Aanchir Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Hmm...I wonder if this means that the 'ice skates' will now make an appearance in system sets? That would be wicked-cool. As it is though, I'm going to have to snag a bunch of hockey players and ice skaters, just so I can use the skates on my 'winter village bakery' skating rink. Also...though I love that new beard and it looks great in white, I think it's about time we got beards in colours OTHER THAN white and grey. Aside from 'stubble' on minifig faces, I think the only fig with a dark beard is Hagrid. Yes? Nope. See here, here, here, and here. White and gray beards are probably more popular because you have to be a certain age to even have a beard, and the characters for whom age is most important are obviously elderly figures like wizards or Santa Claus. Forgot ALL about those. Which is particularly disturbing, seeing as I HAVE all of those. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) Not sure if anyone noticed, but Brickset reports that TLG is asking for these pics to be removed despite the lack of a watermark, so if you haven't already I'd save them for future viewing. Er, nevermind, I guess I'm a bit behind, FBTB says TLG gave them the go-ahead to post the pics. Edited December 6, 2010 by Brickdoctor Quote
MarvelZombie2099 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 (edited) Love 'em! All of 'em! I really love the rocker and want that guitar!! :) The reason the wrestler cannot be classified is that he is the king of all of the figures!! Edited December 6, 2010 by MarvelZombie2099 Quote
JurassicBrick Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Love the musketeer and hazmat guy. Also the elf hairpiece for the werewolf, which will make Star Trek Voyager MOCers happy... Quote

Ceroknight Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 What is the blone girl in the ripped blue dress supposed to be? figure skater Quote
tazosaure Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 So I ran a few "statistics" on these figures and it seems Lego has stepped away from the circus "sub-theme". I too noticed that it seems TLG is done with the circus themed minifig! However I can easily see myself casting the series 4 ice-skater as a trapeze artist :) There are a total of 64 minifigures possible with series 4 included and: Funny to discover someone else categories, mine were slightly different, I had a music category in mind as well but it included the hula girl and the mexican guy, in the wrestlers category I had the mexican wrestler, the karate guy and the sumo (and I m keeping my hopes up for a boxer in series 5 or later with boxing gloves akin to the cheerleader's pom poms), the gorilla was a city or sports (eg the mascott) minifig. The spartan, elf, samurai, ninja, viking, ect I categorized as the "great warriors"... I really like those over-arching themes linking series to one another!!! Quote
prateek Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Have we seen the skates before? Nope. I think if they were available before, they would be in the Winter Village Bakery, but lo and behold, they're not. Quote
Lego_Hero Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Imagine my surprise when checking this *gasp* from work and seeing this thread appear from nowhere to 19 pages within a day (for me anyway). I am stunned by the quality of this series. I thought Series 2 was a bit of a let-down and Series 3 only had a few solid hits, but this series is bulletproof. This will the the first series I actually plan on buying multiples of almost all of the minifigs. In my opinion, here are the least to greatest: Gnome: Outside of the hat, I have no use for this minifig. I'm not a fan of short legs and beards, so it just doesn't offer me much. Viking: I have alot of vikings. The torso and the shield will be nice additions, but... I have alot of vikings. Artist: Great face! Limited use for the rest of him, though. Football Player: The head and hair are great, but not being into soccer, I don't have any use for the torso. Love the silver trophy. I was going to paint one silver, so this is good. Frankenstien: Other than the novelty of having a Frankenstien, I'm not big on this one. Geisha: A white female face would be cool and the torso print is pretty. Sailor: Has anyone noticed the Popeye wink he's sporting?!? All around a good fig. The hat, head, and torso are all solid. I'll get multiples. Can't wait to make a Japanese schoolgirl. Ice Skater: I'm not crazy about the skirt, but the hair is out there! Does it look a little like Tin Tin? Good job on the torso/arm covering. The skates are definitely a plus. Surfer: Nice hair and face, but that torso is awesome. Skateboarder: The printed hat, face, and cool torso make this guy a must. I don't 'board, but his paintjob is nice. Rocker: The hair, the axe, the torso print... I'll pick up one on purpose and not complain if I accidentally get another one later on. Werewolf: I much prefer this version to the original in Studios. He strikes me as the 70's blacksploitation version. Maybe it's the open shirt. Hockey Player: Take away the skates and hockey stick and you have American football! I could see making a custom Dallas Cowboys team out of this minifig. Multiples! Mad Scientist: The hair, the head, the torso, and the flask. Multiples, for sure. HAZMAT guy: Has sci-fi written all over him. I can think of several uses already. I'm really excited about this one! Definitely multiples. Musketeer: Multiples. Clearly one of the top candidates for army builder of the series. There's no negative on this one as far as I can see. This is the toughest series to rank thus far. My top ten are almost interchangeable. If this is the last series, they went out with a bang. If not, it's just testament to TLG's creativity to out-do themselves every time. Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I'm not sure why so many people keep mentioning how the hockey helmet could be used as an American Football helmet and fail to mention the shoulder pads... except for the hockey stick, it IS an American Football player. I agree with you on that one. I'm just trying to figure out what to use as a body and legs :) Quote
Lord Embo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Astounding... possibly the best overall series yet. Color me utterly impressed. And if you ask me... it certainly could be a coincidence, but so many of these seem to have emerged straight from Cop-Mike's idea thread from the summer :) I suggested in a YouTube video the artist, scientist and the footballer(or soccer player in US) and look! They've been included! I find it coincidental that most of these seem like ideas suggested by fans that TLG finally took into consideration. Must get them all! Especially the guitarist, the ice hockey player, the frankenstein, the footballer and the artist. Lord Embo Edited December 7, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote
