The Yellow Brick Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 (edited) I'm surprised that Lego Shop@Home doesn't have it already, with a "Coming soon, on (March 1st?)". It must be good, seeing as it's such a secret. Maybe it's double-sized? THAT would be grandiose. -Santhor Double Sized + High price = No sales = no more modular buildings OR Normal Sized + Normal price = Good sales = LOADS more modular buildings Now which one sounds more realistic. Vindicare Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 The wait is killing me aswell.. Luckily i had broken down all other modular buildings and put them all together in a box including the grand carroussel. So thats about 12000-13000 pieces in one box.. I hope i am finished rebuilding before the Pet shop or whatever it is gonna be. I just want to have it :) Whoa..you put all the modulars(assuming you have all 4) and the carousel in one box together? That's gonna take you forever to dig through and find the pieces to rebuild them. Have fun! I don't think a pet shop would translate well in LEGO form either. Unless they're springing new animal molds on us, which is unlikely because I thought I read here that they use on current pieces for the modular series. Plus, they'd only have room for maybe 3 animals on one floor. That would make for a pretty lame interior to the pet shop. I hope we some official news soon though, the wait is killing me!
georgivar Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 (edited) I don't think they need new molds for animals. My suggestions is that the animals will be brick build - something like the toys in the Grand Emporium and Winter Toy Store. Or the seaguls in the recent Lighthouse sets that we've seen. If it is going to be a Pet Shop. And I'm realy hoping for a Post Station. Edited February 28, 2011 by georgivar

And I'm realy hoping for a Post Station. as much as i like the creativity of some of the "MOC-ers" here with their brick-built animals, i just do not like brick-built animals. i would prefer 1 single-mold animal. sorry if i caused any offence with my dislike. Cheers! PS: I do hope it is not a pet shop.
David Thomsen Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I don't mind brick-built animals, but I like them to be consistent. The pet shop should have all brick-built animals, or none at all. And since the other modular buildings already have one-piece animals, I think the pet shop should as well.

travisco_nabisco Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Yup I have all 4 of them... And market street is also in that same box :) I am wishing I had picked up Cafe Corner, but it came out just as I was coming out of the dark ages and wasn't quite up for committing to that large of a set. And now I doubt I'll ever get it as the BrickLink prices are quite high. However I, like you, combine all my pieces for sets I disassemble, so rebuilding Green Grocer and the like will take a huge time commitment in just locating the pieces.
adello25 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 travisco nabisco, I don't know how committed you are to I am but I too missed out on Cafe Corner. However, I bought all the pieces individually off BrickLink and it really only cost me between $150-200 which is not that bad. I am just about finished, just waiting on pieces for the 3rd floor. Those pieces were the only real issue with the set. You need a bunch, i think almost 40, of the dark red slopes. However, they are discontinuted so Pick a Brick on Lego.com doesn't have them and the only place that I found enough on BrickLink was an international seller and I am still waiting on them. Other than that, it was well worth it. I also did the same thing for Market Street and now have all 5 modular houses together!
TypoCorrecto Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 I am wishing I had picked up Cafe Corner, but it came out just as I was coming out of the dark ages and wasn't quite up for committing to that large of a set. And now I doubt I'll ever get it as the BrickLink prices are quite high. My Dark Ages ended shortly after the price of Market Street and Cafe Corner prices went through the roof. Luckily I picked up Green Grocer before it was discontinued. Anxiously waiting for this year's set...
Mrcool1804 Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Im in the "It isnt a pet shop" camp...it just doesnt seem logical in the scheme of a typical "downtown" scenario...I live in a 500,000+ population city and we don't have a downtown pet shop, but we do have multiple banks....
Vindicare Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I was really hoping for a bank...the detail on it would've been awesome. But, since they have the Money Transfer set, albeit a small bank...we now have a bank. Not any disrespect to the person who said were getting a pet shop, I'm hoping it's actually a post office. I mean, we have the mail van and plane, numerous mailboxes, but nowhere for them to go.
Muddy Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Realistically one a year is a perfect pace for these sets Well as much as I want a pet store I to doubt it going that route Downtown American big cities - have banks, drug stores, odd to see cvs as part of a bank bldg Looking at legos previous buildings Here are some possibilities Parking garage - remember the old one? - Bank Movie Theater (doubtful considering main street - which I consider part of this theme as well as winter village series) Office - cubicles and such Dr Office Vet City Garage Car Dealership Post Office TV Station Apartment Complex Hotel/Motel That is all I can think of right now I am hoping for petshop - return of the caged bird... - I want parrot mold as eagle dang it... I guess dream Lego theme would be zoo with each section being a different set Not quite enough animals yet But getting close - need giraffes or something...

thewatchman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 yeah i doubt a march 1st release, im leaning towards bank, few atms, a foyer etc and a vault, just too appealing... and i love all the mod sets but... i really dont like the grand emporium, infact it will never feature in my city... and yeah i just bought all the parts for cafe corner and market street from p.a.b and b.l but i still need green grocer, its my fav mod and i dont own it. im also adding interiors to my cafe and market street :) actually that reminds me, my p.a.b order is taking forever...
Rapseflaps Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Since today is March 1st, I too don't think it's going to be a March 1st release...
Santhor Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 (edited) I think grogall already said this modular building isn't gonna be released March 1. Oops, must've missed that. And to The Red Brick, I agree, it just seems that there's something special going on this year. Maybe it's because this is the first time I've waited for the release. -Santhor Edited March 1, 2011 by Santhor
thewatchman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 haha yeah total blonde moment... cant beleive i didnt notice that. spent a whole day at work writing it down too... gosh, my anticipation of this kit is killing me. i need some info, or picture!!
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Maybe a stupid thing to say, but... Why don't you give it a try yourself? What would a pet shop be like according to you? It sure helps while waiting!
thewatchman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Maybe a stupid thing to say, but... Why don't you give it a try yourself? What would a pet shop be like according to you? It sure helps while waiting! 32x32 or 32x16? ill smash my LDD if anyone else wants to make one too :)

I disagree. I live in Seattle, WA that have more than 600,000 people... Downtown Seattle has a several pet shops. I have seen some downtown areas across the county have pet shops as well. Any businesses fit in downtown area. :) Edited March 1, 2011 by LegoFan03
CptMugwash Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Hi guys, quick question, the Grand Emporium set, when will it be discontinued? I don't want to leave it too late like CC and GG. I already have the FB and I'm not wanting to miss out anymore with these awesome sets. If GE is still going until next year then it's on my bday/xmas list with the new mod I'd love to get the old sets but my wallet is going dry, curse those bricklink orders
adello25 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 They really need to let us know what this is going to be. If it is indeed a pet shop, then I plan on making my own bank. But I don't want to get started and then have Lego announce this is a bank

I dont want to sound abrasive, I am just ignorant to pet shops in 3 story buildings..I can show you a few multi-story banks...the last one is in Seattle.

Green grocer doesn't have a grocery on each level, just the first, and Fire Brigade is only two stories even though its as tall as the three story buildings. Edited March 1, 2011 by gotoAndLego
escortmad79 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Can you please show me a photo of a pet shop in a 3 story building? Ground floor is pet supplies, foods, fish & reptiles, 1st floor is rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, birds etc & the top floor is a small staff flat with kitchen & sitting room.
