I think this is a pass for me, just like Rock Band, Toy Story, and Batman before it. I'm not the hugest fan of Disney, and I've never actually seen PotC. :blush:

I have yet to be disappointed by a LEGO/TT game (well, the DS version of LSW II was crap, but the console version is excellent), so this news has me excited. Guess I better hurry up and finish HP 1-4, huh?

This has the potential to be quite good :classic:

I played the Lego Star Wars original trilogy on XBox 360. It was kind of like 3 games in one. It was pretty fun and cute to play. You get to choose which character to play as, and just kind of run through the map shooting at guys and occasionally holding a button to auto-build things out of brick piles. It did get repetitive toward the end and the game wasn't really difficult, but it was fun enough. I wonder if the other Lego games had different gameplay or if they're all sort of hack-and-slash cuteness.

Also, 1up.com hinted that Lego PoTC might be on the new nintendo 3DS(due spring 2011 for USA)

Disney Interactive Studios and TT Games today announced that they are joining with The LEGO Group to bring Jack Sparrow and other familiar characters to life in virtual LEGO adventures with LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game. The video game is being developed by TT Games, the group behind a portfolio of critically acclaimed, best-selling LEGO video games, and will be published by Disney Interactive Studios for the Wii console, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, PSP (PlayStation Portable) system, Games For Windows – LIVE and the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems. The video games will be released simultaneously with the highly anticipated new film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” in May 2011.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will be based in the world of the globally successful film franchise, incorporating storylines, locations and characters from the first three films (“Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”) as well as the upcoming fourth film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.”

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will re-create the action, adventure and memorable moments of the Pirates of the Caribbean mythology in LEGO form, incorporating the humor of LEGO minifigures and fantastic worlds built from LEGO bricks and elements for players to explore. Players can take on the roles of more than 70 characters and experience the pirate adventure, irreverent humor and amazing creatures of the Pirates of the Caribbean films, through action-adventure gameplay and hilariously quirky LEGO cut scenes. Throughout the game, players will also have the freedom to explore environments from the highly acclaimed movie series in more than 20 levels. The game features two-player cooperative mode, in which players each control a character to experience the story together, and freeplay mode, which lets players return to levels to discover new items.

“Pirates of the Caribbean is a globally successful franchise based in action, adventure and humor perfectly suited for a LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game adaptation,” said Graham Hopper, executive vice president and general manager, Disney Interactive Studios. “Combining the excitement of playing as Jack Sparrow and other recognizable characters from the franchise will make the game fun for players of all ages throughout the world.”

To date, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have generated more than $2.5 billion at the global box office while the multiple Pirates of the Caribbean video games have sold more than 6 million units globally.

In a companion release today, Disney Consumer Products and The LEGO Group announced an upcoming collection of LEGO brand Pirates of the Caribbean construction sets that will launch in conjunction with the video game and film release in Spring 2011

as of my opinoin, i think it should be as great as the other Lego games. But i have one question, how and why is the release date so close to LSW III?

They are, actually, although each one has its own unique flavor to it.

Because it's tied to the movie release, and LSW3 was originally supposed to be released this year, but it got delayed for some reason.

Not seen the movies, but I do like TTgames, not sure what to make of TTgames going to the darkside working for devil I mean disney.

See the movies. They're almost enough to forgive Disney all it's corporate evil, teen television programs, and straight to DVD sequels :tongue:

Ok, no. Nothing is enough for that. But watch them and don't think about disney, and they're easily topping the list for best adventure movies of last decade.

From what I saw of the teaser trailer, it looks to be quite good. Matched up to the movie nicely, but with the fun goofy style of the other similarly styled Lego games (thinking of Indiana Jones, Star Wars...) Looks like it'll be fun! :sweet:

Agreed, I think I'll really love this game, just like the others (though I recently sold LEGO Indiana Jones :blush::grin: )

Awww so this gets freebie, but CW gets nothing, what a rip off.

I got an R2-D2 pen as a pre-order bonus. :tongue:

But that was just from a random UK website. It is a shame they never did anything special for the game, I was really expecting a collectors edition, after they did one for Harry Potter.

Get a free wooden Jack Sparrow minifig with a preorder of the game from Gamestop

Amazon is offering a minifigure too. Does anyone know if it is the same as this one? They are also offering a $10 Amazon credit with the pre-order.

Very advanced. Very beautiful graphics, and I like that most of the characters have a unique ability or similar. Apparently Jack needs to find items with his compass. I don't know why, though. Guess I'll have to play a bit more. :grin:
