takuto20 Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 What is new to me is the whole education line?! http://www.legoeducation.com/store/ Sorry if this is very old news (?) Quote
Jipay Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 It has always existed, and was called "dacta" if I remember correctly. This line is aimed at school who can buy kits specialy deisgned for experiments in class Quote
Kahgarak Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Indeed,we have DACTA at school. My friends and i made a KK2-style catapult with the gear set. It's really fun! Quote
natelite Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 class experiments? somehow the picture of someone dropping a lego minifig into a bottle of thinner is visually linked to the words "class experiments"... Quote
3D LEGO Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Dacta, as it used to be known, has been around for quite some time(IE all the way back to the old flat top and bottom round 4.5v motors). Me and my siblings have gotten a few sets over the years starting with one(actually this may be it) like this: http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/1032-1 We also got a set that had the Technic Control center(#2 I think, it has yellow and red buttons and is 9v), that came with the old 4x5 9v motor. So not quite what you would expect for education. Quote
gylman Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Dacta has often provided very special sets that were not available from regular Lego retailers, and which have become very valuable. Like the big hospital set http://guide.lugnet.com/set/9364 This amazing control set (8 motors, 8 sensors) http://guide.lugnet.com/set/9751 Excellent pneumatic parts packs http://guide.lugnet.com/set/9604 http://guide.lugnet.com/set/9633 Great teaching cards and teachers guides, amazing parts packs you couldn't get anywhere else, etc. etc. It was always wildly overpriced, but if you could afford it, or get it at a bargain price on eBay, it was very good. The pneumatic stuff was amazing for me. The biggest problem was to get it from a dealer, because Lego never sold Dacta direct through S@H and retailers did not stock it. You could only get from educational supply dealers, and they were a pain to "deal" with. As far as I can tell, I can order stuff from legoeducation.com directly now, like S@H. If this is really true, it will be a great help for many people. Quote
