jonwil Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 That boxer looks great, cant see enough of the others to know for sure if they are any good. Maybe I can add boxing gear to my yet-to-be-built sports store :) Although if I keep waiting until I have every piece of sports equipment that exists, I will be waiting for a long time (every set so far has had sportspeople of some kind) Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Gladiator - The same as with cleopatra. However is that another new spear we're getting from this "theme"? I can't tell whether that's a new sword or a new spear. It looks like it could be a pilum, which would be a promising sign for those of us hoping for a Roman legionary minifigure. I don't mind the dwarf repeat myself. The pearl dark grey update works well and the shield looks great. This guy looks like he could be an evil variant of the regular dwarf faction. The Coldstream Guard looks great too, I really like that bearskin cap. Nice to see a brown rifle in there too. Ooh, ooh, and I see a tiny pie! A tiny pie! Quote
Etzel Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 I can't tell whether that's a new sword or a new spear. It looks like it could be a pilum, which would be a promising sign for those of us hoping for a Roman legionary minifigure. I think it's a Roman short-sword, a gladius. That would make most sense since that was what the Murmillo galdiator usually fought with. Quote
MagPiesRUs Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Yes, you're probably right actually. Either way though, it's still a good sign for an upcoming legionary figure. Quote
Fives Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Gladiator VS. Spartan will be amazing! Also dwarf and elf combo will look great. Now we just need an updated Orc, and possibly a human knight (sounds like LOTR ) Quote
prateek Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Ooh, ooh, and I see a tiny pie! A tiny pie! Finally! Although that pie isn't that small. Quote
Fives Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I am seeing a lot of bakery MOCs in the future due to that pie. Quote
Sirens-of-Titan Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Yes, you're probably right actually. Either way though, it's still a good sign for an upcoming legionary figure. The day they release Legionary figures is the day the AFOL's kill each other bags in stores! Honestly it may be the most anticipated and wanted figure out there! (I have dim hopes that it will be in this series as one of the unannounced figures but it's not likely they'll exclude a cool figure like that from the cover art. Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hmm, interesting. I like that gladiator figure, and that lizard-suit minifig will be useful to me (in a strange way). I've always been fond of face-obscuring helmets. Dwarf is also nice, I missed all previous ones. As of now, I've almost given up hope of collecting minifigs as their prices are up to $5 here, but I just might start collecting them. Now that the prices are so high, there are boxes full of them that no-one's willing to buy. Quote
kevin1990 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 btw the rumour has it that in series 5 that there will be only 9 minifigures, and that the price of each minifigure will be 3 euro instead of 2. anybody heard something about this? will there be only 9 after serie 4 and will the price go up??? Ro87n Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Gladiator VS. Spartan will be amazing! Also dwarf and elf combo will look great. Now we just need an updated Orc, and possibly a human knight (sounds like LOTR ) To improve this (link is not MOC, but someone else!) Quote
Flare Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I really like the gladiator and that pie piece! Quote
Ro87n Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 There will be more minifigs. Why would they stop making 16 per series and make them more pricey? Let's do some math (taking the example of 2 euro now and 3 later). 2€ x 16 = 32€ / 3€ x 9 = 27€ per full set and no spare. Lego would make less money on this reason but also on the fact that if some sees the prices thats lower (e.g. 2euro) they will buy it sooner than when it's a somewhat higher (e.g. 3euro). I don't see why Lego would make less minifigs per serie AND make them more pricey. Quote
SilentMode Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 It's way too early for S5 speculating (and quite frankly, scaremongering). Let's just concern ourselves with the up and coming S4. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 No, the top of the thing can be seen above the lizard suit guy's head. And to me it looks like a black caveman club or something similar. I guess Sherlock's hand is in front of it. Hoping it's dark brown rather than black! Quote
AmperZand Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Boxer. Nice. Wonder how the gloves connect to the hands. I'm guessing in the same way as the claws on the Lobster Guardian from Atlantis (linkety link to BrickLink catalogue). Amps Quote
The Yellow Brick Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I'm guessing in the same way as the claws on the Lobster Guardian from Atlantis (linkety link to BrickLink catalogue). Amps And the same way as the the cheerleaders pom poms Quote
Ro87n Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 I guess Sherlock's hand is in front of it. Hoping it's dark brown rather than black! Is seems to me it doesn't have those spikes and it looks more like a stoneage rolling pin (or dohroller) but a dark(er) version. Quote
Archer Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (I have dim hopes that it will be in this series as one of the unannounced figures but it's not likely they'll exclude a cool figure like that from the cover art. I thought that as well but from what i remember, the elf wasn't posted on the bag for series 3 and he's certainly one of the top 3 figures of that group. Quote
Fugazi Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 I had a better look at the Series 5 minifigs... So far I could make out about 12 brand new moulds (for only 9 minifigs) so this is already more that in all of Series 1 altogether. From what I can tell, Series 4 are so far the most prolific with about 19 new moulds, but Series 5 could be close behind, considering that there are 7 minifigures yet unseen plus many accessories that can't be clearly seen either. Also, Series 1 had two female minifigs, while Series 2-4 have 3 each. I have good hopes that there will be a third in Series 5 as well, although ideally I would wish for at least 4 per series (25%). fred67 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 So, I was perusing FBTB.net and found this post. I won't directly link the picture, I don't know if they'd appreciate that. Some of the minifigures on that "invite" are definitely ones I don't recognize, and I'm wondering what the speculation is about them (there is some discussion there, but I thought I'd get your opinions on it). So, can anyone tell me about (if we go by row x column): 1x6 (alien looking guy) 3x1 (blue hat, binoculars?) The whole fourth row (except the baseball player) The whole fifth row (except the Ninjago who isn't really part of that section). I'm particularly interested in 5x5, the astronaut with the gold dome. Nobody seems excited about it, so I guess it's an old one, but I don't know where it comes from.... except it's got nice new print. This is from the latest LEGO Education catalog, page 56: Ok, I know some may not think this is a series 5 post, but I was wondering if any of those figures will be series 5. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Isn't that astronaut for the new Space line? Quote
Oky Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) What rock have you been living under? Check out this and this thread. The rest are just City figs, except for the last two in the fourth row who are Jake Raines from Pharaoh's Quest and the Kingdoms princess. Edited January 27, 2011 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
fred67 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 D'oh! I don't follow those themes (except city w.r.t. modular and trains). Seems odd that the FBTB folks didn't know who that alien was either. Thanks. Not interested in those themes, but I like that astronaut. Quote
