shadowreaperx Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 It's a nice looking ship though I have never seen it in the clone wars (maybe a teaser for a later episode?) Though, in the catalog and online, it says there's a holocron. If it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you show us what the holocron is? Quote

This bounty hunter gunship Halo already appeared in the CW series in the creatively-titled Bounty Hunters episode in Season 2. Here's a screenshot. And a quick wookieepedia search will give you this entry for the Holocron. Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Nice review, 501st. This set is still on my not to buy list. The minifigs are nice, but the ship itself is just "meh". I like how the engines rotate, but the cockpit is boxy, and has a <insert that tiresome argument> feel with those large, curved pieces, though they do capture the shape well. I just can't get excited over this set. Quote
Solscud007 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 wow nice. thanks for the review. Im gonna take one of the long rifles from my Pharoh's quest sets http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=30141 and give it to Aura Sing. She needs a long sniper rifle. Quote

I guess I didn't see the episode or I just wasn't paying attention As for the holocron-and I don't mean to be rude-but I meant the holocron in the set, I know what a holocron is, but thanks for the gesture of kindness! moc2 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Great review. I agree, the minifigs are great! Somehow, that color green really doesn't do it for me, even if it is accurate... Quote

I've seen it, its not a new piece, its a trans-clear 1x1 plate sandwiched between two trans-blue 1x1 plates. Nothing really great and I bet I could make one out of the spare pieces i have on my desk right now , the printed tile in this set is however, really cool Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 I picked this set up the other day and built it; I actually enjoyed it. The mini-figs are great. DARK GREEN! The design with respect to the original from the show is close to spot on, for LEGO. I like how the engines rotate to really give it that VTOL feel. This thing is a pain to display though in flight. The weight balance really requires the engines to be in a vertical position for this bad boy to stand up. But I like this set. Even with all the cons people have typed, this thing is SUPER-swooshable, and that has to add a few extra points! Quote

Ah no worries, I didn't even know there is supposed to be a holocron in this set, until you pointed that out in the set description. But I believe sok117 already answered the question, I just don't have any photos of it. Quote
Future74 Posted January 1, 2011 Posted January 1, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the review 501st commando This ship is the "Halo", a SS-54 light freighter. I think the ship looks very accurate, just look at the picture below: It hasnt gotten a lot of screen time but a lot of ships/fighters/etc. havent so that's really no reference. The minifigures are a nice addition to the collection, they look nice and I'll never get tired of new minifigures. Aurra Sing is a beautiful badass. edit: just saw the reference by KielDaMan, so this is just another one Edited January 1, 2011 by Future74 Quote
Prime Brick Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 The ship is very sleek I like the 'figs too. Quote
Bellicose Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 This was my most-anticipated kit from this wave, I'm guessing because I found the overall shape and colors to be pretty intriguing and much different from the usual Star Wars bley. After having assembled mine, it's alright, but there's a few choices made in design that leave me scratching my head... One is the cockpit area - specifically the canopy/overhead hatch. It uses the same hatch cover plate as the AAT and Separatist Shuttle, but unlike those two the opening hinge doesn't use any detents, and is a straight pivot with no resistance - so the door just flops around. Also there's two decks built into the cockpit area, but the lower deck doesn't seem to be tall enough to do anything with figures down there - unless you jam them in on their back/belly. Second are the engine assemblies - the engines pivot for landing, but the pivot point is well forward of the balance point so even with the engines pivoted forward (and the sliding block jammed and locked forward) they still sag down, exhaust-heavy. Also the pivot point has a small 1x3 technic piece, that I don't understand why was used - only one slot was used. Further forward there's two slots for technic pins, and there's a socket hole on the engine cowls that could have been used to connect to those technic plates - and having a second connection might have helped with the engine pivot sag. Too tired to do pictures to illustrate what I'm saying, I'll do it tmrw. Overall I'm happy, but there were some missed opportunities here. Quote
