Uh, what stickers? I don't remember seeing any bandage stickers, and I can't remember if the ones on those larger creatures were transparent...

They didn't look like bandages but there where stickers on some of the creatures with that eye design.

Ah, I see. Well, not really.

I'm almost certain that the eyes are part of larger stickers rather than being separate. Still, I guess you could modify them. They do look transparent, though, now that I think about it.

Before the new Lego teaser site was taken down it made reference to professor Archibald Hale. So Jack Raines and Archibald Hale. Sounds like they could team up with Johnny Thunder to me. Despite the apparent anachronism* of an Anubis headed Sphinx, I am really looking forward to adding these to my Adventures sets.

*An anachronism—from the Greek ανά (ana: up, against, back, re-) and χρόνος (chronos: time)—is an accidental or deliberate inconsistency in some chronological arrangement, especially a chronological misplacing of persons, events, objects, or customs in regard to each other. The item is often an object, but may be a verbal expression, a technology, a philosophical idea, a musical style, a material, a custom, or anything else so closely associated with a particular period in time that it would be incorrect to place it outside its proper domain. A representation of something as existing or occurring at other than its proper time in history.

I'd forgotten about Hale. Yet another weather-related name. The chance that this is a coincidence is becoming less likely.

Real cute of LEGO to do that. One wonders if it's just a little shout-out to fans of the original Adventurers, or whether LEGO actually intends to establish any story-based ties between Adventurers and this theme. Doubtful, since the totally different nature of the "Egypt" in this theme implies a different continuity, so it seems more likely to me that this is more of a "re-imagining" the same way Mars Mission was a bit of a re-imagining of Life on Mars (similar-looking aliens, transport tubes, etc).

Thankfully, of course, this theme feels more compelling than Mars Mission did, even though there is still a little ambiguity over whether the good guys are being particularly ethical.

I doubt they will connect a 2011 theme to a 1997 theme. I think we probably will have little jokes like they added in Space Police 2009-2010.

That'd be cool but the only things I can really think of is to maybe having redone hieroglyphics like the "Death to archeologists" one.

I'm imagining (rather mean to those original Adventurers collectors) a floppy skeleton, classic skellie face - and a folded old brown fedora. :oh:

I was about to suggest the same thing (given the AquaRaiders cameo in Atlantis). Even though that's a terribly distasteful idea when applied to such an outstanding character as good ol' Johnny.

Not that old brown in a set today is even a possibility.

How about an undead mummified johnny thunder? The instructions could have you place him in a sarcophagus. That would be awesome.

What? Why would Johnny be mummified?

Heh I don't know. I saw "RIP Johnny Thunder" somewhere in this thread and I got an idea. It's almost Halloween, after all!

Well it turns out Johnny was egyptian and not an aussie so he wanted to be like the pharaohs when he died so he got mummified?.....

There has been a website update!

And this was a generous one: we learn more about Jack Raines, one of the new vehicles is featured, and Dr hale gives us a translation of the story of the (bad) Pharaoh Amset-Ra.

I love this theme :cry_happy:

I lol'ed.

Also, really cute how Jack Raines's adventures kind of parallel Johnny Thunder's.

The old Adventurers line had an obvious "Indiana Jones" feel to it, while Pharaoh's Quest is waaay different. I don't think it's a remake of the classic theme, it rather seems to be inspired by Tomb Raider games: lots of action, soldiers, guns, mythical creatures, undead mummies, living Anubis statues... All those things can be found in Tomb Raider IV The Last Revelation. Even the giant cobra looks exactly like the one Lara fights in TR4.

so are we going to be getting two sided heads with one side in an "omg!" face like the last frame of that comic?

I hope not. Or a least I hope they won't use the mouth design we can see in the pics. Although double expressions can be fun, I hate the facts that it prevents your minifig from wearing a cap or a hat, unless you want it to look like it has lord voldemort on the back of its head...

I was happy with my single face Johnny and friends.

At least we can suppose that Dr Hale doesn't have a double sided head, because of his hat.

So, according to the new site, it's not Jack Raines, but Jake Raines. Relatively minor info, but it is a bit of a bummer for Eurobricks member JackRaines.

I really like what I've seen so far from the preview site. I hope we'll get introduced to other characters soon.
