellow by the cockpit, under the old oak tree with the knife and hood."

Nice one. The MMV influence is clearly recognizable: not just the birds, but the table, tree and minifigure choices as well. That doesn't take away anything from the scene though.

I remember seeing a program at Animal Planet in which they punished people who had chickens for fighting games.

But it's a nice MOC, an original idea and you did a good job on the birds

Thanks, and yes, I relied heavily on MMV for this. The chickens are actually the chickens found in MMV with a few changes thrown in.

Not bad, I wish there was more of a definable pen for the chickens, but the scene looks good, very depictive of a cockfight as seen on movies and such.

Nicely done ye Olde Pirate, it's actually the first time I've seen a cockfight MOC. Though I agree with Big Cam, the pen should have been higher and not just one brick tall. The use of a fence or additional panel piece would have been better. But still, good job on this one.

I totally agree. I've been in one years ago (peer pressure from friends), and I swear it was really disheartening seeing those cocks forced to kill each other with all of the greedy patrons cheering.

Thanks! Yes, I was thinking of the 1970's era miniseries "Roots" when I was making this.

Very nice little scene you've got going on here. I really like the pathway leading up to it from the side.

Surprisingly, I had "Animal Cops: Philadelphia" playing before, and they were arresting cock-fighting ring leaders. Sad in real life, but as far as LEGO scenes go, I love it!
