April 19, 201113 yr All right. I have to say I think simply feeling for parts is a heck of a lot easier and more reliable than trying to use the dot system. I do admire the effort, though! Oh, I completely agree! BUT: (from experience) it's quicker to narrow down what you're looking for while you're standing in the middle of Target's toy aisle by looking up a dot code... and THEN feel the pack just to make sure what you've got is what you want. Just sayin'.
April 19, 201113 yr S4 is at target around here for a week now. I found it interesting that they got special packaging. They come in packed racks of 120 Minifigures and the rack is designed to be put on an endcap. The distribution also seems to differ from the standard boxes but I haven't opened all of my figs to see what the actual distribution is. I can say that in the Target rack, there appear to be 10 HazMat Guys for every 120 count box. -Davey

April 19, 201113 yr S4 is already everywhere here in Finland, since a couple of weeks ago. S3 can still be found in some of the stores who haven't sold all of their bags yet, but has mostly disappeared (it was on clearance at 1.5e in some chains just before the arrival of S4). S2 can still be found... if you know where to look for ;) Comments welcome. Thanks a lot for your dots sheets! So it was true after all what I speculated in the other thread, that the EU dots pattern are often the reverse of the US ones... Edited April 19, 201113 yr by Legoist
April 19, 201113 yr Thanks a lot for your dots sheets! So it was true after all what I speculated in the other thread, that the EU dots pattern are often the reverse of the US ones... You're Welcome. I don't know about US ones, but certainly a lot of the European ones I had (from Denmark, FYI) were mirrored to those of the Australian-release ones.
April 19, 201113 yr What? I certainly haven't seen that! Do you (or anyone else) have a pic handy? I didn't even think to take one when I bought them the other day. The girl at Target brought out a box and said, "I can sell you all 120 in the display but I can't sell you the actual display." But I did some searching on Flickr and found a picture for you. Each display is 3 x 5 in terms of Minifigure packets, holds 120 figgys, and looks like this. Hope that helps. -Davey
April 19, 201113 yr I'll have to keep an eye out for those Target packs... oddly, out of 5 different Targets I've made my way too in the past few months around here, only ONE has carried the CMFs at all... and that was Series 3, and none of them currently have series 4.
April 19, 201113 yr S4 in my local TRu in Tucson, Az. S3 abundantly available at my local Walmart. So far, I've picked up the Hazmat guy, the scientist, the geisha, the punk rocker, and the sailor.
April 19, 201113 yr Those racks are about the same as the ones I've seen for Series 2 and 3 at Wal-Mart stores. But there was never more than one of the Wal-Mart ones up at any given time, and I'm not sure if the design is exactly the same, so there might have been some redesigning between series. The only place I've found Series 4 is an independent toy store in Keene, NH, but admittedly I haven't checked too many other stores lately. I'll have to investigate the Wal-Mart near Brattleboro, VT sometime soon. Something to note is that the toy store I checked in Keene originally didn't have the Series 4 box out for people to see. But when I asked when Series 4 would be coming in, the man at the register pulled it out from behind and said that he was only putting it out for people who requested, since the store was still trying to sell all their Series 3 minifigures. Now, though, they have both boxes on the counter side-by-side.

For those going to Target, have them check the DPCI number for you. It's 204000463. Chances are that they have the figures in the stockroom and have just not put them out yet. "Shelf Date" for them is April 24th, but they are not what is called "Street Dated". This means that they won't put them on the shelves until April 24th...but since they are not "Street Dated" they can still sell them to you right out of the back room. The only downside here is you really can't ask to "feel the bags" for what you want. You just take what you get...or buy a complete case. ;-) -Davey

