exon_from_youtube Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Very nice car... I liked it better then the K-9 van my self Gray Radio....Not the normal black (I set the old radio next to the cop for comparison) No more three pieces for the door sill, this one comes with a duel reverse angle with a 1x4 molded in the middle Note the license plate... No more model number... look at the K-9 van in the far....see? No seat.... but he sits nice and low...... but still no doors...WTF... I want my doors in my sets! yep if you want the over seas look... thats included..... or just copy the car and you have stickers for two cars! I would put in pros and cons.... but you get the point and yes even with out doors, the car looks good ! Yes it has solid construction unlike other sets in the past.....  4/5 score in my books..... pick this one up so you have a squad when you get the cop station later.... if you dont have it already Quote
Fugazi Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Hmm this is actually an old (2005) set, except that the sticker sheet was updated from black to blue background a couple of years ago. Edit: Brickset reference Edited December 1, 2010 by Fugazi Quote
exon_from_youtube Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Hmm this is actually an old (2005) set, except that the sticker sheet was updated from black to blue background a couple of years ago. Edit: Brickset reference well when TRU got the new stock in, this arrived as well.... may it be a re-do on legos? I dont know... but this was the same story at all three TRU in town so I picked it up.... So in my books it goes down as a 2011 set if it arrived as one.... No disrespect Quote
exon_from_youtube Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 I guess your correct... was looking into it deeper...found that they never stopped selling the 2008 version.... wtf? I thought they are supposed to change up every year? I feel like a jack-megablocks now... Quote

exon_from_youtube Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 New sets come out every year, but that doesn't mean they discontinue sets after exactly one year. So the lesson today is check on the set first online and date it.... I figured something was up when the copy rights on the stickers dated as 2008 as shown.... just wanted to contribute ya know? pacc Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 So that was the introduction of the fat cars? I hope that TLG decides to revise and update the front piece for the standard car: http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/52038 My first reaction was to turn it over and use as a smaller mudguard, but the backside lacks the needed holes. Fugazi Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 just wanted to contribute ya know? You can have a look at the different indexes of reviews around the forum (such as here and here) to get an idea of the sets that need reviewing, but a second opinion on sets already reviewed is always welcome! Just a word of advice though... If you are reviewing a set, try to keep it as per the instructions, if you mod it like you did for the police car, then how are we to know what really comes in the box? Quote

WesternOutlaw Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 exon_from_youtube: I'm sorry, but this review really needs some work. I don't think the Town Forum is the right place to critique your review, as we like to focus on the aspects of the set, rather then the quality of the review. I would suggest you look into our EB Reviewers Academy, or even some past reviews to get a better idea of the types of things people appreciate. Some structure to the review, facts, clear/well-lit pictures, critical analysis - to name a few. Thanks for attempting to review this set - just need to work on improving the review. I'll leave the topic open if you plan to edit down the road. I have changed the title of your post to reflect "thoughts on this set". Quote

Fugazi Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 the blue and extra red and yellow clears came in the box... It's true, but it would have been worth including at least one photo with the model assembled following the instructions. Anyway it's your first review, hang around and you'll get plenty of tips to become an expert reviewer yourself! Quote

Anyway it's your first review, hang around and you'll get plenty of tips to become an expert reviewer yourself! well I was a mod on an Electric pocket bike forum for a long time... So I know how it rolls..... But the discouragement I feel right now sucks, but that is just the learning effect right? Trust me, I am no expert compared to a lot of you guys... but then again, the Lego bricks 1995 and up have changed a lot and until I buy my 50th to 100th set in the coming year, I will probably not have them all down yet.. But I am a great 1980-1990's MOC builder though... just need to up the par to SNOT and other forms of brick techniques that have hit the Lego minds since I was gone... I have printed every PDF book on the forum and other places to help me out later for when I start getting in more flats and smooths and other useful bricks... I am limited to my builds right now and what I can take in.... other then look at the pages of this forum and hope my city layout can compare to some of the good ones on here some day... PS...since this is so off topic, this was what I did in my past Quote
