Peppermint_M Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Ok, so I might resume box purchasing with series 4. This is all win. But I could stand one of each... Get my madness under control. Not adding horns to the viking, would have made happy the hundreds of AFOLs that want historically accurate things , but most kids would have been disappointed without horned helmets... Even I would. They could have used any other common accessory in garden gnomes. For example, google images' first page for "garden gnome" has many different accessories, I would have liked a pipe. But smoking is a bad habit and a pipe would be seen by parents groups as promoting bad habits. The syringe came with a nurse, so is acceptable, but a pipe is a bit beyond the pale... Quote
CMP Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Agreed, agreed, agreed. Best series yet. I love every single fig. My favorite is, surprisingly, the viking. I thought it was going to be the muskateer, but the lack of a 'Crusader's poncho is very slightly disappointing. Fedora is wonderful. Anyone else notice recolord elf hair for the werewolf? Quote
Marckeyh Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 This series is amazing, so much better than the previous one. Thanks for posting the picture. Quote
______ Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I adore them! Three musketeers here I come! Really love biohazard guy as well! Quote
Space Odysseyer Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Series 4 is so cool! My favorites are the footballer, the man in safety suit, the viking and the painter. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Oh, man this theme is getting beyond AWESOME.....my favorite in this series 4 is the punk rocker (COOL axe ) but my son loves Frankenstein ! More new hair pieces and more detailed accessories - the potential for different themes Lego go move into is now there - come on 2011 ! Keep on minifig'ing ! Quote
General Magma Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Wow. Just, wow. This is awesome! Great minifigures and accessoires. Could this mean that the summer 2011 pics are nearing, soon? ~ General Magma Quote
Solitary Dark Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Wow. I was disapointed with series 3, but 4 makes up for it. The Female surfer is actually I think my favourite, simply because I have a boy and girl to think of as well as my own collection, and series 3 did nothing for my Daughter. She is going to love the pink and black wetsuit and the new hair-do. I think hazmat guy is going to be the most desirable of the series though - that orange visor is brilliant, and perfect for any number of dio's and themes. Mind you I dont have my Samurai yet, but i'm looking forward to April already. Quote
---Vertea--- Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 LOVE the Hazmat suit and the mad scientist. And finally real ice skates! I see that the werewolf has the elf hair from S3 in brown which is neat, I suppose. The viking could have used a beard in brown,I think. I really like the beaker piece and the gnome has some great parts for those of us who miss out on the fisherman, but if only his hat were made so it sat on the head a LITTLE bit different.... So close to having a link cap, yet so far.... Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) 100 (!) users reading this topic... I hope these come out early, because I'm not going to get a box... I'm getting 2! Edited December 5, 2010 by The Soup Nazi Quote
Broken Bricks Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I love the S4 figs, specially the Musketeer, the Viking, the Painter and the Sailor! But am I the only one disappointed with the scientist? The flask is cool, but the fig itself looks a little too "sci-fi evil scientist" to me. That hairpiece just look odd. And I certainly don't like the weird goggles... I hoping for something more in the vein of Albert Einstein or even Doc Brown from Back to the Future if they wanted to be a little more cartoonish. Overall, great series though! Quote
Etzel Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I didn't know vikings did not wear horned helmets until I read your comments. Since you are both Scandinavian, I figured you two would be right, but I also checked Wikipedia: "There is no evidence that horned helmets were ever worn in battle throughout the Viking Age, or indeed the Migration period." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horned_helmet) The funny thing is that TLG, being a Danish company, should have known better, don't you think? Then again, how else would people easily recognize the figure as a Viking? I guess they just had to go with the stereotype... Well, I'm happy I could teach at least one person the truth about horned helmets (they were created by 19th century romantics). And yes, I too thought LEGO as a Danish company could have put some effort in this. (I don't even like the horned helmet as a fantasy helmet, the horn are too wide IMHO). Not adding horns to the viking, would have made happy the hundreds of AFOLs that want historically accurate things , but most kids would have been disappointed without horned helmets... Even I would. I had hoped for something similar to Brickforge's Viking helmet which are historical correct and still quite stereotypical for Vikings. Quote
Dan Church Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 I count 20 new molds, and that's twice what was in series 3! I love the mad scientist's beaker, the ice skates on both the hockey player and figure skater, and they finally made a good head with glasses!(SIGFIG use!). My number one is probably the hazmat suit, followed by Geisha, Hockey player, and Garden Gnome(I'm glad they're making another minifig with the Fisherman beard) I might have to save up enough to buy a whole box as well. I cannot wait! Quote
blueandwhite Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Series 4 is absolutely perfect. For me series 3 was something of a disappointment so it's nice to see LEGO back on track here. The biggest upside here is that there are no real duds to be found in series 4. I could open any of these figures and be perfectly content. This was something that really bothered me with the earlier series' (particularly series 3). I was about ready to give up on these collector's figures and LEGO goes and does something like this. I guess I'm back in again. Quote
Holodoc Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Absolutely amazing series! Sooo much better than series 3! Wait... okay more money to spend on this. But worth every cent. lol, that's an Argentinian soccer player. I have not ever seen so much ego inside a single LEGO minifig :P May I point out who kicked them out of the WC? Quote
RileyC Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Damn! These are incredible! Lego has really outdone themselves in this series and has to be my favourite series yet! The minifigs are amazing, not one that I wouldnt buy. My favourite piece has to be the guitar because it is just perfect! But my favourite minifig would have to be the painter. I just love is face, brush, paint holder (?) and all the little paint splotches on himself. Definitely buying a whole series, my second while series since the first! Quote
Tanotrooper Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 These look great, and it really seems like they paid attention to the EB suggestions thread. Come to think of it, the musketeer looks quite like I drew it, including the sword: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14780153@N08/4810193682/ which of course makes me a very happy man (and even a new hat!) This series is a lot better than S3, looking forward to seeing them in stores! Quote
muscleman Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Fantastic set!!! I want the gnome, all sports minifigs, the rockstar and the painter   Quote
yumiyoshi Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 That's aaaaaamazing! A geisha, an hockey player, frankenstein! a Gene Kelly's sailor!! I want tons of them.. Who cares about s.3 when you got this one!?! Quote
Flare Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Incredible figures!!! I'm in love with them all! My wallet will hate me this April... Edited December 5, 2010 by Flare Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 *legorgasm* The gnome have SMURF cap! New face for orcs, And I love painter! Viking? I need like 39843247378 of those! Quote
Derek Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 It's official. Lego wants me to be poor. I think this is the most solid series to date. Absolutely NONE of these are "throwaway figures" a la Series 2's Ringmaster. Even the repeat variations of the skater and surfer manage to be awesome! Favorites are the gnome, Hazmat guy, and Artist. Was not expecting this when I logged on! -Derek P.S. What is the blond, Willie Scott looking chick in the top right supposed to be? Either way, she looks nice. Quote
erik530195 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 Awesome, cant beat series 1 though, even if i don't have any . At least itll be better than series 3. Quote
SilentMode Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 What is the blond, Willie Scott looking chick in the top right supposed to be? Oksana Baiul. Quote
