StoutFiles Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 The director of The Empire Strikes Back, arguably the greatest Star Wars movie, has passed away today. Kershner took the series to a new high with a perfect mixture of emotion and art that hasn't been seen in any Star Wars film since. I look back and wonder how great the PT could have been had Kershner not turned down the offer to direct The Phantom Menace. Thank you for one of the greatest films of all time! You will be missed! Brickdoctor Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Megabloks. Thank, you, Irvin Kershner for the greatest film ever, even if the box office totals disagree with me. But where were you when Jar-Jar was conceived?!?! Quote
General Magma Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Darn. ESB was the best Star Wars movie (also the best movie in general), so thanks goes to him for his great work. May the Force be with you, always... ~ General Magma Quote
Praiter Yed Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Ingrid Pitt, Leslie Neilsen and now this! I just read a nice tribute here. IMO ESB is easily the best SW film, I haven't watched the rest half as much as I should because when I feel like watching Star Wars, I watch Empire. And that ending, gets me every-time. Sad news. Big Cam Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 This truely is a sad day for OT SW fans. At least a part of him can live on in his films. Quote
The Legonater Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 This truely is a sad day for OT SW fans. At least a part of him can live on in his films. Agreed. Although I consider myself a neutral in PT/OT/CW, ESB was still the best of the movies, IMO. Everythings about it was so incredible. RIP, Irvin. Quote
RileyC Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 First Leslie Nielsen now him? He made one of the best films ever. His work will never go unnoticed. I thank you and you will be missed. Quote

XimenaPaulina Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 So you don't think CW is better than OT? I never said CW is better. I maybe a CW fan, but I'm a general SW fan so I like all of 'em - OT/PT/CW (well, maybe not EU stuff). (Sorry for the off-topic). Quote
Darth Yogi Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 This is very sad news. Thanks for such a great movie, probably the best movie ever, and may you rest in peace. Quote

The Eye Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Rest in peace, Irvin Kershner. I respectfully disagree with comments about how it's a sad day for just OT fans- it's truly a sad day for Star Wars fans and fans of any of his other movies. His magnificent work helped shape blockbusters for years ahead. My condolences to his family. Quote
