CptMugwash Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Thanks for the clear pics I don't think I have a favourite in this series but I do like most of them if not all If I had to choose one I'd have to say the gladiator looks pretty damn awesome, the new gladius piece looks wicked I can't really put a finger on which figure will be the rarest, but if any it would probably be the gladiator because it's similar to the spartan and has good potential for army building with that new sword. Wolfy 8880 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I have to assume it does - I mean, they could mold it as a solid lump, which would use a lot more plastic, or save on materials costs by making it hollow, and if it's hollow they might as well do it as two halves on a hinge, like the regular minifigure suitcases. But we'll see... The violin case appears to have a stud on top, just forward of the handle, which would imply it is a solid piece. Quote
SilentMode Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 A little more interested in the cave girl and the zookeeper, but otherwise my opinions haven't changed. Quote
Mr. Gray Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Ooh, I really like that Inuit native, as well as the dwarf just for it's shield. I'm actually really looking forward to this set, and I'm hoping I'll be able to catch it in my area! Quote
Holodoc Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sorry, but I have got mixed feelings about thie upcoming round 5. For me the pure minifigs are getting more and more boring. Another dwarf? Boring. Another snowboarder? Booooring! Sherlock? Could have used a pipe instead of a magnifying glass. Cleopatra? Come on - she comes with a green snake! Booooring! and so on... For me, I'm not planing to get many of the figs. There are some really nice accessories, but 2€ for a lumberjack axe or 2€ for a small monkey? I have seen better deals. There are some nice minifigs I have to admit, but I will definitely getting less than in the recent series. Quote
Aanchir Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I observe that the royal guard has the Wild West rifle in reddish brown. I wonder what uses that might have, or how much demand there might be for it. Also, is the sleuth's magnifying glass just regular black, or titanium metallic (current pearl dark grey)? It's hard to tell, but in the picture with them on the stands it looks a bit lighter than the stand. Probably too early to judge, of course-- I was convinced that the Series 2 Explorer's magnifying glass was silver up until reviews of Series 2 revealed otherwise (and even then, official images didn't seem to resemble the color it really was). The graduate's definitely one of my "must-get" figures, considering that he's coming out the same semester I'm due to graduate. I also plan to get the lumberjack, just because his axe would be absolutely perfect for an Axe Cop minifigure. If only there were a face that had both sunglasses and a mustache... Other figs are also very well-designed, such as the gladiator, the kaiju, and the boxer. Overall, I think I'll really enjoy this series-- but no need to hurry when I still haven't seen Series 4 in stores! Quote
Santhor Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Collectible minifigures: Gotta catch 'em all! This series looks just as good, if not, (dare I say it?) better than Series 4! Keep up the good work TLG! -Santhor Quote
Ro87n Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I would love to see a Mini Grim Reaper. I may make a custom if I get around to it, all the parts exist currently. Cowll : Star Wars - Palpatine hood Head : Skeleton face Body : Simple black, maybe some tatters Legs : Once again, black Accessory : Ninjago Bone scythe I would take that for 2.99 :D It should have a 2x2x2 slope instead of legs (I know very offtopic) and I did made a space version of a Grimm Reaper aka Space Death (way before Death Space!!) @ Holodoc: You don't have to buy them or even look at them if you label them as boring. First I was also like whaaaat?!? another snowboarder? But since it's a male and different prints it a good add to my collection IMO. Also to mix and match with other figures of any kind. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Thank you as always, Prateek, for the glorious pics. Am I the only one who's excited about the Eskimo Fisherman?? Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Sorry, but I have got mixed feelings about thie upcoming round 5. For me the pure minifigs are getting more and more boring. Another dwarf? Boring. Another snowboarder? Booooring! Not boring to everyone, of course. For those people specifically interested in making things that use dwarves or snowboarders, the additional variety these figures provide is invaluable. Sherlock? Could have used a pipe instead of a magnifying glass.Cleopatra? Come on - she comes with a green snake! Booooring! and so on... Sherlock could've used a pipe, sure, but a magnifying glass is still nice, and as already noted they're just not going to do a pipe. If he hadn't come with a magnifying glass, it wouldn't mean he would come with a pipe; it would just mean he wouldn't come with anything (or they'd have to come up with something else entirely). For me, I'm not planing to get many of the figs. There are some really nice accessories, but 2€ for a lumberjack axe or 2€ for a small monkey? I have seen better deals. Monkey? That's a chimpanzee, which they've never done before, and it's printed to boot. If you don't like chimps, fine, but I'm thinking of getting a slew of the zookeeper / animal trainer just to get a bunch of those chimps. There are some nice minifigs I have to admit, but I will definitely getting less than in the recent series. Sure, different strokes for different folks. We all have some series we'll get more or less of than others. That doesn't necessarily mean a given series is weak, it just means different series meet different needs and desires for different people. