Antwan cool Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 OK then I'll add them.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/54191445@N03/ You also have ALL of the NINJAGO uploaded, which still looks like a piece of crap to me Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Nice. Just beware, Flickr will delete your account if you are reported. I had Toy Story pictures up last year, twice, and they never deleted my account. Nor did LEGO seem to care about the other leaked pictures. However to be safe this is an account I made 5 minutes before posting the pictures here. If they delete it, oh well. Quote

Good call on the fresh account. Dano confirmed to me that he had his account deleted today because of spoiler pics he had uploaded. I don't know if anything else was involved in the account deletion, but seeing as how my account has my personal builds I didn't want it deleted. Thanks for hosting them. LEGOMAN132 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 This them looks pretty good. Its nice to see the motorcycle from the indy set and that plane looks very cool. The cobra is very nice looking and one of the best things is seeing the Adventures two set car piece. Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 These are great! Getting the scarab and cobra for sure. Quote
robuko Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Seems to be a lot of focus on guns, much more so than the original adventurers. What is the point of shooting the undead? I like the mummies, Anubis and scarabs but I think it would be better to spend the same money buying the old Egypt sets. Quote
Baylego Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 How awesome! All of this looks great. I like the new beetle shields a lot and the swords. I think that it is interesting that that they have a modern-ish military fighting them. I also the Anubis head! This is turning out to be a much better theme than I thought it would be. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 What is the point of shooting the undead? That has always been my problem with shooting zombies, they are dead, what does shooting them do? Quote
Lord Insanity Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That has always been my problem with shooting zombies, they are dead, what does shooting them do? Shooting the undead, especially Lego undead, makes them rest in pieces. Quote
Ignited_Impulse Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That has always been my problem with shooting zombies, they are dead, what does shooting them do? Technically they are the living dead. So it rest upon the zombie slayer to remove the living portion of their title and make them dead dead. And there should never be problems with shooting zombies, after all, America was founded on shooting zombies...or was it Native Americans? I didn't pay much attention in history class... Quote
Cerlin Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Has anyone read the Discworld novel "Pyramids" by Terry Pratchett? There are some resemblances to the book in this theme: In the story the space time is warped by 90 degrees to the rest of discworld so the old (egyptian) gods come alive and wreak havoc on the kingdom of djelibeybi. Even the sphinx comes alive(!). The hero then has to destroy the great pyramid to restore the reality of the kingdom, because the gods shouldn't really exist. So the big incarnations of old egyptian gods totally make sense to me Apart from that, I already love the theme because I missed out on adventurers (dark age) and all the other goodness previous posters already mentioned. Thanks, now I know why I didn't find the concept of the sphinx coming alive too strange. In fact I think this adds some playability beyond just pushing a vehicle around. Bits can fly off as it is shot. They look good and have play value so a winner in my book. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Hm, I just don’t know. On the one hand, I’m glad to see the Egypt theme revived, but on the other hand, I’m just not impressed with the overall result. It’s not for the reason you think though – while I don’t mind having another humans versus monsters theme, something about Phaorah’s Quest seems to scream “boring.” You know what I think it is? I think it’s that, from a design point, nothing here is really anything different from what we’ve seen in other themes – and in some ways, it almost seems like a step backwards from some of the recent action lines. The treaded vehicle in the Pyramid set is an excellent design: that is not a new, modernized version of an Adventurers’ vehicle, that IS an Adventurer’s vehicle, right down to the one piece seat and simple design. With all the neat design touches in themes like Space Police and Atlantis, the vehicles in this line seem rather simplistic and bare in comparison. In fact, if you took the giant monsters and mummies out, what you’ve have left would fit right in with the Egypt sets we got in 1998. That’s not to say that revisiting classic themes from the ground up is necessarily a bad move. The problem I have is that it’s lazy, especially when we expect much more sophisticated set designs from modern themes. Again, look at some of the vehicles in Space Police and Atlantis – they blow the water out of anything we got ten years ago, with all their complex functions, greebles, and seamlessly incorporated technic bits. On the other hand, these Pharoah’s Quest sets scream “last millennium,” and I can’t really pick out one neat design technique or function. All the effort seems to have gone into the bad guys, and even then, only really into the new figures and accessories. The brick-built monsters don’t hold a candle to the ones in some of TLC’s previous themes, IMO, and nothing about them makes me want to purchase sets built around them. So, does anyone else share this view, or am I really just a lone dog howling for his favorite treats? So what you are complaining about is that these new designs do not have any technic beams and play functions. Two elements the majority of AFOLS make huge hissy fusses about when set pictures show up? I think it's a welcome return to a theme I loved with nice designs that have style over super function junk. Yeah. That didn't make a lot of sense to me either. That's probably one of the best things about the theme to me- no annoying, barely-functional "play features" that ruin the aesthetics of the designs. Quote

