Nikola Bathory Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 You know what I noticed? Every brickbuild creature in this theme is a living statute! Even the Scarab- it have heroglyphs and he is made of bricks! I adore this detail! What did you expect? An one-piece scarab or Anubis? This is LEGO after all. I like all sets except the living Anubis statue, it looks horrible, not menacing or cool at all. Quote
Aanchir Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 Hey, I didn't notice that. That's pretty cool. I did not expect the sphinx's underside thingy to be removable. I probably haven't taken a good look at it. The thing I don't like most about it is the legs and transforming ability, I'd say. It's too bad, because it includes a fairly nice vehicle. Yay, 500th post. Edit: I'm also a knight now, it seems. That's nice. I like the front legs-- it's the back legs that bug me. They're just the front legs copied over a second time, which doesn't really work. In my opinion it should have more muscular haunches. An additional problem that's both with the back legs and the base is that unsightly gap between the two. If the base were extended backwards, perhaps the back legs and butt wouldn't be so bothersome (at least when he's resting and not rising up from his pedestal). As it is, however, the point where his legs are joined to his body seems flimsy and insubstantial. I wonder if Nabii would be interested in revamping the set into one with a level of complex building only an AFOL MOC can offer (as was the case with his Crystal King variant seen here. The fact that the legs are cloned strikes me as an obvious consequence of the set being made simpler for the target age range, and I'm sure that earlier prototypes might have had more complexity and a more appealing physique. Sirens-of-Titan Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 2011 is going to kill my funds! Is it just me or is the pyramid not as huge as is initially looked; The majority of it is the base which gives the appearance of a large structure but the actual "pyramid part" is only about 16 - 17 blocks high, sloping upwards, and counting the side panels, it looks like the piece count won't be all that high on it. The adventurers are great, but I wish they included a more-diverse crowd; we only get the Jake character a girl, motor cyclist and professor. (I'm not gonna complain about uneven distribution i could always Bricklink the characters but it seems unfair to kids) The vehicles are great, but why did they all have to be a in that deep red?The old adventures line had a lot more diversity in the vehicles and they looked ab it more "deserty" The plane is really well designed and the pilot from series 3 mini figures will fit it like a glove! The mummies look phenomenal, I had a feeling that those faces were double sided and I'm happy they indeed are! The thing that's got me most excited is the possibilities of this line! They will make a killing with these; after all most people love Egyptian stuff, so kids and adults alike will buy these like there's no tomorrow; meaning the line will most likley be continued for a few extra waves, bringing in more characters, mummies, vehicles, and possibly even expanded to other locations: Imagine; "Olympus's Quest" Jake the professor and the crew go the Greece and are faced with mythological creatures! TRU is really squeezing the money out of us. I am glad the Lego prices are much cheaper, but I also wish the pyramid was $10 or $20 cheaper than $100. Quote

Algernon Posted November 17, 2010 Posted November 17, 2010 That set is just spectacular. A must-buy for me. Even if the idea of flying mummies is a little unorthodox. Quote
