Nice stripes! The fading, imo, is for the better as it makes it look more realistic. The placing and design is great, too. Makes him look even more like a tiger, while not looking tacky or out of place. Once again, nice!

I decided to give Nex some stripes! I used a regular Sharpie marker, which is why it's fading so quickly, but I like the effect.

Something I find that works well for that ink problem is by using a paint marker. They produce deeper colors and don't fade very much. The only problem is that they can be hard to come by. My local hobby shop runs out of them very quickly.

Just because Stringer looks good: Savage Planet DVD

I suppose it's now all but confirmed that yes, the roboball scene with Furno, Stringer, and Bulk 2.0 is in fact from the Savage Planet episodes, rather than a deleted scene from the Ordeal of Fire episode.

Kind of intrigued by the possibility of a Hero Recon update... I wonder what it means by "Combined Elements"? The example image obviously shows a complex build that wouldn't currently be possible with Hero Recon Team given its limited building experience (and obviously the fact that it uses 3.0 parts). But the word "combined" bothers me-- does this mean, for instance, that new 3.0 options will only be available as pre-assembled weapons?

It's possible that I'm misinterpreting this completely, and that we really have nothing to worry about, and I certainly hope this is the case. It could be that treating the new weapon pieces and building opportunities as something so new and different is just a way of building anticipation for a parts expansion. Or it could be that upcoming HRT updates will allow more freedom, so you can make more creative weapons than the current interface allows. But I can't completely get these worries off my mind.

Still no downloads for the 3.0 wave on the Hero Factory website... I have to say I'm quite disappointed those haven't shown up yet, nearly halfway through August.

By the way, something I ought to mention about this latest wave of sets... I had been really disappointed with the design of the "name badge" graphics for the 3.0 wave. But after I got Bulk 3.0 and my brother got Rocka 3.0, I have to say I'm much more impressed! The reflective silver and gold of the name badges (they all have silver, and to my knowledge only Rocka has gold) is incredible-looking in real life, something that can't really be seen in photographs or renders. Amazingly, the printed colors are a close match to the current pearl silver (315 Silver Metallic) and pearl gold (297 Warm Gold), something I really love. Bulk's name badge had been one of my least favorite since we first saw it, but I have a newfound respect for it now that I can hold it in my hand.

Still haven't seen any really believable rumors regarding 2012 sets, but I ought to mention that someone asked at Brickfair, and the Super Heroes sets will not be replacing Hero Factory sets, and there is no end to the Hero Factory theme being forecast currently. So we definitely can expect some Hero Factory sets in 2012.

Sorry for the double-post, but there's some cool new online content today! First of all, the downloads section now has 3.0 wallpapers. Unfortunately, I don't find these ones as stylish as the 2.0 ones, even if the lime green color is nice. Still no new posters or screensavers, unfortunately.

Additionally, the HeroFactory.LEGO.com homepage has a new video, where some of the designers build creative models using parts from the latest villain sets. The model which appears at the end of the video, of course, has an advantage over the others in that it also uses older BIONICLE parts like transparent fluorescent green Bohrok eyes.

Lastly, today's "From the Call Center" includes an amusing call: "I need help! The evil BlinkMaster is attacking with his Beezerp henchbots!" Any BZPower veteran should be able to see the joke here-- "Beezerp" refers to BZPower, while "BlinkMaster" is a pun on Binkmeister, the BZPower username of Kelly McKiernan, the current webmaster of the Hero Factory site. I can never tell whether these "joke calls" are made by actual users of the website or by Kelly himself, but it's always amusing to see shout-outs to the fans like that.

Kelly gave cake today at work, 4 years at the LEGO company.

There's a very interesting post in the news section of herofactory.lego.com: http://herofactory.lego.com/en-us/news/readmore/default.aspx?id=347093

It tells us that Savage Planet will air in the US on September 5th (Labor Day) and we've got a new picture of the film to boot. I hope someone records and posts the movie on the internet for those of us who don't live in the States.

Thank you! When I have time, I'll post my other modifications to Hero Factory sets.

I'm glad its airing this early, I'm excited about it. It seems that each HF movie is a step up from its predecessor-- I loved the graphics and camera angles in Ordeal of Fire, and it looks like the fight scenes in Savage Planet are well thought out. I am also hoping for it to be online soon, as I don't get Nicktoons.

EDIT: I got a Raw-Jaw! Did a quick sketch of him here.

Check out the new video with my friends Simon and Matt on herofactory.com

They are showing off some building with our new system of beams and shells, by using four of this summers big sets.

