Lego Holiday Train Question

okay, this is gonna sound strange, but i'm wondering if anyone out there remebers the OLD Lego Holiday Train...

years ago there was another one back in the early 1990's if i had to guess a year i'd say around 94-96 ish...

anyone else remember that one or have any idea where i can obtain it?

Yeah I remember that one. I found it on ebay and Bricklink but they may not be there anymore.

The other thing is that it will get expensive with bidding on ebay for it.

There's a few on bricklink. You mentioned in another thread you wanted to motorise the Toy Story train using this one. Be aware this set doesn't include a motor or track.

I've now collected all the 9v trains (9v came around in 1991 from memory) and apart from the holiday train of 2006, I don't recall another one, unless someone can tell me otherwise?

yeah, unfortunately the OLD one seems to be obsolete, but i'm thinking i might still have a shot at getting the NEW one...

i've seen on Bricklink people actually selling the entire Holiday Train Collection, which of course sells for more than just the train itself, but i'd like to have the stuff to go with it, so it'd be better and cheaper to buy it all at once..

then i can just switch the motorized system from one train to another as i feel like it... seems logical... i mean after all, that wouldn't be too hard a task.

with Legos anything is possible... ooh, i think i just discovered my new forum sig!!

The only Holiday Train I know of is the 2006 one. The Classic Train looks like it could be easily modded, but I have no clue what old one you mean.

I'm intrigued as well. As others have said I'm pretty sure there was never an older train than 10173 which was officially called a holiday train. That suggests to me smittyfan remembers something else and associates it with a holiday train.

I suggest smittyfan goes to bricklink and does a search on train sets by year and looks at the pictures. For the suggested time period the bricklink catalog will be complete. If it's not there perhaps you are mistaking someones Moc for an officail set, there have been a few that have included presentation mirroring official sets, but I can't recall seeing one from that long ago offhand.

Hope some of these suggestions help in your search.

For whatever reason the mention of the holiday train brought this to mind. Might be what you're looking for. I know it went great with the Christmas tree when I was a kid.
