Huh. Hasn't happened to me, but I'm not one to constantly play with and rotate my B1s joints.

Has that happened to anyone else?

To me it has, the B1 arms seem to spin easier and seem much more loose on my older ones than the newer ones.

Huh. I've seriously never encountered this before. Is it because the old ones have had their arms taken off and put back more?

I think it's a common issue with almost all LEGO clips - if, for example, a minifig holds it's weapon for too long, the clip (hand) gets weaker.

I managed to pick this set up today at a real steal of a price, so picked up 4 (I'm unlikely to see this set any cheaper than I did today)

It's truely an incredible set. Lot's of room for easy Modifications to make it bigger/better too

Best set in quite a while, I must say. The new gungans are  too.

I think that is the reason why every set that contains a 'droid arm' allways has a spare. A wise move by TLG but not a permenant fix.

Great review! Can't wait to get this myself. I'll probably MOD it to include more droids, though probably not as extensive as Legoman's.

Same here, except I'm going to try for a movie-accurate deployment mechanism.

What exactly is 'movie accurate'? I don't recall seeing these actully deploy droids... Is it the same as the MTT? If so, I may give that a go on mine too

Similar to the deployment racks used in MTTs, the troop carrier's single rack could hold 112 battle droids, folded into their space saving configurations.

So I assume it's the same. I gave up trying to put one into an MTT a long time ago; not enough space in the official one(s) and not enough brown to build my own. The PAC's open configuration gives me much more freedom.

You tried to fit a Droid carrier Inside an MTT *huh* Wow, that would have been.. Intresting

I'll see what I can come up with as far as deployment goes :classic:

I tried to fit the rack inside. Got as far as 32 B1s, but in the original deployment rack.

Ah, don't know how I missed this review - good job General Magma!

I never did pick up the original version of the Platoon Attack Craft and though I wish I had, this version is much better than the original as one would expect. I don't mind more B1's (no idea how many I have now though) but Jar Jar and the Gungan Warrior steal the show, brought right up to date (Gungan Warrior's shield looks great too).

I'd love to see a battlepack with some of these new Gungan Warriors as this set is an expensive army builder... a Kaadu wouldn't go amiss either.

The only B2 I've had break one of my metallic blue ones from the original RGS... gutted! It was the clip on the legs that broke, but the minifig had never been played with, only assembled and displayed... really frustrating... but I got over it. not been an issue since.

Cheers for the review again GM.

Oh right, I get you now  Good stuff!

I've just finished a new MOD on my carrier for the Droid release and making the Droid Rack a bit more accurate :classic:

Two more gungan warriors would be nice.

Really? That's everything you can say about this fantastic review? Come on, the only thing that you don't like about this set is that it only contains 12 figs instead of 14? :sceptic:

The set is awesome, finally a cheap way to both get some droids and build a gungan army (even though I hate them they are somehow necessary for a episode I MOC...). You can't expect to get more than 12 figs, new prints and even a new part for 25 $.

Great review.

I have just noticed that on your picture, your gungans have a round shaped torsos, while mine has got square shaped torsos.

If you don't know what I am talking about, I will explain.

You mean your torso edges are rounded off? It probably means the parts in your set are from a different factory with a newer mold.

The new Jar-Jar look really fantastic as do most recent Lego Star Wars minifigures. Also as an army builder that may be a nice set even though the transport itself isn't very special. The price is indeed very high!

No, my torso edges are NOT rounded off, but his are. I like the rounded ones better.

Okay, well then reverse my sentence. You have the parts from the factory with the newer mold.

A good review and excellent photos.

I personally got the set for 25 EUR and wanted it because of the many minifigs. The PAC (platoon attack craft) is well captured from the film but not the most interesting vehicle at all. The battle droids did disappoint me a bit. Although being able to hold a gun properly they do not stand well and are difficult to stick into tight areas (they bend over when being pressed). At least they are numerous in this set. The pilot B-1s are a nice addition to anyone's droid army. The Gungans are nice depictions and Jar-Jar is a wonderful piece for collectors.

At the price mentioned, i rate the set 4/5.
