Jameson42 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 My newest CC style building, inspired by a recent purchase of the original Hogwart's Castle (stairs, lion heads). Tons of snotwork and a couple techniques I've never tried before. I'm super happy with how this turned out. I wasn't really trying for any particular architectural style... this whole building is more of an experiment that ended up looking mildly Asian. I'm happy to read your comments and constructive criticism! Mr. Wong's Curio Shop by Jameson42, on Flickr Quote
Flare Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Cool, it looks fairly oriental but not overly, nice job! Quote
buddy Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Excellent MOC, Jameson42! The building does have an oriental look to it. I like the way you have built the lampost out the front of the shop, I also like the overall look of it, it is very accurate. Very well done. ~buddy~ Quote
greg3 Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Nice!! I really like the steps at the front.... Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 10, 2010 Posted November 10, 2010 Excellent creation 'Jameson42', the steps, the colours used and those lion head pieces really make it for this building ! Keep on MOCing ! Quote
XimenaPaulina Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Great job on this Jameson42, I really like this shop a lot, especially the tiled edges and the various SNOT techniques that you used. The color combo looks rather nice too. Very well done! Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Very nice and beautiful with the use of these colour combination. The front of the house looks grand and oriental, and yet it leaves others a western feel. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Very nice Jameson! I like the colourscheme, and all the different techniques. Usually I don't like seeing studs in a SNOT-like building like this, but the studs line just above the door is a nice detail in this MOC. Good job Quote
Jameson42 Posted November 11, 2010 Author Posted November 11, 2010 Thank you for the nice comments, everyone! Very nice Jameson! I like the colourscheme, and all the different techniques. Usually I don't like seeing studs in a SNOT-like building like this, but the studs line just above the door is a nice detail in this MOC. Good job The stud line above the door is mainly there because the lion heads are at an angle. It's hard to tell from the photo, but they lean forward about 30 degrees so that they take up 2 studs worth of horizontal space instead of 1 stud worth. I considered putting cheese on top of them instead, but I don't have any tan cheese yet. Quote
Honeybee Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Yep im loving the oriental look too, well done, nice detail. Quote
