Peppermint_M Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 I suppose the versus creatures things follows the trend that started a while back (not sure entirely where, but there was a point where all combat was changed to mythic) Baron, Sam and Alexis belong in the past, when minifig was allowed to compete with minifig. I should pick up a selection of the figures and sets to go with my collection and the new ones. Quote
mikey Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 This sounds like an excellent theme, everything I read about this makes me think it will be the best sets for me for next year. Whilst a return of the Adventurers would be most welcome from me, I am more than happy to get something close. It is easy to make your own baddies, but harder to make MiniFig Monsters! So if it turns out this is MiniFig vs. Monster then we might be treated to some insane creatures (Atlantis + SPIII delivered the goods). The colour scheme is exactly the types that I crave, and the Set Names do sound very intriguing. Looking forward to those first grainy pictures! Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Sorry guys, I somehow overlooked that this was the Egypt discussion - this theme sounds awesome though. I can't wait for the winter catalog. I want some of these: could really just be this painted: Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Pinned for ease of use. I have now replaced all 2010 threads with 2011 Quote
Delta 38 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 So it's basically the Ramses Pyramid game, but as a theme! No wonder there's a Ramses Return game planned for 2011! Yay! Now I will have minifig-sized mummies to go with my microfig ones! I wonder what the new game is like? I could probably combine these sets with Indiana Jones sets, because they seem fairly similar... Masked Builder Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Anything with the word "pharaoh" has me hooked! And as I've got a bunch of JT sets hopefully these will be as good or even better! Quote
Algernon Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 The return of Adventurers would be a dream come true! I've got my fingers crossed for this theme. Looking forward to seeing some pics. Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 WOW I'm getting really excited about this, I think I am going to rebuild all of my old Adventure sets Quote
M'Kyuun Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 This is great news, as I missed out on the Egyptian themed Adventure sets, and have been hoping for a new Egyptian theme, whether set in ancient times or modern era, ever since. Quote
Mac-K Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 This is very promising news indeed! The setting sounds fantastic, even if it isn't an Adventurers re-boot (although such a move would just be icing). After the relatively disappointing introduction of Kingdoms, I could really use a new theme to focus on. Here's hoping it turns out as great as it sounds! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Wow! It sounds like 2011 is going to be another great year for LEGO. I was very surprised to read this news regarding an Egyptian theme. Playmobil just released its Egypt theme, and its great to hear that LEGO will do the same. The large pyramid sounds pretty interesting to me. As a huge fan of Johnny Thunder and his desert adventures, I'm really looking forward to seeing the set images. The Indiana Jones theme was exciting and I was sad to see it end (if it is over for good), but with this new Adventurers-related theme, looks like the desert oasis lives on. Can't wait to see the theme. I'll have to start dusting off my other Desert Adventure-related sets with expanded building opportunities: Quote
Sisco Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Can't wait to see these sets. Ever since the Pharaoh minifigure showed up, I've been craving another Johnny Thunder/ Egyptian type theme. Great to see my thought processes coming to life! Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Sounds intresting, I look forward to hearing some more details of this and some pictures as well but at the moment it sounds good This could potentially make me bankrupt I'm starting to think the same thing to many themes! Quote
nausicaakro Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 ok, as requested, I repert here what i wrote in the news section: The pharaons quest is a very good line for me. Today i saw 2 little set on the retailer catalogue 1) airplain fighting against 2 mummies with wings. weird, i like them very much, they have a sort of atzec warrior look. Sadly nothing innovative in the airplain... 2) Johnny (quite similar to)on motorbike against 2 mummies with scarab Shield (very accurate) and new special sword (like Warhammer egyptian sword) nausi Quote

You're really doing the AFOL community a service with all this information and your Brickshelf folder, so thankyou Also, do you have picturesof these sets like you do of the series 3 minifigures? If not, can you remember any of the other details? kind regards WIll/rocketbilly Quote
castlestrike666 Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 I was planning to make an egyptian scene this or in the course of next year, so these new pieces and figs will come in handy! Quote

I'd rather have some sort of fantasy element than another human (if you can call it that) faction, so this is good. What's the scarab shield, by the way? Is it an actual scarab, or some structure featuring one? Perhaps you might be talking of "Attack of the Scarab", which seems like the most appropriate set here as it should feature a scarab somehow. While I'll like mummies and warriors and stuff, I can't really think of many other interesting minifigs we may get to see. Also, I've just noticed that collectible things are present in the sets. Maybe this will follow a similar vein to Atlantis, with the explorers collecting things to operate something. Quote
Ignited_Impulse Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Bummer, I'm not a fan of these humans vs monsters things. Oh well, still can't wait for some new Egypt sets. Quote
Dragonator Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Wow wow, new Egyptian sets? Next year is already looking very promising! I've always been a big fan of Johnny, so I'm really looking forward to these, particularly considering I missed most of the original "desert" sets. I'll be really interested to see how they structure this line and what the sets will be like it sounds very interesting and definitely something I'll be buying he whole line of. Quote

Barricade769 Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 You had me at halftrack I've always loved the old Adventurers theme, so this is probably going to be right up at the top of my 2011 most wanted list. I hope we get the same great temples and period vehicles that made Adventurers so great - but then again, halftrack . Halftrack halftrack halftrack Quote

Sirens-of-Titan Posted September 19, 2010 Posted September 19, 2010 Great stuff! This is seriously gonna hurt my wallet, but what are you gonna do, it's adventures and I missed out on all the big sets when the originals came out. Do I understand correctly or is every set a battle between explorers and mythical mummy creatures? If so what kind of mythical creatures are there? Are they just minifigs, or are there new animal molds such as sphinxes lions etc?? I would love to see some new animals! From what i hear this series is gonna be a treasure trove of unique pieces and treasure items; great for MOC'ing! I'm very interested in seeing this new sword that was mentioned above; from what I understand it looks like this: Please keep updating us with news and details nausicaakro! Quote

I don't remember other creatures in this line but I'll made a check tuesday I hope for a sphinxes nausi Edited September 19, 2010 by nausicaakro Quote
