Bundalings Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I really don't like XL as a set. Great parts, but he's dang ugly. Quote
vexorian Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 So far I got Raw-Jaw , Stringer and Fangz. Overall I love the two villains' aesthetic, they are far more beasty than anything Bionicle has made, yet their bricks are smooth. I think I will avoid the large sets and instead get more Fangz and Raw-jaw, their bricks are wonderful, and the only big set that attracts me is Witch Doctor, but he is taken. I might get Rocka for bricks though. Quote

In spite of its being a robot, it looks more organic than most of the Bionicle beasts, at least those released: I remember the bear in the Mask of Light film, an that lookd pretty awsome! Quote
Front Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I thought Fangz was the least cool of the new villains, but right now I got two, the only villain I got two of. Quote
Nightcruise Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Guess its the Transformers fan in me, but I found Waspix to be really great. Always did like the Waspinator vibe the set had. Quote
Kalhiki Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Raw Jaw is definitely my fav SP villain. I just love his gorilla look. Kalhiki Quote

It was one of the reasons I bought the set, besides the extra arm connector in the back. Now just to find the right pieces to make a Hero Factory Waspinator Quote
Aanchir Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Just wanted to share that the online preview version of the latest US LEGO Club Magazine has some Hero Factory goodies. Previous online preview versions of LEGO Club magazines were interactive, but this only amounted to some of the pictures being animated. The latest issue, however, has playable games taking the place of most non-interactive games and puzzles from the hard copy version of the magazine. If you complete the Hero Factory puzzle on the page linked above (which isn't hard), you get to download an awesome wallpaper based on the CGI illustration from those two pages! For those who don't want the thrill of clicking and dragging pictures into place (or who have trouble running flash-based websites), the wallpaper can be found here. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Anyone recieve any damaged parts in a newly purchased set? I just bought Rocka 3.0 and his chestplate has a tiny piece of plastic chipped off. Considering the fact nothing happened to cause this it must have been like that in the package. Quote

VBBN Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Random combo I made. Playing with ideas really is all it is. Plus I hate lego's official combos. Quote
Brickthing Posted December 15, 2011 Posted December 15, 2011 Random combo I made. Playing with ideas really is all it is. Plus I hate lego's official combos. I was so confused by the new 2012 combos that I made my own instead. The issue with the Hero sets of 2011 (Winter particularly) is that you can't combine the two torso bones into a bigger frame without Technic connectors that most Hero sets don't have. As the sets in 2012 and beyond start getting more obscure, there will be more useful pieces for making interesting combiners. Quote
VBBN Posted December 16, 2011 Posted December 16, 2011 Yeah That's the main problem with this guy, he works fine by just his backpack kinda grabbing on but a technic connector works far better(Glad I still got a bunch of them from TECHNIC and Bionicle 08 sets) Quote
vexorian Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 So, compare titans of 2011? I got to say that after finally getting Fire lord, Rocka XL is the absolute worst titan. Fire Lord actually looks cool and his main weakness is the lack of leg armor. Witch doctor is a definite first place, although his build is not free of gaps he is so tall that he looks like he could go one on one on Kardas Dragon and have a 50% chance of winning assuming only physical attacks are used, in other words, boy he is tall. Rocka XL looks like such a mess up. Honestly, the only good thing about him is the gold bricks, but I think three non-XL Rockas cost as much and would give you more gold. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Yeah, I'm not a fan of Rocka XL either. The main thing he did introduce was the way of filling those gaps in Fire Lord's legs, which can also be done with Fire Lord and Bulk 3.0. But the set on the whole just felt like a generic titan model with Rocka's mask and all types of blades thrown everywhere. It lacked the personality of the smaller Rocka set. Witch Doctor was amazing but at the same time I felt he diverged from the typical Hero Factory building system perhaps a little too heavily. I guess TLG really only needed one traditionally-built titan per wave, but all I could think about when everyone was showering Witch Doctor with praise was "how is this design going to help set designs in the future?" Witch Doctor was in a class by himself, but some aspects like the awkward leg and arm posability and the blocky hips made him feel like one step forward and one step back in titan set design rather than making lasting improvements. Dorek Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Yes, 2011 is over, but it's not too late for some belated 2011 goodies. As per a request by the HS01/BS01 staff, Carlos D'Anda showed us these textless pages of the promotional comic that Europeans got: Page 1 (can't believe I never noticed Nitroblast there in the corner... he was mostly obscured by text boxes, but still) Page 2 (Stormer looks like he's about to open a can of whoopass) Big thanks to D'Anda for revealing these; his art style is just brilliant. Dorek Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 He did the same thing in Comic 4, on the cover; just a particular style he liked better, I guess. I'm sure not complaining. Quote
ZORK64 Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Due to a clearance sale of the older HF sets in one toy store here I bought various 2011 sets, one of them is Witch Doctor. According to the action figure review index (which hadn't been updated, though), there's still a review for him needed. So I'll write one once I have time for this (in other words, this post is only a heads-up for a review). Quote