I saw that! It's always neat to see that the designers are really thinking of the system as a creative tool rather than just components of a toy for kids to play with. But then again, I guess with their job they'd have to think of it both ways!

Anyway, some Hero Recon Team news: first of all, the second combined element is now shown on the Combined Elements page. But more importantly, there's a bit of news I feel I ought to share: see here. I expect there will be a new unique element replacing the black-and-silver chest piece when HRT, DesignByMe, and Pick-A-Brick get updated in September. I'm gonna try and get a Hero Recon Team order very shortly, after I've gotten my siblings' feedback on what other parts besides the unique chest plate would be cool to include (I'm thinking Transparent Fluorescent Reddish Orange parts).

Some more odd happenings at Hero Recon: despite the fact that the link is still on the Hero Recon and LEGO main pages, it seems that the Combined Elements page has been removed. Both links are broken, and the storyline page is not there. Don't know why they would do that, since the third element hasn't been revealed yet.

Also, I do hope that there is another unique element; maybe another blended chest plate?

EDIT: The Combined Elements page is now back up, and the links are working. Still a bit odd, though.

EDIT2: Gone again.

EDIT3: Aaaand it's back again. I'll just stop editing if it is disappearing or not, this is getting too tedious. =P

I had the same thought, and decided to order two custom heroes and a few Hero Factory parts from Pick A Brick in order to get an ADU Jetpack set with my order, but also to make sure I got the unique chest armour piece in case it gets replaced. I designed one, and my girlfriend designed the other (though she knew what parts I wanted to include - namely transparent orange cladding and the exclusive chest piece) I'm hoping that if the blended chest piece is removed and replaced with a similar exclusive it'll be the 2.0 helmet piece also in co-injected silver and black. It would make for a nice addition, and a standard helmet in black is, in my opinion, sorely needed.

Just found this on the Recon page, the armour piece exclusive to Hero Recon Team is being discontinued.

http://herorecon.lego.com/en-gb/about/news/outgoing-unique-element/

Interesting. Bad news for those who are yet to order a customhero but want the chest plate... but it could be replaced with something equally as good, if not better. Not long left to get it, though... it's being replaced in September.

If it's just the chest piece you want, then maybe it's available on Bricklink. Might be expensive, though and you don't get the full experience of designing your own figure and having it delivered in a fancy box and whatnot :sceptic:

Speaking of Hero Recon Team, has anybody ever thought of making a MOC of Merrick Fortis (the hero that commands HRT)?

I think Dorek (General Manager of HS01) is planning on making one. There's a lot of steps to making one, though. You need to get the chest piece from HRT, but there are some parts of him that can't be ordered on HRT (like the engine cap pieces from the Fire Villains, which he has on each shoulder). Most of these can be gotten as Pick-A-Brick parts, but it still requires multiple orders to get all the necessary pieces.

Additionally, Merrick Fortis is often built and colored differently in different images.

I've been thinking about making a Fortis as well, though the price has made me start putting it off. I'm hoping to buy one soon, though, if not just to get one of the black/silver chest pieces. I'm mainly going by this image of him, and what I threw together really wasn't that off, cladding positioning and shoulder caps aside:

While I was searching for Savage Planet information on Google so I can see when Savage Planet airs on TV , I clicked every search results, desperate to find out information. I came across some site about TV shows, and it had a section called "Earliest air date" and it said August 28 . Is this some stupid unofficial date or real? Because on Lego.com, it said Labor day. Maybe in some other country. I'm just gonna surf the TV all day tomorrow, then.

Well, Savage Planet was broadcasted on TV here on Argentina a few weeks ago. Overall it was a bit better than Ordeal of Fire, way better than the Rise of the Rookies. Two episodes only, the extra 20 minutes of the DVD must be Ordeal of Fire, nice new intro by the way.

Spoiler for, well, spoilers about the show,:

- Nex seems to have feelings for Breez, he was about to fall to his death and before he fell he said "Tell Breez I love her". Don't know if joking or something, but he was in a near-death event.

- Rocka XL was built with... Destroyed Hero parts found in a cave, Nex and Furno upgraded him with the pieces. Strangely, the upgrade seems to disappear at the end.

- Yes, Rocka 3.0 does appear, he isn't like Surge who was upgraded at the end.

- Fred Tatasciore was Witch Doctor and Tom Kenny was Rocka according to the credits, can't tell, it's the Spanish dub, different voice actors.

- Remember that part on the trailer where there seems to be a giant Fangz? The Fangz is not bigger, the heroes are smaller - They passed through a teleporter which modified their molecules making them tiny.

- Furno feels that Rocka is replacing him, so Rocka and Furno are like rivals at first.

That's all the info I can remember from the show.
