Kenta Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Please, can we have a competition about how many new styled y-joints, or ball-cup-hand (93571, not 93575 as I originally wrote) that guy has ? Hint: it's more than five My guess is 6 to 9 Quote
Front Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 P.S Front. You work for Hero Factory, right, if so can you show/tell us more of scorpio Yes, I'm a Part Designer, so I engineer (3D model) the parts that the designers want. Officially I only know about what's in the stores, though my knowledge stops at the 2011 January release. Front aka Erland Quote

Takanuva-nui Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Just picked up Fire Lord this past weekend. I love these new parts, and the Fire Lord is a gold mine. Haven't gotten around to MOCing with him yet, but the legs are an easy mod to cover up those gaps. The main problem I found with him was his arms. The double attachment is good for stability, but horrible for pose-ability.. Next I'm looking to pick up a hero. Possibly Evo or Stormer. I can't believe we have images for the summer already. The titans look like parts packs while the animals look like something that I could possibly be interested in once I see clearer pics. The heroes are kind of a wash for me. It looks like more clones, especially when it comes to weapons, but at least we have better masks/helmets this time. As far as the weapons go, part of me likes that they are built out of multiple pieces in unique ways, but part of me just can't get over how the parts are so reused. Quote
Aethersprite Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I hope Fangz has some back articulation. With the new building system it's perfectly possible. I would love to be able the align Fangz's back spines. Quote

The heroes are just new helmets and weapons and thats all. I really hope that 4.0(if they have 4.0) has much more new armor and colors Quote

The Hero Factory sets use a completely new system of pieces, so I don't think they'll jump away from it quickly. The 3.0 sets seem to be doing exactly what Bionicle sets did, which is change thinks slightly and make a few improvements, enough to keep each new wave of sets "fresh". Quote

But we got used to it. but bionicle had lots of types of armors and recolors. While hero factory doesnt have much. But i am sure more new pieces will be coming our way next year. Quote

Well they gave us like ten new armor pieces this year, not to mention like twenty limbs and at least three torsos, so I think a wave or two without many new base pieces is just fine. Quote

Bfahome Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I meant this summer. But nevermind. I know, I was saying that since they just introduced an entirely new system chock full of new elements it's reasonable to have a wave or two without many new shared molds, like this summer. Quote

I agree. This new system must have cost them a lot of new molds, and justifies a little cost-cutting. For that I've forgiven Lego for the dual-sided masks, but just for the Winter 2011 wave. EDIT: By the way, due to the fact that the spears are made of flexible rubber, do they fall off the weapons of Stormer 2.0 and Evo 2.0 easily? Edited January 12, 2011 by Lockon Stratos Quote

Not that I've experienced, although I haven't subjected either piece to heavy use that might wear them out. It's worth noting that the spears are held in by multiple semi-circle rings rather than a full circle hole. This means that the spear/minifig accessory needs to be long enough to be held by more than one ring to stay attached - Viking horns/teeth or shoulder spikes can't be attached. Quote

Only the two last (inner) half-circles have function. The outer have bigger diameters. So a rod will only attach when it reaches those two inner half-circles. Quote

So a rod will only attach when it reaches those two inner half-circles. Is there a particular reason for this? All of the half-circles having normal diameters would result in too much friction, but having the outer half-circles wider limits the number of rod-pieces that are compatible with the shield. Quote

The short version is that it's a toy for kids. .. Function in the outer rings could easily be destroyed if you tilted a light saber half way down. Quote
The Dor Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) Hey, Front, what do you think the odds are of us getting some new bone pieces this summer? There are some gaps in the parts numbers where some different sizes would fit perfectly, eg 3 stud length size difference between 90616 and 90613, perfect for a 90615 and 90614 of the two missing sizes, as well as the size 7 armor piece. I guess there might be a reason why 90615 and 90614 haven't been seen yet :-) I agree, there is quite a gap between 90616 with 1 Technic hole, and 90613 with 4. Quote

Zarkan Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 We've seen those pics, But it's great we have a close up of Rocka XL. Hm, to be honest, Rocka XL seems to fix most of the problems that were present on Fire Lord. However, I still don't get why he's getting both a titan set and a canister set - are they finally taking Hero Factory somewhere Bionicle hasn't gone by making a major bad guy become good? Or is it the other way around, with Rocka betraying the team and getting a power-up from the villian? Either way, it could offer some interesting storyline opportunities - that is, if TLC wasn't so intent on spending practically no effort on HF's storyline beyond the first year. Quote

Seeing as how you're correct regarding the lackluster storyline, somehow I doubt anything will be done with Rocka XL other than having Rocka 3.0 "Power Up" for no apparent reason, becoming larger.
