XimenaPaulina Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Hi MorgenoSkirata! Welcome to the world of minifig customization! I would like to help the best way I can, but you have to be more specific with your questions. - What specific troopers do you plan to do? - Do you need custom decals, helmets, accessories, weapons? These are just a couple of things you should take into consideration before making your custom minifigs. Also, there are a lot of notable SW customizers here which may be able to help you with their insights/techniques (brickplace custom, darth yogi, The_Customizer) Here are some of my works if you want to see some custom clone stuff --> KielDaMan's Custom Star Wars Figures Hope that helps! Hi Morgeno Skirata, I'm sure our customisers will help you with this project. My tip is a bit different: please check your spelling and capitalisation when posting. Things like "im" instead of "I'm" really make you look under-age. Thank you. Quote

Also, how do decals work? do you Spray Paint a body then put the decal on? Edited December 14, 2010 by MorgenoSkirata Quote

I guess I was thinking of creating a *custom* legion, possibly modeled after a Sarlacc battalion or something with a couple (if i get Arealight helmets) that look like commander colt but with less of an ARC trooper-esque to them (does that work? ARC trooper esque? Whatever). Of course I'm going to make regular troops, a heavy trooper or 2, snipers, etc. Also with the bomb squad battle packs coming out in January, I might have them backed up with some Airborne's of another *custom* legion, the 79th or something. Also if I do go with creating some ARCs and RC's then I would make the Null ARC Squad and Delta + Omega Republic Commando squads. Thanks, Morgeno Skirata PS: I also am trying to use the least amount of painting/sharpie my Legos, Where did you get the stickers or tape or something that you have on your airborne trooper in the other topic? Thanks again. PPS: These are the guys I might turn into some airbornes, be they 212th or different... (using Area Light helmets ) Edited December 14, 2010 by MorgenoSkirata Quote
MorgenoSkirata Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) I just decided I am going to create the 11th Sarlacc Battalion, part of the 315th Legion, under the command of Clone Commander Ragnarok, this battalion is nicknamed "Ragnarok's Raiders" its gonna have lightning signs... Darth Yogi Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Hi, glad to see your interested in customizing. To make custom printing I don't use decals, although I would like to start. Instead I use a paint called perm-enamel. It's a paint used for plastic models that I bought at a local craft shop. It stays on really well, and has a clear coat giving it the Lego shine I put it on using thin paint brushes and tooth picks for very small details. Heres something I made with the paint . Lately I have been experimenting making pauldrons, but they are still a WIP. I use an old bed sheet and cut it into the shape I want. then put a layer of glue/water on it to harden it. Still working on how to give it color. As for custom stores, I can tell you that Arealight has great products for clones. Also I use the Brickarms sniper and bazooka for star wars. These are the only custom products I can personally recommend, although I have heard great things about Little Arms and MMCB. Also please do not double post, instead edit your previous post. Thanks. Hope this helps and good luck with these customs Quote

The_Customizer Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 Well, since I was mentioned, let me add this. I am able to make clothe Pauldrons with print, and I make lots of decals/designs, and I would be able to print them on stickers, or waterslide. Just PM me! Quote

Hope this helps and good luck with these customs Yeah, I tried using perm enamel to customize a jet trooper but I'm incompetent at those tiny details, spawning the interest in small decals for things such as legion marks on clones. Nice creations, they were all quite good. No offense but I can find better ways to make pauldrons using paper printouts I've heard of most of these stores except for MMCB, thanks. As you can see I am no longer double posting Thanks! Thank you You can find info on how to apply decals in this Tutorial. Refer to the Index for more useful Tutorials and Tools. Thank you, I was wondering if there was a tutorial somewhere... Well, since I was mentioned, let me add this. What do you mean by "I am able to make clothe Pauldrons with print..." and I might just have to ask you for some decals later, Thanks. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU ALL!!!! Mine are still in the experimental stage, and are definitely under par. It was just a suggestion to possibly expand on. Hope yours turn out well. Quote