Delta 38 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 That's the full set now! Gold = Karate guy Silver = Footballer Bronze = Sumo Wrestler What, really? I thought the sumo had another gold one. I don't have any of them, and plus I want all three figures, accessories aside. I definitely want the karate guy who I haven't found, and by the looks of it, won't be appearing. It seems that collectible minifigures often go places that normal sets or themes can't. There are a large array of ordinary people that you should expect to find in cities, such as the painter, but we don't get in actual City sets. We only get generic civilians in most cases, but that can change. We've seen potential to introduce figures like these into normal sets, but so far I don't think many have made it. Even a hazmat guy could make it into sets with some "chemicals and waste" subtheme or something. Space stuff is a bit strange to include in City, so why not introduce hazmat stuff too? Finally, I don't know how hard checking series 3 minifigs is, and exactly how the system works beside bump placement. Assuming it's easy once you've gotten the hang of it though, it might be better to keep this method. Less people will loot boxes and they'll be more opportunities for those who missed out almost entirely like me. Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Not sure if anyone else have noticed from this 20 page long discussion, but it appears most of us are so fantastical with the new minifigures' designs and we just simply forget the feeling of tracking those minifigures that you want like what I have seen in previous series discussion. Looks to me that all of the upcoming minifigures are so well perceived and could eventually persuade fans like us to get a box as it is without much regrets. Of course, I could assume wrongly since we are all still excited about this. Until, we are claim down, perhaps we will be back to the drawing board. Nevertheless, I likes the way this current series is bringing all of the positive vibes together. I got a very good feeling about this and if, TLG keeps it up like before, this will be one of the most successful innovative line that will re-write the history of LEGO inspiration with these ultra unbelievable minifigs. Quote
David Thomsen Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I find it odd that so many people are saying 'hey wow, TLG must be monitoring these pages, they keep using our ideas!' It's like no one really understands statistics... We've suggested hundreds of minifigs in these pages. Some of the suggestions are completely unrealistic, but a lot of them are quite feasible, and every obvious minifig, like a wizard or a beauty queen or a secret agent, has probably already been mentioned. Under the circumstances, it's pretty amazing that they come up with ideas that haven't been mentioned here already. Quote
Jargo Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I hope with the sailor appearing we get a wave five and it includes a Naval captain. I was just toying around with a picture of the captain from classic town, spiffing him up. Looks quite tasty next to the sailor. It wouldn't require much more than some printing on torso, arms and cap to create for real. Not sure what accessories he could have. New cap, nautical chart, sextant, course plotting dividers, binoculars, compass? Obviously this is a very quick impression. but it gives you the idea. :) Edited December 7, 2010 by Brickenhead-town-dweller Quote
jonwil Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Captain could have a new modern style 2 x 2 map tile and a pair of binoculars. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I just noticed something interesting. Winter Toy Shop came out and contained two minifigures with the old, unrealistic, Ice Planet 2000 skis. Less than a year after that, Series 2 came out with the wonderful new skis and ski poles. Now, less than a year after the Winter Village Bakery (with its ice skaters wearing the best current solution), we will get wonderful new ice skates. Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I agree with all of those saying the musketeer should have come with a cape. It would really have made the figure perfect. However, I think MMCB is going to be making a LOT of musketeer capes next year. I'll be tempted to get some myself if I ever manage to get the minifig. Quote
Enpaz Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) Do I spy a chrome rapier there?? I think I need not tell you how awesome that'd be. Any opinions on this? Chrome/not chrome? Overall, series 4 (funny, I was about to type "season 4" ) is lovely! I've been waiting for an electric guitar for such a long time! Actually no, but only because I really didn't expect TLG to make one, so that's a positive thing. And the Frankenstein is great! Nice for those (including me) who missed out on the earlier Studios sets. Plus it looks muuch better now. Who I'm also very happy about (besides the Musketeer and the Punk Rocker) are the man in the safety suit, the French artist ("Comment-allez vous?") and the sailor. The Lego Universe (I think?) hair of the mad professor is also to my likin'. Enpaz Edited December 7, 2010 by Enpaz Quote
R5-N2 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Cool with the sailor, I will do my VILLAGE PEOPLE MOC... Quote
Ravenclaw2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 I don't see what's so good about the musketeer, I don't really like him. My favourites are the surfer girl, the giesha and the footballer. On Brickset, there's pictures of them all on their stands, and you can see that the giesha's hair has printing, and that the figure skater's hair is in a bun(I don't know if anyone's posted it yet, but I've only just found out about it!). Solitary Dark Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 (edited) I am disappointed by a few though. Skateboarder/Surfer. We already have one of each from series 1 and 2. Lets get some unique ones. Plenty of figures that haven't been done yet. Totally agree with you on the skateboarder, although I do like the figure, mainly for the colours and designs of the body, and its a nice face (may be useful for a sig-fig of me actually), but the female surfer colour combination of black and pink is excellent. I think the repetition is fine is long as thereis variation - if we keep getting soccer players just with different colour tops i'd lose interest - I have a five year old girl who wants the surfer lady already, and she's only seen her picture once. Plus she's asked me to build a pink car to go with her! Edited December 7, 2010 by mookage Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Series 3 was poor (space alien thing?) guess Lego realised and came back with a truly super wave No matter the idea u have in mind - all the figs you'll need are there! Quote
Santhor Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Sorry if this has been answered, but when are these due to come out? 2011 Spring maybe? Thanks! -Santhor Quote
