Posted November 22, 201014 yr I have missed the original Lego Batman series a few years ago. As a big Batman nut I can't figure out how I missed it, but I did. Now having a son (9 months old) I can't wait to introduce him to Lego and Batman. I've been looking up these sets on ebay but they are really expensive, too expensive to buy and let my son play with 'em when he's the right age. (I bought a few a minifigures though Batman, Joker, Robin, Catwoman, Penguin, Two Face, Harley) Is Lego planning on ever bringing us more newer Batman Lego sets, or have they abbandoned it completely? As I am also new, i don't know if this would be closed or not or whatever. i am sure that since there will probably be no more batman movies or at least any time soon, I do not think they'll be making more sets. I also got only 2 sets of the many, bat cave and cat woman chase(?) so i didn't really experience it much. if you can find cheaper, smaller ones on eBay if you can, i think your son would like that very much, especially if he DOES like Lego and he DOES like bat-man. if he doesn't i think Lego bat-man would be an introducer to both...or one...and i know younger kids like superheroes and everyone likes Legos so you can't go wrong!

Very unlikely it will be brought back. Honestly, I wouldn't go too deeply into Batman. It's extremely expensive. Don't blame yourself for missing it. They went very, very quickly.
November 22, 201014 yr The Dark Knight Rises is supposed to be released in 2012 i think, so we could see new sets then. As of right now there are no super hero LEGO sets planned, but Disney owns Marvel now and LEGO has a license with Disney so it's possible.
November 22, 201014 yr i would'nt get my hopes up too soon, I honestly dont see it coming back in the NEARfuture, but thats just my opinion. I'd try and ween myself onto a cheaper theme, or if not, been really vigilant on ebay.... As of right now there are no super hero LEGO sets planned, but Disney owns Marvel now and LEGO has a license with Disney so it's possible. ermmmm.... im not an expert in the superhero department, but isnt batman a dc comic???
November 22, 201014 yr Author Yeah DC ownes Batman. Kinda strange though since the Batman sets sold so very good and there still a huge demand for them.

I thought Superman was DC and Batman Marvel. OK then Batman is very dead then.
November 22, 201014 yr As of right now there are no super hero LEGO sets planned, but Disney owns Marvel now and LEGO has a license with Disney so it's possible. Lego doesn't have a license with Marvel, and Mega Bloks currently holds that license anyways. Just because Disney owns it doesn't mean squat. -Omi
November 22, 201014 yr I thought Superman was DC and Batman Marvel. Really? Then how would you have explained them being such close friends?
November 22, 201014 yr Author I thought Superman was DC and Batman Marvel. OK then Batman is very dead then. Batman isn't dead, he was shot through time by Darkseids Omega beam. Just kidding, taht is actually the current story line, but I now what you mean.
November 22, 201014 yr Fisher Price owns the rights to make building sets and figurines based on Batman and DC characters. They are selling quite a lot under the Trio banner.

