Posted November 24, 201014 yr Here is a picture of my wip for HMS Britannia. I plan on adding 2 more decks to it and making custom sails and rigging. Check out the rest of the pictures on here because this version got scrapped. Edited September 19, 201113 yr by mobricki
November 24, 201014 yr try to make the two extra decks your planning with a tumblehome technique, that would realy inprove the way your ship looks, for now it is to low for its lenght. good luck with the build claus
November 24, 201014 yr I Love it so many soldiers but still try add more decks. Edited January 1, 201114 yr by lt.Gonville brickhead
November 25, 201014 yr Author Thanks for the advice I'm going to make the second and third decks wider too and give it a rounded off look on the sides. Edited November 25, 201014 yr by mobricki
November 26, 201014 yr A nice vessel you've got there already. Adding a few more decks would do her good indeed. It's nice to see you are trying to implement a tumblehome technique, I'm looking forward to that. Let me know if you need any advice. Good luck with the build!
November 26, 201014 yr Nice, how many meters is it long? I'm looking forward to see the development of the ship.
November 26, 201014 yr This looks great! I cant wait to see it finished. You have a nice collection of sailors and pirates to. Captain Crossbricks
November 26, 201014 yr You've asked for my opinion, but I'll wait until you have added decks and special techniques. Right now it looks like a flagship with 4 masts and 2 cabins to me. You should be able to find good reference material in here and some other sites, I also strongly suggest you start reading books about ships. I wish you all the best on the build!
November 26, 201014 yr I`d say at you should take the top cabin away and add the second deck, i also think at you should only do 3 mast because 4 looks kinda weird Also i recommen (As CGH did) you to watch some pics about that time ship-of-the-line ship masts and sails and read some books to make it look more realistic. I wish you luck fellow Redcoat friend Captain Becker
December 1, 201014 yr that looks awesome, nice man! love the army of soldiers in the back of the ship
December 1, 201014 yr Author that looks awesome, nice man! love the army of soldiers in the back of the ship Thanks I plan on adding more to the next version. Also thanks to everybody else for the advice. I will be posting some prototype pics of different parts of the ship here in a couple weeks once I get the rest of my parts in. I'm currently working on the captain's cabin and the officer's quarters.
December 19, 201014 yr Cool. Based on the Imperial Flagship it looks like. Could you post some pictures of the inside?
December 31, 201014 yr Author Still waiting on all my newest bricklink orders but here is an update on the new Britannia. Please let me know what you think I will be putting up more pics in about a month once the first gun deck gets done. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/167818_1768172732363_1480532305_31844598_5887681_n.jpg Edited June 21, 201113 yr by mobricki
December 31, 201014 yr So that's where all the cannons on BL went!! *shakes fist* Only kidding :) looking great! I especially like your plans for the crows nests on the masts... that's a big shortcoming of the Imperial Flagship set in my opinion. Edited December 31, 201014 yr by moc2
December 31, 201014 yr Only one word, (Or actually two): Youre mad! This is turning into a serios ship man, those small pumps you made are very well desinged, lanters and those bookself and captains desk are very good looking, good looking crew and cannons. Im looking forward for this project, i wonder if the whole bricklink is soon empty Good luck Captain Becker

Im looking forward for this project, i wonder if the whole bricklink is soon empty Good luck Captain Becker I'm currently waiting on 9 bl orders consisting of a total of 4588 pieces all to be used on this moc. Oh and my apoligies to anybody else that wanted to buy cannons on bl because I think I did buy up quite a few of them as well as these My link I bought 700 of these for the masts and inner support beams. I think only a couple hundred are left on bricklink. I'll probably be buying out all of the brown 6x16 plates as well.
December 31, 201014 yr I'm currently waiting on 9 bl orders consisting of a total of 4588 pieces all to be used on this moc. What are you going to be doing with these bricks? Turning this vessel into one with a brick-built hull?!? Oh and my apoligies to anybody else that wanted to buy cannons on bl because I think I did buy up quite a few of them as well as these My link I bought 700 of these for the masts and inner support beams. I think only a couple hundred are left on bricklink. I'll probably be buying out all of the brown 6x16 plates as well. I do not believe you need to apologize for buying out BL. I had bought out many of the browns wheels and black barrels for Constitution's cannons.
December 31, 201014 yr Author What are you going to be doing with these bricks? Turning this vessel into one with a brick-built hull?!? Yes, the hull is bigger and brick built now. Phred I'm going to borrow your design for the steering wheels that you are using on the Constitution if you don't mind. I'm going to link them to the rudder so it actually moves too. January 1, 201114 yr This is quite large, do you really think 2 more decks are needed? It looks rather proportional right now. I am all for you doing it, I have a feeling your vision surpasses my current imagination. Do keep us informed.
April 19, 201113 yr Author Here is a preview pic of the Britannia. More pictures will be coming tommorrow. This picture was actually of me making a 7ft high tower because I was bored but the Britannia got caught in the foreground. preview pics The pictures coming tommorrow will be a lot better quality than these. That Union Jack you see is going to be tiled on the floor of the captain's cabin. Edited April 20, 201113 yr by mobricki
April 20, 201113 yr Author Here is the latest update on the Britannia. The ship is being built in six different sections now instead of each deck by itself. Here are the pictures I promised yesterday. Edited June 21, 201113 yr by mobricki
April 20, 201113 yr Here is the latest update on the Britannia. The ship is being built in six different sections now instead of each deck by itself. Here are the pictures I promised yesterday. new pics For a waterline modell she looks promising, otherwhise the hull needs work on the round shape, which is quite challenging. I guess the VOC Prins Willim’ by Captain Green Hair is a good exsample what you might have to do. I really like the design of the ship bell and your swivel guns! Nice work there. The Union Jack is really nice. But normally British ships have the black and white checkers muster in the cabins. Keep brigging, she looks much better than the old one, even if she is far from finished!
June 12, 201113 yr Author Here is a link to my latest progress with the Britannia. I changed the bow again. Please tell me what you think compared to my last update. I also have a final list that's almost complete of all of the ships crew and how many minifigs it will have when its completed. Edited June 21, 201113 yr by mobricki
June 12, 201113 yr I feel really terrible to say this, as I feel that you're on a great track there. Buuuut... well... if you would be trying to stick to historical and technical details, then I would have spotted a problem, I believe, a rather big one. You see, it would not be possible for a ship-of-the-line, especially not with three decks and 50 shots per broadside to have a parallel gunport-setting like your Britannia has. The kinetic energy of the recoil would be absorbed by the vessel's frame. If built in a good way, the ship might withstand the actual broadside. But in any case, the caulking would rupture and the ship would become seaunworthy due to all the incoming water. But it would be even more propable that the frame would simply break. That is why ships of that size have to have a chequered gunport-setting, as vissible on the HMS Victory. The recoil can be absorbed by the planking as well and that would make the ship much more stable... Now - this is only a point of concern if you are keen on technical details. It's still a great WIP and it looks great. So if this does not bother you, just ignore my posting

I am aware of this fact but because of how the ship is designed it wouldn't be feasible to build it that way. ok so here is the crew list.
