ETAV8R Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 There is only one Target around me I know that carries the minifigs. Stopped by today and finished my collection. Went through the whole display and only got one dwarf and one gladiator. I still want one extra of each. Not trying to build and army here. Both have nice printing and detail. The face on the gladiator is angry! Lots of lizard guys. Got a couple extra of him for some step-nephews. There was a family that walked by and started checking out the minifigs. I asked what they were looking for and helped them get the aerobics girl and clown. Quote

Mrlegoninja Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Wow. I'm jealous. Some of you have Series 5 done and I haven't even started Series 5 or completed Series 4. Oh well. My time will come. Hopefully I'll be able to collect them all before the end of the year. Quote

It's a really nice series. Quote

It's a really nice series. Exactly the same situation here. When series 4 came out, I just wanted it so badly that I didn't care to pay more for it since I already had been waiting a long time for it, and it's probably my favorite series. This time, I want to wait and save some money (since I'm forced to buy from resellers), so I'll just wait until the hype is gone and people stop paying $80 for a complete set. Quote
Dervish Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Hit a jackpot this week, mostly Series 4 but some Series 5: Series 4 Viking Werewolf Hazmat x2 Skater Musketeer Hockey Guy Frankenstein Okay, this oughta be in series 4 discussion, but man am I jealous for that find. I'd prolly buy every single pre series 5 figs what I could get my hands on in retail stores. Still missing the viking from 4 and a few from series 1. Almost all of the briclink etc items are minifig only, or son't ship. :I For series 5, just got 12 more character by feel. Only missing 8 more for yet another full set.. I'm not even gonna say how many I already have ..5 And I have NO intentions in selling these. Quote
TheDarkness Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I bought a box of Season 5 online, my first LCM purchase, other than a couple at the shop from a past season. My wife and I sat down, opened a couple of packs to begin with, then started feeling the packs for the minifigs we wanted. For the most part they were simple to find. We pulled out the whole collection with no doubles, and my son and daughter opened 5 packs each for themselves. They got to pick 4 packs randomly, and if they didn't get the fig they wanted, then we would search and find it for their fifth, which we had to do for both of them. I love the detail on them and now may just have to go back and get the previous ones. Of course, now I have 34 unopened packets, so will either try complete a second set, or use them towards Christmas stockings Quote
UsernameMDM Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Finally found them at Target. Seemed to be a fresh assortment as I got 6 gladiators and 6 dwarfs. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Okay, I hate to nit-pick folks but...he ain't a "Beefeater"! That is all. I understand how you feel. I've been struggling to resist the temptation to go all throughout this thread and the others about this series responding to everyone who refers to the zookeeper's "monkey" telling them that it's an ape (specifically a chimpanzee, or perhaps a bonobo), not a monkey. It's not easy! Pet peeves are a terrible burden... Since series 2 my local TRU has done this. For the first couple of weeks the price for CMF was retail, $2.99. After awhile the price bumps up to $3.49. This is a pretty regular occurrence at TRU. Frequently when they first get brand-new sets in, they're priced at TLG's MSRP for a few days or a week or so, before going up to TRU's usual marked-up price. Quote
ACPin Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 -snip- This is a pretty regular occurrence at TRU. Frequently when they first get brand-new sets in, they're priced at TLG's MSRP for a few days or a week or so, before going up to TRU's usual marked-up price. But sometimes you get lucky like when I got the seriesIV a week earlier for $2.99 and then the next week there was a BOGO half-off. So I got the price assurance guarrantee and even used a $5 coupon off the $30 purchase. AC Quote
stayunspoiled Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Especially with the dollar the way it is (AUD>USD), us Austrlians get ripped the most... Each minifig is $4.99 AUD usually, sometimes there is a 20% sale and thats the best you get... I'm in freight forwarding, I know that I could fill a 40' container of Lego and get it here for under $5000 AUD They are making a killing... Quote

Excuse the ignorance as I'm a bloke from across the pond. Grenadier, Coldstream, Scots, Irish, Welsh, and of course the Queens Guards Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Okay, so here's a question I already have answered for myself, but I'm curious to hear other responses: "How many dwarves are enough?" Quote

I've got 6 open and 10 sealed so far. I wouldn't mind more shields and axes, but I have enough to satisfy my dwarf needs. Now only if they would make one of the dwarf beards in tan or dark tan... Etzel Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I got a S5 box today that I'm sharing with a friend and had a good time feeling through all of them. My favourite is absolutely the Gladiator, fantastic helmet and the prints on his torso, arm and legs are great too. I'm also really happy about the Cavewoman, finally this guy can get some company Concerning dwarves, I can't really understand the big hype. He is too similar to the Fantasy Era dwarves for me to want more then one. The Royal Guard on the other hand I want several of, thank you TLG for putting 5 of them in the box. Quote
SilentMode Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 "How many dwarves are enough?" One, damnit. Quote

1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 (edited) Yahoo! Finally closed a deal for these guys. Series 1: Complete. Series 2: Complete. Series 3: Complete. Series 4: Complete. Series 5: Awaiting Arrival 80 minifigures in all! Fantastic! And with series 6, we already have 96 amazing figs. If this really goes until 8, we'll have 128! I hope they keep up with the quality of the designs we already have seen, but if anyone can do that, it's Lego. On the other hand, I think that I'll have to purchase yet another case for minifigures ($15 for a 130 minifigure capacity box, not that bad), which means yet more crazy taxes and shipping costs for a plastic case. My room has a serious case of minifigure overpopulation. I still can't imagine how some people find ways to store literally thousands of minifigs. Edited September 15, 2011 by johnnyvgoode Quote

1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I'm curious what case you use to store 130 figs? I'm assuming they are displayed? Oh no, unfortunately no. I don't have the space or the money to keep my figures on display cases. I place my figures in small plastic baggies and then place them in a line in these cases. Not a perfect solution, or a very aesthetic one, but it is very space efficient and helps me find any figure fairly easily. If I ever have the economical and the physical conditions, I will buy cases that allow for display. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I wanted a handful of dwarves and got them with the feel method. I don't plan on getting any more, but I do agree that having more shields/axes would be good. I also wanted more torsos to build up an army, but not of necessarily only dwarves. And like a lot of people, missed out on the fantasy era, so they may want to build up dwarves much cheaper with these minifigs compared to the aftermarket price of the fantasy era dwarves. Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 My luck finally struck! Saw Series 5 at TRU yesterday. Picked up five, since the price was marked up 50 cents. However, as a rewards member, when I checked out the rewards points evened it out to 15 dollarss. I'm happy. I got: Cleopatra, Gladiator, Sherlock, Snowboarder, and the Royal Guard. All really great figs, all worth it. Quote