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 The violin case appears to have a stud on top, just forward of the handle, which would imply it is a solid piece. It does, now that you mention it. That's a really odd place for a stud, though, given how the rest of the top of the case is shaped. I think it might be not a stud but a small projection to represent a latch. It also appears to have a rectangular projection on the bottom, which I think might be the hinge (since the hinge would be a straight edge, but the main part of the case presumably has curved sides like a violin). With the oblong-shaped suitcases, the hinge can be incorporated directly into the suitcase walls, but for this it would probably need some "extra" plastic if they didn't give the case flat walls along the inner / bottom side(s). Quote
Dunjohn Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 More likely that the violin case is essentially the same as the radio, with a stud on either side of the handle and 1x4 slot on the bottom. It just has the neck of the case sticking out at the end, kept well above any studs on the ground. Quote
Aeturnus Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 definately want to get all of these.*sigh* so addictive these collectible figure series Quote
Canada_7 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I personally like Series 4 the best out of all the series but there are still some decent ones I like in this one. The Godzilla looking thing, the graduate, and the royal guard are the ones I like the most outta the ones in this series. I might actually get a few more graduate minifigs as gifts (normally I just get one of each minifigure to get one complete collection per series). Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 This may have been answered before, but is the mobster's fedora a smaller version of the Indy one or the same? It looks identical to the Indy hat both in shape and size, so i think it is indeed the same hat. Well no big surprises in this pic, seems to confirm what we saw at the toy shows. The 80's jogger/workout/dancer girl is a little disappointing as she looks almost identical to the pop signer from S2. The dwarf is excellent, and so is the gladiator, I really like the body printing on both of those figures. Quote
bpwilly3 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I is liking all of them! I am gonna buy all the individual packages until I get all the minifigures. Or maybe I will just buy all together on ebay. Ebay option is probably cheaper. Quote
Blacktron Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I've collected not the whole series, but only the Space and Horror figures like the Cyborg, Astronaut, Vampire, Zombie etc. So I'm a little disapointed right now, because there aren't any Space or Horror Characters in Series 5. :-( Quote
Wout Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first line with 4 of the 16 figs being female (= 25%), which I find very nice. The male snowboarder is a bit meh for me but the rest is very nice. Quote
Black Llama Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I think I may have to have direct deposit to TLG setup from my checking account at this point.... I really want the 'Godzilla Suit' guy and I need 2 Cleopatra's. One for my mini collection, and one to go with my Pharaoh's Quest display. Quote
Yooha Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this is the first line with 4 of the 16 figs being female (= 25%), which I find very nice. The male snowboarder is a bit meh for me but the rest is very nice. Yeah, the first series has 2 and there were 3 since then. Quote
Ro87n Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Indeed and I love the fact that TLG makes more female collectable minifigs for each series Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 The male snowboarder is a bit meh for me but the rest is very nice. I agree, the snowboarder is clearly the weakest link in this series. But, on the other hand, I guess it's a pretty nice new torso for the City collectors. Quote
Derfel Cadarn Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Im glad about the Gladiator as Im planning a moc based on the Spartacus tv series, that fig will go nicely with the spartan. Not as good as series 4, but I will get some of these anyway. The monkey is cool, and I expect that will be another animal to show up in the Pet Shop modular that is supposed to be on its way. Quote
Kliq Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Wow, series 5 already? I'm still questing after the wrestler from Series 1. :[ Quote
CLOWNs Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I wonder how many figures are going to have back printing,S3 had 2,S4 had quite a few. Quote