Those racks are about the same as the ones I've seen for Series 2 and 3 at Wal-Mart stores. Now, though, they have both boxes on the counter side-by-side. Interesting. So far I've seen Series 4 at Toys 'R' Us and a couple smaller indie stores (part of franchises, but independently owned), but given the other information in the thread I do now fully expect to see them in the other places I haven't seen them yet but which have had the previous series. The only odd thing remaining for me is that of the five Walmarts here, only one has ever carried any of the minifigures as far as I can tell; it's had Series 2 and 3, and I now expect it to have Series 4 soon if it hasn't just gotten it already. I'm just mystified as to why the other four stores here apparently never carry these. I'll have to keep an eye out for those Target packs... oddly, out of 5 different Targets I've made my way too in the past few months around here, only ONE has carried the CMFs at all... and that was Series 3, and none of them currently have series 4. From Davey's post, it sounds like we don't have to worry: For those going to Target, have them check the DPCI number for you. It's 204000463. It sounds to me like it'll be at Targets everywhere, then, as Series 2 and 3 both were. Certainly given the way these things tend to sell, it's hard to imagine any store chain (especially one that's always carried LEGO anyway) opting not to carry a given series after having easily sold all their stock of previous series... _______________________________________________________ Man, Series 3 is an absolute wallet-killer. All the series have been to some extent, but this one seems particularly bad, because there are so many "army-builder" type figures one might reasonably want lots of, or even lots and lots of - the musketeer, the hazmat guy, the sailor, the soccer player, the hockey player... it just goes on and on. I will love to get that packaging and knows the exact distribution. I couldn't mind to get more since almost all minifigures in Series 4 rock.
April 20, 201113 yr Poking around Westfields, I couldnt find series four in the LEGO shop! But I bought a load of them in GAME with Crisis 2 so I'm happy.

But with the 24th right around the corner, I might check and see if they have a box to sell me.
April 20, 201113 yr I was pleasantly surprised to find FOUR boxes of Series 4 (I see what they did there) at my TRU today, two partials and two sealed! I was able to fish out the Hazmat, Gnome, Musketeer, and Scientist I'd been hunting for. I've now found all of my favorites from this series; bring on Series 5! :D
April 20, 201113 yr Gotta say... finally picked up that figure skater this weekend, and it surprised me how much I like that fig. The skates, the great white legs assembly painted yellow to look like she's wearing figure skates, and all those stars!! Gonna look great on the pond by the Winter Candy Shop!
April 23, 201113 yr Thanks Cobra for that. I think that someone said that it was completely random where the figs were, though. My Argos has series 4 again. I got the ice skater, werewolf, sailor and the artist. However, when I got home, the artist turned out to be a scientist, which I already have . I'll put him up for trade, because I know some people want more than one. Edited April 23, 201113 yr by Gregorovich
April 24, 201113 yr I was messing around with my minifigure parts, and I noticed something about the figure skater's hair. It's quite a bit darker than the light yellow of Elsa and Willie from Indiana Jones' hairpieces, but it's not quite as dark as tan pieces. What colour is it?
April 25, 201113 yr I was messing around with my minifigure parts, and I noticed something about the figure skater's hair. It's quite a bit darker than the light yellow of Elsa and Willie from Indiana Jones' hairpieces, but it's not quite as dark as tan pieces. What colour is it? It's still the same color as in Indiana Jones sets, 226 Cool Yellow (BL's Bright Light Yellow). Keep in mind that any color will have variability within it, although colors that vary especially obviously will be perceived as quality errors (and to an extent, that's exactly what they are). Also, some colors have their formulations adjusted slightly over the years, although TLG generally tries to keep the differences imperceptible or near-imperceptible unless the color is an entirely new one with an entirely different MaterialID.
April 25, 201113 yr Had three boxes of Series 4 in my local Warehouse store and someone had been through and taken all of the Hazmat guys and Hockey Players . With no barcodes to identify I've noticed a lot of the packets in the stores now are getting 'scrunched up' and some have even been broken open as there was a Skateboarder and Musketeer lying freely in the box. I'm finding this series the hardest to identify with feeling so does anyone have any tips of what to feel for when looking for specific figs? Mainly the Hazmat guy as I am really keen to get him but have no clue how big that suit thing is or what it feels like. A lot of this series has lots of small parts and its hard to isolate them and make a call. Thanks

I've never heard of the collectible minifigures being so thoroughly ransacked, and I hope that doesn't become a widespread problem. I know it was sometimes an issue with the collectible packs in the BIONICLE theme, which probably explains why the packaging for the collectible minifigures is so sturdy.
