john cleese Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 I actually counted 18: 4 wheel rims 3 <insert that tiresome argument> slopes that make up the top of the ambulance 2 of those castle wall peices found in almost every KK2/2.3 set 2 big gate peices 1 stand 4 roof peices 1 hp roof peice 1 <insert that tiresome argument> mega blocking motorcycle now still that isnt alot of <insert that tiresome argument> peices but that doesnt mean this isn't a <insert that tiresome argument> set. for instance There appears to be a lack of plates and the thing looks like its mainly built from arches and bricks. There are many different modules in this set ie: the bike, the glider, the gaurd tower, the ambulance and the three buildings. Now if such things were elliminated and instead they elaborated on the main structure, then they would have enough peices to make a fold out set with poison ivy's cell actually in the building. And the edifice itself would bear ressemblance to an asylum. In my opinion the batman line could have been alot better. So thankyou lego for making another set that i wont buy, your saving me alot of money Quote
gylman Posted May 25, 2006 Posted May 25, 2006 Gyl overreacted. This set actually isn't very <insert that tiresome argument>. I count only 6 true <insert that tiresome argument> pieces in the three main buildings. 6 j-ized pieces out of 860? Yeah, that's REALLY <insert that tiresome argument>. Well, let's look at this tower. I cut and pasted the tower and put some lines pointing to the elements I don't like. Fat brick as base one piece wall and window of doom next then a one piece turret top (then some actual lego pieces) then another one piece turret top then a one piece roof Not <insert that tiresome argument>? In this tower alone 5 huge pieces make up up most of the structure. There's no building here at all. It's not really all that different from this http://guide.lugnet.com/set/4779 Quote
oo7 Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 For me most of the time I could care less about big pieces, as long as it looks cool, has good playability, and you can use the peices for some other creation once your bored of the boxed one. Although I must say the bat glider thing looks really chunky and retarded. :-X I hope one of the cells is a solitary confinement with padded walls to lock up the joker in.....heh heh. Quote
Jacob C. Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 Is lego trying to falsely advertise this set? If you look at the set on the box and then compare it to the other pics, it looks different. The Poison Ivy section of the set is no where to be seen in the other pics. See here: Arkham Asylum I'm hoping that maybe this set has two building options for the two parts of the set that look different on the box pic. But something tells me that Lego probably changed the set and made it more boring by adding those ugly pre-fab wall pieces. Quote
sam89 Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 All they've done is turned the lower sections of the buildings around. On the box art the black pre-fab pieces are on the back of the towers, on these new pics they're on the front. Quote
Jacob C. Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 All they've done is turned the lower sections of the buildings around. Are you sure? Because the roof tops are pointed in two different directions in the pics. In the box art, the roof tops are sloping down toward the Poison Ivy part but in the other pics, they are sloping down toward the pre-fab part. There's only one large roof top piece, so it can't be pointing two ways unless they switched the roof tops around on the different pics. Quote
Jacob C. Posted May 28, 2006 Posted May 28, 2006 I guess they just switched the pre-fab parts, so they are pointing toward the outside and so the cell parts are on the inside. That makes sense. Quote
Vader Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Wow what in the hell are those guards about to do to the riddler??? 8- Quote
Zane Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 Y'think Lego will do a magnet set with the Riddler and Scarecrow? If they do, this set really won't sell, lol. But yeah, would be good. Quote
sam89 Posted May 29, 2006 Posted May 29, 2006 No, I don't reckon that LEGO will do that, for the reason you mentioned ;-) There will probably be many people who would only buy this set for the figs, so releasing the figs seperately would be a terrible move by LEGO. Quote
oo7 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Sorry for being so random, but what do you guys think of scarecrow's sythe? Should lego have made a custom piece? Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 sorry for being so random, but what do you guys thin of scarecrow's sythe? should lego have made a custom peice? When you talk of a custom piece, you mean a one piece sythe ? Thats a fun question actually ;-) Nowadays, AFOLs do complain a lot about Junior Parts (yada yada yada, we know the classic rant :-P ), and for once TLC produces brick build "details" (such as pinguins, Gary, or sythe) you ask whether TLC did the right thing :-P !! I think the sythe is simple yet effective, and that it looksdway better than one single part ;-) *yoda* Quote
oo7 Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 and that it looksdway better than one single part ;-) I was actually thinking of 2 peices like the Viking axe (which I adore) when I was typing. I'm sorry I didn't put that in there initially. :-| Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 ah okie ;-) That would have been great with that metal coloured long sythe blade *y* (better than the version we have ;-) ) *yoda* Quote
john cleese Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 i think the scythe should have used a cutlass instead of a ninja sword, maybe lego decided to discontinue cutlasses for some reason, maybe to make the afols angry? Quote
xwingyoda Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 Well the cutlass is nice but IMO not long enough. I think that the katana is the perfect lenght ;-) (I will try both verions to make sure hehe !!) *yoda* Quote
Steff Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 i send an email to toysrus and i ask for this set. A worker send me an email back, and it seems that this set would't be avaible for toysrus in europe. .do you know anything about that??? maybe its only for shop@home? sorry for my english ;) Quote
xwingyoda Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Steff, I seriously doubt that but we never know with TLC :-| I wouldn't trust TRU employees though !! Bear in mind that they don't "choose" the sets they received !! Two recent exemples: * When they received the ISD, they weren't even aware of that set !! It was not showing on their computers !! * I called to inquire about the Batman sets, and they told me that they will NOT carry the UCE Batmobile BUT received it a couple of weeks after :-| So keep the faith and don't worry about your English !! its fine ;-) *yoda* Quote
