prateek Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I bet its the new fire station Or the Winter Village Bakery? Quote
The Soup Nazi Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Or the Winter Village Bakery? I hope! I might enter this, though I'm still in my sorting stages of lego Quote
Marckeyh Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 This sounds like a great challenge... I might join in, depending on how much free time I have over the next few weeks. Quote
carnybaby Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 I was just curious why designs using the LDD arent allowed. Doesnt this limit the amount of people able to participate based on the size and variety of their lego collection? Quote
SilentMode Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 (edited) I was just curious why designs using the LDD arent allowed. Doesnt this limit the amount of people able to participate based on the size and variety of their lego collection? It might be because it's possible in LDD to use part/colour combinations that don't exist. (in Universe mode) Edited November 17, 2010 by SilentMode Quote
lt.Gonville brickhead Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 great idea for a competition but I am confumbled is their a size limit ??? Quote
Etzel Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 great idea for a competition but I am confumbled is their a size limit ??? Yes, you should build it in similar size to the already existing Winter Village sets. Those have 815 and 687 pieces each which can serve as a guidance. I have one entry coming up which at the moment has about 730 pieces (might add a few more) and that fits fine. I don't see why we would need stricter rules, just use common sense and think before you build. Quote
SilentMode Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 It seems to be tradition that the rules are somewhat confusing! Comments aside: if I were entering I would use 900 pieces as a limit. If I had to use more pieces than that in a piece similar in size to the bakery and shop, I'd consider it way too detailed. Quote
Hinckley Posted November 18, 2010 Author Posted November 18, 2010 What a nice idea for a contest! I'll definitely try to enter. The rule on the size of the entry is a bit vague though. What's the maximum limit of pieces/minifigs we can use? Also, how is the winner determined? Something tells me I know what the prizes are. I think we're trying to stay a bit loose. I wouldn't exceed the number of minifigs in the current sets and don't go over 1000 pieces. Purposely vague, so you can have some fun. Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 Now here's a good question....era ? Yes, is there an era in time that we must stick to, 19th Century, early 20th, 1950's or present day ? I'm thinking out of the box on this one......keeping under my hat until this question can be answered. Keep on walking in that winter wonderland ! Quote

I'm thinking out of the box on this one......keeping under my hat until this question can be answered. Keep on walking in that winter wonderland ! If you think it matches the existing sets, build it! There are no wrong answers in this case, and if there are, people probably won't vote for them. Maybe use that as a guide. Quote

WhiteFang Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 But I need lots off 1 by 1 plates for a chimney design and im sure that would make it go over the limit. Why don't you start building it first and start drafting your building plans. It will be better to base on your sketches to know better whether you are within the limit or not. Quote

Geertos13 Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I'm so exited to see more of all these MOC, people have such a great imagination Quote
NovaStar Posted November 25, 2010 Posted November 25, 2010 There are some absolutely stunning entries so far with a month still to go! Mine's going to be my first proper MOC (that's not very simple houses) and the first that I post. Making my finishing touches this week Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Just a quick question regarding the rules. I will be putting put our tree on the 1st of December and I was wondering If I could post pictures of all of my winter buildings with my entry for this contest underneath my tree. Or should I leave my entry out and just put the rest of my buildings in . Quote
badboytje88 Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 How strict are you on the amount of minifigs in the MOC. I got 7 so far, but I want to add at least 3 more. Also do you consider Lotso to be a minifig? Quote
