toatali Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Daniel Rocka: A newly created hero for the Alpha Team with the latest upgraded 3.0 system. He has gold and black armor and a white Hero Core. Rocka carries a large multifunctional claw on his right hand and a projectile weapon as well. Rocka also has a helmet which resembles a Lion head. He has recently been assigned with the Alpha Team to the world of Quatros to stop the evil Witch Doctor. Argument setteled. Quote

Brickthing Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 I've added descriptions of the Heroes and villains to the first post, not sure if they're new or not, but they also included the final piece counts. Unfortunately they don't confirm Rocka's gender, but it mentions "lion power" rather than "lioness power". As much as I'd like Rocka to be an Amazonian jungle queen, I think Rocka is probably a him. Antrozek Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 weird that LEGO didn't put a female character in the hero team. I still hope for Rocka to be lionless Quote
Antrozek Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 SKRALL ROCKA IS A SHE Im triying to remember what got us to think that back in december 2008 Quote
Bfahome Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 Im triying to remember what got us to think that back in december 2008 It was just mutated speculation over who the female character in the line would be. I don't think we really ever thought it seriously. Or at least I didn't. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 this wouldn't be LEGO's first time doing an all male team......piraka anyone? Quote

Cap'n Kopaka Posted May 14, 2011 Posted May 14, 2011 yeah but good guys? Stars and Phantoka *shrug* Ah well. I was hoping for a big heroine when I saw Rocka but I'm not particularly disappointed. That whole "gangsta/rocka" thing actually makes a lot of sense x3 But then does that make... Jimi Stringa? Quote

Omicron Squad Leader Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) The use of "a" for feminine names and words is Latin in origin, and actually occurs in a lot of languages more often than it does in English (let me also take the opportunity to say that it was a formation I generally hated in BIONICLE names unless the original name was from Latin or another romance language-- far too many fan characters had female names that ended in "a" for no reason). But personally, that's not the impression I get from the name Rocka at all. Instead, it reminds me of the word "rocker" with the end slightly corrupted, much like "gangsta". It doesn't at all strike me as a feminine name, and in fact the consonant and vowel sounds make it seem harsh and masculine to me. But those sorts of impressions are really subjective. EDIT: On a side note, I wonder what Rocka's first name will be (assuming Rocka is, in fact, a last name in the same way as Nex and Evo). You do have a good point that some of the names like Fangz would be extremely weird as species names. I can't easily picture a character saying, "Look out! A Fangz!" Speaking of Fangz, he's the one I'm sure has an individual name. He has been presented as Witch Doctor's 'pet' or bodyguard, so Doc probably decided to name him individually, albeit a bad name at that. So we'll probably see Fangz with Witch Doctor a lot if they produce a Savage Planet episode(s) for the series. Edited May 15, 2011 by Omicron Squad Leader Quote
Aethersprite Posted May 15, 2011 Posted May 15, 2011 (edited) oh shi, I have to draw that I can almost see it already... Anyway, for Rocka 3.0, his bare shoulder doesn't look as good as it does on Bulk. I'll probably move the black armour on his right shoulder over to his left, even if it means leaving his right side armourless. Or move his green armour on to his shoulder. Meh. Nike2032 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) Just looking over amazon and found the new 3.0 sets on pre-order and I saw Furno 3.0. I suddenly realized what a disappointment he was and didn't notice that anyone had made a topic about it. I mean he could have been improved by only two ways, but they were each important features to a character. For starters, TLC really is cutting it close with ignoring to place any amour at his thigh area and it looks quite wrong. My second thought was that his weapon could have been awesome is they made a new mold for a proper bow and arrow. Don't get me wrong, apart from Furno, the summer sets is a extremely great line of characters, but its the fact that Furno looks really out of place that made me wonder whether or not you share this view. I may be wrong, this is just my opinion Edited May 19, 2011 by Nike2032 Quote

I may be wrong, this is just my opinion First of all, I don't have the foggiest idea why you feel this needs its own topic. There's a perfectly good Hero Factory 2011 topic where this could be discussed. Anyway, I personally like Furno 3.0's legs. They are thin, which makes him look agile and birdlike. As for his weapon, I'm very fond of that and don't see the point of making a specialized mold for that purpose when existing molds do so well (and have never before been used for that purpose). The main thing I would have changed, personally, would have been the color of his weapon. ideally, I feel it should have been 315 Silver Metallic to match his wings rather than 316 Titanium Metallic as it's been colored in previous sets. Then again, it looks like his torso armor is also Silver Metallic, so perhaps it's his wings that should have been colored differently... Quote
Gokey Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 (edited) My personal thought/guess could possibly be to free up pieces for their combiner model possibly. Not that the pieces couldn't be used to begin with just a thought. Edited May 20, 2011 by Gokey Quote
Jetrax99 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 First off: Why do most people bash on Furno??? Second: Aanchir is right...this discussion belongs in the HERO Factory 2011 topic and this one should be closed. Quote

I think it's important that the bow is a different colour to the wings, because they'd be made of a different metals to each serve their function - light weight and strong material for the wings, and a denser non-conductive material for the bow, to contain whatever technology the bow operates with. Furno probably could've afforded to have more recoloured/new pieces, but Furno's design is already relying on character appeal and playability rather than pieces by having less armour, so it might not have been worth producing a new piece when the Villian blades work so well. I agree. Though I would like the 3 stud long armour on Furno's upper thighs, he would still have a relatively agile appearance and the piece count would boost from a pathetic 28 to 30. Jagersmann Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Furno is ok. About Rocka. In my language, the translation of the word "Rock/stone" is "Roca/piedra". So if you mix "Rock" with "Roca" you will get: "Rocka", but is just an opinion, is just a name. Quote
Gokey Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Cant wait for the new sets! any predictions on Witch Doctors height? Seems he may be taller then Toa mata Nui? Quote
