the helmets are full out Nazi style.... the chest design on Johann is Nazi style if you look at his collar markers...

Not in protest about it, but jeeeeeze :hmpf_bad:

They're called German soldiers, but yes, they are. It'd kind of suck to have an entirely 1-sided WWII vig.

Is it just me or are these entirely custom based and not Lego?

Yeah that's what I thought.

Quit nitpicking BA just because that is what they chose to make.

Personally, I do not see these as offensive in any way. I mean that since WWII happened, and many factions took part in it, it is just normal that they get remmebered and represented in some way or form. BrickArms already produced WWII figures for USA and UK, it's a matter of par condicio that they now offer German ones.

And remember: the short term Nazi indicates those who belived to the Nationalsozialismus (National Socialism) ideology (which seems to be your main concern). It has nothing to do with the German Army itself.

As for the insegna on Johann's uniform, that's only historical accuracy.

I hope you see the point in this: BA produced historically accurate figures in LEGO format just like many companies produce them in various scales for collection purposes only. No need to take offence where none intended.

P.S.: I changed the topic title as it included wrong spelling and capitalsation; please always check spelling and capitalisation when posting. Thank you :classic:

It was not me taking offense being that I am from German blood my self... Just was shocked about a SS minifig

I am a non violence toy theme person my self... I liked that back in my childhood, My mom would not let me have guns as play toys because she believed that they should be respected as tools of the kill... Yes my house had real guns and thats the point. I grew up respecting fire arms as what they needed to be understood as.

Then again with a 20$ price tag on these minifigs they are intended for adults any ways, so I see that point.

But then again does John need to look like SS other then the shade of his coat?

If they looked more like a "German officer" then I would have no point to make... but in the end of the day Johann still looks like a no sense Nazi to me....

I really dont care if they sell them... I was just asking a question when I posted this thread.

On the down low though, I wish we had some minifig companies like that one that made city and real life representations of actors and other famous people.... They have the scale down great and all other dont stack up... On the other hand, they make nasty looking accessories though.... but every company has one flaw, right?

First models of German Stahlhelm (= steel helmet) were used during WWI, a time when the Nazim ideology itself didn't even existed yet...

See : My link . Some variants are still used today in some armies !

About the collar markers, please do not confuse the "lightning stylized double S" from the Waffen SS with the standard insignia from the Wehrmacht, which is pictured on the Johann minifig torso... More infos here : My link

I agree with you that some customizers push the realism too far. I've been ashamed to see full SS minifigs for sale on ebay lately... But don't be too fast in assimilations...

I see nothing wrong with this. The German army was not entirely composed of Nazis, nor were all the SS in charge of concentration camps. These are just historically accurate figures catered to adults.

Does anyone remember a few months back when some silly reporters went "OMG! That minifg looks like a terrorist!" then a Muslim leader said "That's disgusting" and then no one gave a crap? Take note.

that is not constructive :hmpf_bad:

Do you mean those custom figs are implied to be nazi even though they don't have any swastika? What's this come to? LEGO Indiana Jones?

I remember that article. The people who made a deal about it were the ones who weren't knowledgeable of the BrickArms product (and that's usualy the case with most people), considering the first thing they blamed was Lego, with Lego instantly saying "we had nothing to do with it". :P

Well judging from some other posts I've seen, You're rather against War I believe? Seen as you protested against a military sub-forum being oepned, But realistically exon. Do you think because theres a german troop sold in Lego, all little children will put on Hitler Youth armbands and start shouting "Sieg Heil"? The Indiana Jones germans wear the Lego Kepi to look like the M43 Ski Cap, Are you saying Kids should not enjoy playing with those Lego sets?

The figures contain no SS collar tabs, No totenkopfs or Nazi helmet decals, no breast eagles with a Nazi logo or armbands e.t.c.
