The Dalek factory and Cyberconversion sets look very messy and clumsy. The Weeping angel cave is very megabloks cruddy. I hate the figures. They don't fit with the bricks blockiness. Terribly mis-matched.

The console room and progenitor chamber are ok. Is the console room mustard yellow or a regular yellow? Hard to tell.

Bound to be overpriced. Character Options products don't come cheap.

Egad, I never knew there was a British version of Megablocks.

Anyway, as a kid in New England I watched Dr Who on PBS. In Wisconsin I watch it on PBS. My Friends in New England now watch different seasons on Cable. I Think that Germany would get into Dr Who if it was brought there the right way. (Daleks speak German after all) However one big problem that Lego/bbc might run into is that we're watching different seasons. I'm on season 4, my friends are on season 5 or 6 and the Brits are on season 6 or 7.

Not only would the BBC have to cancel it's agreement with Character Options, but they would have to unify what season we're watching to maximize the effort.

Of course, it could just be considered Lego's new Action theme.

Dr Who is some sci fi series?? hahaha

might as well do Stargate or Startrek then, where everyone knows them!!!!

Well, that was a nice helpful post wasn't it.

For anyone interested, I have reviewed the TARDIS set here, also once I have all the figures I will be reviewing them.

Do we really need a Dr.Who Lego franchise?

I am a Brit and not a fan of Dr Who (although probably because I don't actually watch television) but from what I have seen of recent Dr Who series having watched them at friends houses, the theme is probably very MOCable. I'd love to see a well-crafted MOC Dalek or Tardis- indeed the joy that many people get from that series is the way the BBC effectively made the props 'Blue Peter' fashion out of cardboard and sticky-back plastic. The original Dalek featured a toilet plunger! Be great to see similar ingenuity from young Lego fans improvising with whatever they have rather than getting everything out of one box- guess thats my biggest hangup about franchise sets.

I don't think TLG needs to cover every base in terms of franchising all popular genres- Dr Who is indeed very popular in some countries and, as others have pointed out, unheard of in others, unlike Star Wars and PotC. I doubt it would sell well outside of the Anglophile world and perhaps The Netherlands where it is also very popular- I was once in a World of Warcraft guild founded by a Dutch woman called Heart of Tardis. That is, the guild was called Heart of Tardis and not the Dutch woman. Just thought I'd clear that up.

It'll never happen. Just like how we won't get American Football Lego, we won't get Doctor Who Lego. It's nowhere near global enough for even profit making sales (in the way TLG sees it). Character have the license for Doctor Who toys and will not give that up as long as it makes money. The sets and figures they sell are great quality and 100% compatible (though some figure parts won't match up) so be happy there is any form of Doctor Who building toy!