Therefore if Disney really wanted to they could let LEGO make superhero sets. MegaBlok also held the Toy Story and Car licenses, things change.
November 23, 201014 yr I heard Batman was dropped because The Dark Knight was to violent or something like that.
November 23, 201014 yr Marvel is owned by Disney! Therefore if Disney really wanted to they could let LEGO make superhero sets. MegaBlok also held the Toy Story and Car licenses, things change. And Warner Bros owns DC Comics, but Lego didn't have a license with Warner Bros to make the Batman line. They had the license with DC Comics because they own the rights for the characters. Marvel works that way as well. Lego would would have to strike a deal with Marvel (or Marvel Studios for a movie line), not Disney. Mega Bloks currently has the Marvel license, and they held it for a long time (or renewed alot) if you look at their history of products. Mega Bloks only had Cars because at the time they had a license with Disney, which at that time Lego had Nickalodeon. MB doesn't hold Disney anymore. -Omi
November 23, 201014 yr It would be great to see new Batman sets, so MegaBlocks have the license right now? Too bad! Btw, why LEGO can't produce new quantities of their old Batman sets? They would sell very well I think.
November 23, 201014 yr Fisher Price owns the rights to make building sets and figurines based on Batman and DC characters. They are selling quite a lot under the Trio banner. I might be in the minority here, but I don't see why there isn't a decent following of Trio Batman among older audiences. I mean, if you look past the chunky building blocks, they're a pretty neat incarnation of the Batman characters. It would be great to see new Batman sets, so MegaBlocks have the license right now? Too bad! Btw, why LEGO can't produce new quantities of their old Batman sets? They would sell very well I think. This'd be a great idea. They've brought back good sellers like Enchanted Island from Pirates, why not revive an old line? I'd really love to see some new Batman sets, even if I had to resort to Megablocks But meanwhile, I've managed to get decent deals on the Batman, Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Harley, Scarecrow, and Joker minifigs on eBay ($22 being the highest for a "used" Joker with the wrong crotch color, and Mr. Freeze and Scarecrow being keychains). Overall though, every listing for these minifigs and sets tend to have unbelievable prices.
November 23, 201014 yr Btw, why LEGO can't produce new quantities of their old Batman sets? They would sell very well I think. License would have to be renewed with DC in order for that to happen. -Omi
November 23, 201014 yr It's very UnlikelyBatman is ever going to be reborn into LEGO. The films are over untill 2012, the Comics lose popopularity and I've heard DC Comics is implied in a "financial problem" I don't know if this is true and/or/ how bad these problems are, but It's as I said above, very Unlikely
November 24, 201014 yr I doubt it, Batman isn't really for kids right now. I wonder how well the sets sold, that would be a big indicator right there.
November 24, 201014 yr I doubt it, Batman isn't really for kids right now. I wonder how well the sets sold, that would be a big indicator right there. Actually, if you look at the franchise with respect to toy lines, Batman pretty much is for kids right now. The action figure department is dominated by the chunky Imaginext and Brave & the Bold figures, while the building sets department is dominated by TRIO, which is also aimed at younger children. As far as I can tell, all of these lines are selling fairly well. While the Batman media out right now (comics, animated movies, etc) isn't really for younger audiences, Batman is a widely-enough known franchise for any company-including Lego-to make it kid-oriented if they really wanted to, as shown by the toy lines above.
January 21, 201114 yr I doubt it, Batman isn't really for kids right now. I wonder how well the sets sold, that would be a big indicator right there. LEGO Batman sets became available mid 2008 in conjunction with the new Batman movie at that time. They only began to sell well after the video game came out. A lot more kids became interested in those sets and older sets once they saw the characters in the game. The last LEGO Batman sets sold out in January 2009, since then there has been a lot of interest in the series (as evidenced by forums like this and the high cost of these sets on Ebay) and I would not be suprised in seeing them come back in the near future. I dont see the fact that another company has the license being a factor. LEGO produces spongebob sets and Megabloks makes Nickelodeon sets. Trio may have DC but licenses expire and are picked up by diff companies all the time (e.g. Thomas the Train going to Megabloks after LEGO had it) so I dont see it as a deterrent. Also dont forget that Disney's pick up of Marvel was strategic, their main theme park competitor in Orlando is Universal Studios Theme Park which had a lot of marvel themed rides. Dont rule it out is what I am saying. Edited January 21, 201114 yr by DanTheLegoMan
January 21, 201114 yr I was a fan of batman, but I only got a couple of the sets. I would love to see some more, as they are a great source of new pieces. Although I doubt that they'll make more sets, I think (tell me if I'm wrong) that there's a new film coming out this year, with Kristen Bell as Harley Quinn, Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, and David Tennant as the Riddler. So I think it is possible they'll make more.
January 21, 201114 yr You're sort of wrong :P we've had anne hathaway confirmed as catwoman, and tom sellick as bane. The other two were rumours that (sadly, in the case of Tennant) never materialised.
January 21, 201114 yr wow. did you just pick that last name out of the air? Bane will definitely not be played by Tom Sellick. Tom Hardy (the guy that played opposite Leo DeCaprio in Inception) thats going to be Bane. The theory is that the video game was really the end of this series of Lego. It would be nice if Lego Batman came back but I highly doubt it for some reason but I can see it making a reemergence again next year when "The Dark Knight Rises" somes out in theaters.

It would be fantastic if Tennant became the Riddler but I think its not going to happen, though he was one of the candidates along with Depp. Return of Lego Batman? hmm I do see it happening if they make another video game like "Lego Batman Returns" but Lego Batman is one of least favorite video games I played I guess we will see when the new Batman movie is released
