UsernameMDM Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Has anyone got any top tips for making the Graduate's gown stay down as opposed to making him look like he's in some sort of hurricane? I'd fold the gown all the way back and form a good crease. Quote
blueandwhite Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I found series 5 at Walmart today. I picked up all 16 with 4 extra gladiators, 3 extra royal guards, 2 extra dwarfs, and an extra cave girl. I really like the pie that comes with the clown though, so I may need to grab a few more before all is said and done. I actually found this series to be better than I first expected. Quote
Cave Bear Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 I finally got the whole series, at my hometown I can only get them in smiths and toys r us if I can be bothered to drive there. Im currently on holiday in Dorset and the local toy shop near where Im staying has a great system they have a box of figures on display which I went immediately to search for more figures but the many behind the counter told me that you aren't allowed to search the packets as they rub of the faces but they had 2 full boxes in the back that they had opened and you just asked for what figure you wanted and you could buy them for the same price as a random packet, through this method I've got 3 snowboarders, 3 mafia bosses and a clown to complete my collection I will go in again in a few days to get the gladiators. I really hope other shops adopt this system as it is so much better than picking blind packs and trying to feel what they are or using the dot system. Quote
Ro87n Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 A HUGE woot moment when I came back from my job My wife bought 7 random series 5 bags and I ended up with no double. This is what I got: - Amazone (!) - Boxer (!) - Cleopatra (!) - Godzilla (!) - Inuit (Eskimo, for trade) - Snowboarder (trade anyone, I don't realy want/need this fig) - Zookeeper (!) Most of them I wanted, but the Inuit and snowboarder are a little disapointing. I almost want them all beside Inuit, Snowboarder and Lumberjack. Anyone want the boarder or eskimo to trade for another (collectible) Minifig? Just pm me if you want. Quote
Ogre Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Reading about all those gladiators being bought-up is just KILLING ME! I really hope these things hit Chapters soon (for a decent price) and that I have some cash available when they do! Quote
buddy Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Series 5 is turning out into a great (but rather expensive ) series for me. I currently have two complete sets with extras that so far include a total of 15 Gladiators and a total of 11 Evil Dwarfs. ~buddy~ Quote

Zeya Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I identified my 60-pack preordered lot from TRU. Last time around with s4, I got all 16. But this time I'm lacking the Gladiator and the Gangster. I'll be posting on the trade thread soon. I might have to do 65 or 70 next time to get my set of 16. What I don't want to do is keep visiting stores looking for one or two specific figs. Quote
Ro87n Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I noticed the prices per fig here in Belgium rised a bit too. From €1,95 to €2,15 that is 20ct per fig And that's why my wife could/want to buy only 7 she could almost have bought 8 or more when they are cheaper in price. Why did the prices rise? Is TLG needing money for this SuperHeroes project? And still it's Chinese LEGO so not even the true high quality. So why the rise in price... ??? Quote

I just got a few more yesterday from a Prisma in Finland. Price, 1,90 eur per fig. Have now 4 full sets + few extras \o/ I just love the Lizardguy #6 I hate to see opened bags in the retail box, in a supermarket (Citymarket).. There were parts of the eskimo and the cavewoman, and a bag that was sliced open on the back side, just behing the crease. I took it to the store info and the woman there suspected that the bag had just broken when people go thru them. NO WAY! Quote
Ogre Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I got mine from my local Chapters, C$3.50 though. Aw, maaaaaaaaaaan. *pout* Was hoping that Chapters would have them for cheaper than everybody else, again. Hmm...maybe later... *fingers crossed* Quote

Is TLG needing money for this SuperHeroes project? And still it's Chinese LEGO so not even the true high quality. So why the rise in price... ??? The prices have risen multiple times in multiple countries. I imagine part of the reason for this could be that prices for the first couple series were kept artificially low to test the actual demand for the figures. Once TLG recognized that there was a demand for these sets, they gradually increased prices until they reached the optimum profit-- high enough to make up the costs of production and distribution, but not too high to drive off the majority of consumers. I don't think it has anything to do with the Super Heroes project. I've absolutely never heard of prices being raised on one line to support another, completely unrelated line, and that sort of thing would be an extremely foolish business decision. If you're counting on a line being popular enough to be worth huge licensing costs, then you raise the prices on that line since you know it has the popularity to sustain it. And if it can't stay popular at the costs it takes to make a profit, then it's probably not worth the licensing costs to begin with. For reference, Series 1 and 2 minifigures were $1.99 in the US. Series 3 minifigures rose by a full dollar to $2.99 per minifigure. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Went back to TRU and got a clown, soldier, and Dwarf. Good day for me. Quote
MikeyB Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Found them in a Walmart here in Charleston, SC. They weren't on the Lego aisle but on an end cap one or two aisles over. Finish my collection today and got a couple extra gladiators and royal guards for good measure. Also in the Toy's R US as well but they only had one box and it was nearly empty Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) Must... resist... urge... to... BUY THEM ALL ONLINE AT ONCE!!!! Seriously, if I can't stand this until the prices drop, my minifigure budget will be depleted soon. Edited August 28, 2011 by johnnyvgoode Quote
thunderhippo Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I don't know if anybody has already thought of this, but the boxers gloves would make perfect hands for Mr.Krabs from the pictures I have seen. Quote
Lieutenant Guimond Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I agree that these figs are getting more and more expensive as the series go on, but for the average Joe, I think the series 5 is still affordable at 3.28$ Canadian (at WM). Actually, people are buying these figs on ebay for double the price! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I was in TRU earlier this week. They didn't have any Series 5 yet, but they still had some stock of Series 3 and 4. The price on those had been jacked up fifty cents as well. I haven't been to the nearby Lego Store yet to see what their price is. Does anyone know if TRU's new $3.50 price is just TRU's typical price gouging, or is that the new standard retail price? Is that $3.50 US? I bought a few in TRU two days ago, and they were $2.99. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Is that $3.50 US? I bought a few in TRU two days ago, and they were $2.99. Series 4 was $3.49, but series 5 was $2.99. Quote
K-Nut Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Series 4 was $3.49, but series 5 was $2.99. I've gotten both of those for $2.99. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I've gotten both of those for $2.99. Since series 2 my local TRU has done this. For the first couple of weeks the price for CMF was retail, $2.99. After awhile the price bumps up to $3.49. Quote
fred67 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 For the record, so far I've gotten 30 from my local TRU (Duluth GA, USA) and they were all $2.99. They did not have a limit, while the local LEGO Store had a limit of 5. Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Still none at Square One in Mississauga :( I only need a few more! Quote
---Vertea--- Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I got two lizardmen and two gladiators, the zookeeper and the dwarf. The Gladiators were IMPOSSIBLE to find. I had to go through three mostly full boxes before I found mine. My guess is someone went through the other boxes and grabbed the rest. The Lizardmen, on the other hand, were PLENTIFUL. I found, like four others in one box, then four more in the next, then three in the next, plus the two that I got. I'm very happy with them. Quote

Yeah, the lizard guys are the easiest to find by touch and feel, followed closely by the soldier. Quote