Delta 38 Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Now that I've seen the pictures, I think that the sphinx doesn't appeal too much any more. I hope the set with the biplane contains two of those flying mummies (preferably more, but I can't see any more mummies). I can't tell if the one at the top is part of the set, though I think it probably is. I may get two of the motorcycle set because I want to stock up on mummies. I also hope the cobra set contains more than one. Edited September 23, 2010 by Delta 38 Quote
The Crazy One Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Love it. This is something I have been dying for for a while now. However, though Atlantis is also impressive, NinjaGO is a massive let down from what I can see. Not impressive at all. Quote
General Magma Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 That's it! Time to get out my minifigure parts so I can re-build Johnny Thunder and his gang. Now I know what to save up for.. Kinda disappointed about the fact that Johnny Thunder doesn't make a comeback however, but alas - as far as I can remember, TLC revamps older themes all without the old figures. I dunno what's up with the flying mummies, though.. Does anyone know what's wrong with that? Yes, the new wing pieces are very nice - but why flying mummies? ~ General Magma Quote

I mean, why not flying mummies? Having living mummies in the first place is defying the conventions of reality, so there's no reason not to expand that to flying mummies or giant living statues of animals. Quote
Plissken Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I really love this theme. I don't mind if one half of the pyramid is a baseplate and I think the combination of building and Creature in the sphinx set is great. Very cool new pieces, great minifigs and awesome vehicles. I the design of the machineguns (immediately built them myself). I hope there will be only a few changes for the final product (sunglassed face must go ). I'm really happy with the sets. Next year will be very expensive. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I have to say, I like the look of these new sets. I am a bit bummed that Johnny Thunder isn't making a comeback. I mean, it kind of makes sense, as he did already do some adventuring in Egypt, and it might seem like a complete rehash (but hey, if a new adventure calls you back to a place you've been before, a true adventurer would follow). I like the new elements, and I really like what I can see of the cars. I do hope that the sets go through a final incarnation before they're released, though--a few of them seem a little rough. Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I for one am excited, and I asume that they'll be a few refinments before the release of all the sets, I can't wait to add some more adventurers to my group also the torsos would be god for some sort of iregular regiments. While I am excited I'll have to wait and see what the UK prices turn out to be, if they've been posted sorry I must have missed them and depending on how high they are I'll make my assesment of how much will be joining me at home. Captain Blockbeard Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 After seeing the pictures, I'm not as interested in the overall Pharaoh's Quest sets. The minifigures and vehicles impress, but each set taken as a whole underwhelms. At the very least, they all use a number of pieces that may give value to the sets as parts packs for me. Meanwhile, the pictures of new Atlantis sets have me reconsidering my earlier views of not buying any more from the Atlantis theme. Quote
Oky Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) These sets look better than I feared, although they're not as great as they could have been. I'm just glad to have Adventurers back, and a Sphinx that turns into a mech is still a whole lot better than one with a stupid ejector-seat in my book. Even though this does seem like Atlantis-in-Egypt, I think the idea of statues that come to live is pretty neat. Race for the Golden Staff and Duel in the Air are definitely my favorites, and I'll likely get multiples. I might get the Cursed Cobra too, depending on the price. I don't get the complaint about the guns though. The first Adventurers sets had lots of them too, even on the Bi-planes. So what if one or two more vehicles have one gun mounted on them?
