Jouster Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I heard something like that too from a retailer. He said the line will be discontinued in 2012. I don't believe it though. Quote
Jouster Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 (edited) Double post...Graaaaaaaaaaaaaa...Anyway, I hope that the line will not be discontinued. Edited June 8, 2011 by Jouster Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Well this guy has the yearly dealer book and there is only four pages for Hero Factory for this year (seen with my own eyes), and that might be it......perhaps Lego will do something to do with Marvel or something.....retailers have told me that HP does sell as well as you know what (and it's NOT Ben10)! Aanchir Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I'm fairly skeptical about the theme ending since I don't have any idea where a retailer might get that sort of information. A retailer's catalog could tell you some things, but at the same time it wouldn't reveal anything like that conclusively. Perhaps Hero Factory might just take a half-year hiatus the same way Kingdoms did. At the same time, it'd be a shame if it were to end just as I was beginning to really enjoy it. Quote
Aethersprite Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 At the same time, it'd be a shame if it were to end just as I was beginning to really enjoy it. Agreed. The 3rd wave is when the series is really beginning to shine, it'd be a pity to end it just like that. Quote
Brickthing Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 NO*snip*! Are you serious? It's unlikely there will be another action figure theme, and if this ends, NO MORE FIGURES. But if wasn't a LEGO store, then he might mean just for that certain market. AH*snip*! Calm down - if Hero Factory does end after this year there will be another action figure theme to replace it, using mostly the same pieces. The Hero Factory building system is specifically designed to be non-specific to Hero Factory, so that it doesn't need to be shelved when Hero Factory is shelved. How does a 2011 dealer book contain information about 2012 releases? There are only two HF waves per year, so I wouldn't expect there to be more Hero Factory sets being released this year. On the subject of this upcoming summer wave, I'm not sure what to think of Raw-Jaw yet. I expected him to be very small compared to Heroes, but he doesn't have nearly as many pieces as the other villains either, so I'm most interested to know how big the hand/arm pieces to see if he is worth his price or not. The gunmetal shoulder shells are a big advantage as well though, because only one is currently only available from the Fire Lord set. Quote

I wouldn't expect more sets for 2011, though, which is all that book is for. I'm guessing he doesn't have the 2012 book. Regardless, if this comes to be pass I'll be sad. There's absolutely no reason for them to cancel Hero Factory, being at the height of its popularity and having such room for growth. -Mesonak Edited June 8, 2011 by Mesonak Quote
Aethersprite Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Speaking of 2011 sets, is there no mention of an exclusive or something? Quote

I'm not very interested in the story, so as long as the building system is the same I'm 0k with it. Even if there's a new line and it does change the system, rhere may still be a "transition" year of using the same style of building, like the first year of Hero Factory. Quote
Omicron Squad Leader Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 I personally don't believe Hero Factory will be discontinued so soon. Sales have gone up over 8% from BIONICLE to Hero Factory, so cancelling it now just wouldn't seem logical. Quote

There's absolutely no reason for them to cancel Hero Factory, being at the height of its popularity and having such room for growth. Even if Hero Factory is doing really well, it could still be temporarily replaced by a theme that's expected to do even better. Currently a Marvel license seems to be a possibility that would certainly outdo Hero Factory, although I think Summer 2012 would be the earliest date possible for such sets. Speaking of 2011 sets, is there no mention of an exclusive or something? Sadly no, there hasn't been. I'd love to see a yellow Raw-Jaw though. I think the lack of special edition sets may be linked to the HF system being very new - there isn't a wide enough range of old pieces to make a special edition set (which have very few new pieces) that is a decent model and is still worth buying compared to normal sets with so many new pieces. Well we didn't get pictures of Bulk & Vapour until late June last year, so there's still a small chance, I guess. I'd love to see a cage made completely of bone elements with a Hero inside and a beast guarding it, with a second Hero to fend it off. Would probably be about $39.99 though. I just remembered that little fact and was about to say it-However you already did. Now that I remember that fact, Hero Factory can't end this quick. I believe Bionicle was canceled because its sales has gone way below and they needed something new and fresh. And sorry for being nuts about it Brickthing: What the heck inspired you of an yelloy Ra....*Checks Doc's box* Oh. I also think I see an green Waspix if my eyes are correct. I would LOVE an limited edition set. Sure, recolored beasts may be good but what I really want is a vehicle. Edited June 8, 2011 by TheRedGuy Quote
The Crazy One Posted June 8, 2011 Posted June 8, 2011 Retailers don't get that information. I can tell you it's not going to end for a good three years, though I doubt it will outlive BIONICLE (Though it would be plausible). I have already got them money for a bulk (hehe) buy, of a few Heros and Villains. Quote
Ceroknight Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Pity, I was thinking Hero Faactory will grow into Bionicle's big shoes... I think another reason why is because of the lack of original stories..we are familiar with the jungle, fire, etc themes so there is no point on doing those again... Oh well, I wonder what will be next... Quote

Or that there was no point in having BIONICLE climaxes take place underground after 2001. Ideas are rarely "touch once and avoid forever after" type things, especially ideas as vague as a general setting or conflict theme. Quote

Not necessarily, both have expanded their story line by introducing new and updated sets,or introducing new characters related to the original story line. Whereas Hero Factory is a new theme witch to me, is just Bionicle in the future.. A way I can see Hero Factory succeed is to introduce other teams like the different clone squadrons in Star Wars. averick Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 i totally agree if they end hero factory they will replace it with something almost exactly the same system and ive always considered hero factory as bionicle in the future Quote

I also asked the guy on the LEGO Store when can I expect the new Hero Factory sets while I was picking up some pieces. He said I can expect them at least before July. I didn't ask him about the cancel thing, however. Quote

As by now every 20th kid in Germany has the set, I just picked up the phone and dialed some random numbers, until a kid with the instructions in his hands, was kind enough to pass on the information. Or maybe not :-) Quote
